To say that she was excited was a crime of an understatement. She'd gone to the Inn last night to relax and maybe get a drink or two and by the time she left she had a gaggle of people to invite to her hair and makeup shindig. It was going to be fun!
Moving to her writing desk she dug out some paper that she had intended on using for invitations at some point and now had a reason. It was thick parchment that was a faded pink color, it was perfect! Each invitation was handwritten and meticulously done, the invitations themselves were simple and to the point.
Tank, her brindle coated English Mastiff, followed her around the sitting room as she planned out the changes she would make for the get together. Idly singing snatches of the musical she just got a role in as she went about the business of deciding how many mirrors she would bring in, where to put the table of refreshments and if she wanted to decorate. So engrossed she didn't even notice when Shane entered the room until she heard his deep chuckles.
"What?" Turning on her heels to glare at him with suspicion.
His hands immediately went up in a surrender motion. "Nothing Ducky. I don't think I've seen you like this since you returned to town." His features softened in that way they did when he was talking with his sister. "It's good to see. Did you need help with your wicked womens gathering" I know a few guys that wouldn't mind being the servant for the night for it." He waited a half second before continuing. "Mike is still dying to do something to impress you, ever since that day he saw you in your swimsuit."
He was already in the process of ducking when the pillow was thrown his way. "Stop that! He does not like me!" She thought about it a moment and decided. "But it might be nice to have someone to serve the drinks and the like. Not Mike though. It's going to be Legend....wait for it." She gave it a count of two before finishing, "Of Zelda awesome!"
He chuckled again and shook his head. "You really need to reign in some of the geekiness sis, how are you going to catch yourself a man?" He teased because he knew it would make her blush.
Sure enough, her cheeks turned a pale pink shade that matched the invitations in her hand now as she thrust them at his chest. "Deliver these." A sigh before adding. "Please. And I can't help the way I am, the Zelda thing is your fault, you gave it to me for Christmas!"
With a grin he patted her head. "I know, Ducky. I'll find someone suitable to help you with your party. Let me know if there is anything else I can do, yeah?"
She leaned against him and gave him a hug, she always felt so small against his much larger frame. "Thanks Shane. And any time you want to stop calling me Ducky, that'd be fine with me."
"Probably not going to happen until you have a kid that I can pass the name onto, Ducky. Be happy I don't call you that in public anymore.? With another pat to her head he turned to leave, he had a lot of mail to deliver.
