~Void~
Darkness.
All had become darkness, a never-ending void in which it floated, suspended, free from everything.
Free from pain.
Free from doubt.
Free from everything.
How had it gotten here"
It doesn't matter. Nothing really matters.
~Shimmerscale Lair~
The flickering of light in the air near the ceiling of the Shimmerscale Lair would be the first indication that this was not going to be a normal day.
The flash of light that explodes into being as the vortex of the Nexus opens, deposits something from its maw, and closes once more with a sound like a thunderclap.
What falls from that vortex is a geode, dark in color, crystalline sparkles of light bouncing from its faceted surface as it hits the floor of the lair hard enough to send a shard of it spinning across the cavernous room.
The crack of the crystal hitting the floor is shortly joined by many other, softer sounds of fragmenting crystal as several other cracks begin to show along the surface of the stone all at once, spreading in crazy spiderweb patterns.
