The koi show may become a yearly event that the siren would attend. She still had the one she had purchased the year prior, the opalescent fish she had smartly dubbed Pearl. Peaches didn't take a tour but did encourage any that seemed new to the auction to engage with the guides who were happy to take them around the cottage setting.

Peaches also took it upon herself to inform any interested in buying some of the gorgeous orange, red, black, and white fish about their habits, being sure to repeat herself to really hammer in the point:

"A stressed fish is a sad fish."

Shy arrives bright and early at Matilda's Ideas Cottage for the 4th Annual Koi Show & Auction.

Now that she has a new koi pond ....she needs fish. Making her way to the Cottage's backyard the female Viking is quite amazed at the various sizes of koi on display, which are also up for auction. She takes her time to observe and study the fish, and when she espies Matilda amongst the crowd she makes a bee-line over to the older woman to have a little chat. Naturally, Shy picks Matilda's brain, so-to-speak, to glean all that she can pertaining to the koi.

A member of the Ichiban Koi Club suggests that Shy visit the interior of the Idea's Cottage. After all, she will need supplies to keep her newly acquired friends happy and healthy.

By the time the Viking leaves the auction she is the proud owner of three beautiful koi: A white and red one that has a touch of black, a gold and black one, and a black and white one. She will name them, of course, but only after much consideration, and perhaps several suggestions from friends and family.

Another year, another koi fish show and auction. First time she went home with a golden koi she named Shi, whose current whereabouts being happily frolicking, or splashing, in a hotel lobby owned by an old flame. The second one, which she took home from the third auction' Also sported golden scales, along with the name Shishi, because she's unoriginal and wanted to pay homage to the first. Now it's the fourth event and she's looking for a third koi. Terry had used a late lunch break from work to meet up with Peaches at the auction. Her choice had been an easy one when she saw one of the fish sporting a look a little like dragon scales. No wonder she named it Long after a quick internet search.

She really, really needed to get to work on a koi pond now.

Nayun Takamine

Why had she been dragged to this? She had no need for koi fish as the embassy had an abundance of them. This did not stop her handmaidens from urging her to go along under the pretext of `Only watching`. "This one! Look at this one!" one said, while the other pointed in another direction and spoke much of the same. Nayun stood there with her arms crossed while the girls spoke of pretty colors, romance, and whatever else kind of subject came into their mind when cute fish were in front of them.

"This one. This one." Both seemed to agree on one of the fish that was about to go up on auction. Nayun closed her eyes and released a soft grunt. "There is no point. While I agreed to come watch the auction, I did not say I would actively participate."

"But you must! It can be a gift for Lisa." "Yes! You can tell her to keep and feed it...and.." the other girl was quick to carry on her friends line of thought. "and when you're away! She can look to it and think of you!"

The romance talk had them both giggling.

But not for long.

Nayun stared at the two of them long and hard. Enough to have both of the girls perk up and go quiet; they were still smiling though. Nayun's mind wrapped itself around the idea of the koi fish being used as a gift for Lisa. It would be proper - wouldn't it' That is how one goes about these sort of things when it comes to relationships; if that is indeed what Lisa and her had.

Nayun finally gave decisive nod and the girls began to bid as the fish of choice was put up in the next auction.

The Koi show was one of those events that the redneck refused to miss. And with the addition of a few more parks, and their ponds, and a few more community spaces, and their water features, she had some stocking to do.

Always best, in her mind, to find a few to show case and play off of as centerpieces rather than overcrowding and detracting.

She greeted everyone with sun warm smiles and little chin dipping nods as she moved through the show making her selections.

Minoko Funaki

It was renovation season again, or at least that was the season Minoko wanted it to be. When she first came to own the Black Scorpion Inn it could easily be described as a hole in the wall. There was no electricity in the small building, not small by usual standards but definitely lacking as far as an inn went. A third floor was added a few years later, along with the much needed electricity. Now, some years after that, Minoko was looking to improve on the inn's outdoor area. All they had currently was a stable and a vegetable garden. As far as bringing in more business went, a beer garden would probably be the most profitable option. It was through that train of thought that she realized she'd much prefer to go in the exact opposite direction and add a zen garden to the area. Nothing was concrete at the moment. This was the planning stage, if planning meant fighting with Patrick about money and consumer appeal. But she still had the desire to shop around, and the koi show seemed to be just the thing.

The innkeeper showed up for the event around noon and quickly joined in with one of the show's tours. A myriad of questions was asked, most having to do with how the fish dealt with the colder months, what they ate and how the breeding process went. Minoko marveled at the fish's lovely colors, thoroughly impressed with their general existence now that she knew of their hardy nature. Yes, now she was certain. Come next year she would have a pond to fill with koi of all colors, whether Patrick liked it or not.

Duci had never attended the Koi Show & Auction before, but on a whim she decided to attend this year. Conveniently, she was feeling very Koi in her attire. The blonde didn't particularly care for fish as companions, as she had Mez who ate fish for fun. Hugs were given to Peaches and Terry, and at the Siren's bidding, she found herself on the tour.

She had to admit, koi were beautiful, and it was easy to catch herself stopping to admire them. Subtly, she noted how interested Terry was with the fish before she left to return to work. Even though she watched her buy one, she decided to buy her another. It was the most beautiful one she had seen, and she appropriately named it Deuces.

It was an asagi butterfly koi that shimmered a blue-silver among the orange and white scales. A diamond in the rough. "It's beautiful," she murmured, carefully transporting it home to prepare to give it to Terry as a gift at a later date.
