Batosai

This world was a lush and full of succulent prey, if one knew where to hunt.

Batosai thought to himself as he tracked his latest choice morsel, some elf woman he had spotted walking through the marketplace doing whatever errands brought her here. As she passed the feline alien, her scent nearly overpowered him right there, and one of his shakti made an involuntary lunge, barely restrained before the talons could make contact with her flesh.

He'd followed her from the market, climbing up to ledges and rooftops, trying not to be seen by too many of the crowd. Thankfully most of those here were actually used to this form of travel, that he was able to shadow the woman almost too easily. It almost took the fun out of the hunt. Finally the elf left the crowds behind and began walking down less busy streets. It would be soon. Another turn and the woman stopped, kneeling to check her shoes; perhaps to pull a rock out of them?

Batosai chose that moment, with a low snarl the feline leapt down from the ledge he'd been crouched on. Hands spread out wide, the talons in his feet rearing back like a cobra, as did the tentacle-like shakti on his back. Another snarl as his feet landed on the woman's back, the talons suddenly swinging forwards and down, hooking into her body as she let out a cry of pain. Her body tipped forwards with his weight, and the two shakti snapped out, hooked talons digging into the woman's thighs and pulling back hard to steady his balance as she landed with a thud on the ground.

Before she could scream again, the feline planted his palms on her back and tensed specific muscles in his wrist. The bone spike in his forearm snapped out three inches, piercing into her side. The hollow channel in the bone began pumping a combination of neurotoxin, anasthetic, and adrenalin; to paralyze, dull the pain, and keep the elf alive longer. After all, the Hrrakiir preferred their prey live.

The catch complete, Batosai settled next to the now paralyzed woman. "I'm sorry, but you won't be returning home tonight. Just so you know, it's nothing personal, but it's been too long since I fed; and you....You smell absolutely delicious." Leaning close and sniffing at her neck, he finds the right spot and one of the shakti release their hold on her legs. There, right in the middle of the three talons was a small fanged mouth, almost like a lamprey. Extending a claw on his forefinger, the predator slices open her jugular. Before her blood can empty more than two spurts, the mouth on the shakti closes on the wound, drinking down her hot blood. Batosai closes his eyes and savors the sensation of her magic-rich blood flowing into his body. It was different than the species he fed on back home, but certainly satisfying and nourishing.

Twenty minutes later, he licks the blood off his fur and strides down the alley back into the city. The woman's corpse left behind...

The predator stalked the streets of the marketplace, muttering to himself. Two days since he fed last, and that elf hadn't had much Shii'Koh, much Power. So now he was back in this place looking for any likely Prey. His body was already starting to feel the effects of the Hunger, and it would only be another day before withdrawl symptoms became visible. There, ahead of him he caught a scent. It was faint, but exactly what he needed. Magical beings were fine for getting by, but to really sate the Hunger, only a Shii'Koh user would do. Ahhh, the scent was coming from a male, looked human. And yes, there at his belt was a lightsaber. Force user, young by the looks of it. Still, he might be just the sort of Prey the feline needed to get him through the next week. Jumping across to the next building, damping his thoughts as much as possible, body running more on instinct than thought now. Another leap, catching a signpost with a shakti and swinging out above the young Jedi. Now a low snarl lets out as limbs spread wide, trying to catch the young man by any part of his body...

Ammy walked the street slowly. She was still a little wet from the Nexus Thermae bath house, but she felt better. She studdied the destruction the street had taken the previous day. She was headed to see the condition of the Shaved Kurrii. Walking up the porch she stared at the shattered door. She sat on the poarch swing and contemplated things. "Heh, I join the SA for a job when I get here. Now that my people are enslaved and at war, I am on the verge of fighting the SA as well." She traced a few runes in the air then a circle around it. She closed her eyes, breathed deep and glowed white. She breathed white mist out and she could feel the door fragments melting and reforming. She felt currents in the magic and a strange energy floating in. It had a feline tinge to it.

Two people in the crowd screamed out as the feline dropped from the rooftops, giving the Jedi that half-second warning to drop and roll forwards. Batosai hit the ground with a thud and snarled like a wildcat, then dropped into a spinning kick, knocking the Jedi's legs from under him before he could regain his balance. Lightsaber scattered across the cobblestones. Batosai followed through the spin of the kick, rising back up and trying a heel drop, the Jedi rolling out of the way just in time. He wasn't so lucky in evading the whip-like attack of the shakti that raked across his face, gouging deep across one eye and nearly severing his nose.

Screams caught her attention. She stopped her work. The door could wait or be replaced by Brutin. She stood and made her way to the screams. She could see a small crowd of horrified humans in the street and several people running away as well. She walked a little quicker. "What in Lupinoss is going on here." She wondered.

The Jedi staggered from the pain, then turned to try and catch his lightsaber as it flew towards his hand. Batosai took advantage of the moment's hesitation and lunged forwards, both palms spread wide. Ducking under the lightsaber as it ignited, Batosai slammed one palm into the Jedi's shoulder, another into his belly. Almost instantly his arm-spikes shot forwards one inch each, injecting the Hrrakiir venom. That complete, Batosai dodged the poorly aimed sweep of the lightsaber and rolled back to wait.

She managed to get through the crowd and saw the attack. She recognized the felinoid from the tavern. His jedi prey though, she didn't know. Though her feelings on jedi after last night left her just standing and watching. She etched a few runes and put up a barier around the hunting area to keep the spectators safe and she just watched. A part of her wanted to see a Jedi torn apart for striking Hex last night.

It only took seconds, then the Jedi started to stagger as his limbs went steadily more numb. Lightsaber falling from nerveless fingers, melting a few cobblestones before shutting off. The Jedi slumps to the ground. Smiling ferally, Batosai pads over and checks the young man's pulse. "Nothing personal, but everyone has to feed, and you smell delicious." His head snapped up as he caught the lupine's scent and her magic. "Getting involved now are we?"

She just watched and let out a flat response. "Just keeping the spectators safe. I am not interfering with your hunt."

That got a chuckle as Batosai leaned over to lift the Jedi to his shoulders, finally looking back at Ammy. "Good." With that, he crouched and leapt straight up to the nearest rooftop.

Watched him leap away then looked at the people scowling at her. She showed teeth and walked back to the Shaved Kurrii. Once she got there, she went back to piecing the streets together. She ignored the half repaired door. Something was turning inside her and she was no longer pleased to be involved with SA. She traced circles by each area devestated. And placed a soul battery in each circle. She then went back to the porch and sat on the deck. She traced a circle around her and a few command sigils. She closed her eyes and once again, gathered manna in to the paver stones of the streets. Stone melted and reformed. Each soul battery acting as an amplifier and reserve for each area.

Several leaps from roof to roof and he was a good quarter mile from the original scene, letting the Jedi drop to the brick roof. "Like I said, you smell delicious." Using a finger-claw to slice the front of the man's tunic open, his eyes wide and staring. Another snarl as Batosai stands up, placing his paw on the Jedi's chest just below his ribs, one foot-talon suddenly swung downwards, tearing into his gut and opening his belly. No scream fled the Jedi's lips, his voice stilled by the paralytic toxin. Before the man could bleed to death though, both of Batosai's shakti snapped out and dove into the wound, working their way up the chest cavity to his heart. The lamprey-like maws on the tentacles latching onto the still beating organ and drinking deeply. Batosai closed his eyes and relished in the feeling as the young man's Force-rich blood flowed up the shakti and into his own body, the strength returning to him as the drug-like high settled over his mind. Rearing back his head and arching his spine, he let out a feral, lion-like roar. The sound of a predator proclaiming his territory...

The roar reached her ears and she pushed it out of her mind. Arak would have been proud to see how well she had improved. With the street fixed she gathered up the soul batteries and walked away.

Things were quiet in the forests outside the city, and near what most came to know of as the Southern Glen, the nighttime rain kept most animals quiet, waiting out the weather in whatever burrow or nest they chose.

The sound of hoofbeats disturbed the otherwise quiet rain, followed by a panic-filled whinney, suggesting an equine of some heritage.

The hoofbeats increased in volume as the animal neared the glen, finally coming into view as it cleared the last of the trees. A perfectly white unicorn stallion, eyes wide and breath steaming in the chill air as it raced madly for it's life. Into, through, and out the other side of the clearing it ran...

For the span of two seconds, nothing else disturbed the night, nothing to indicate the source of the unicorn's flight. The rustling of branches, then the predator leapt out from the trees on one side of the clearing. Hitting the ground on all fours, the feline continued to lope easily. When it was in range of the opposite trees, Batosai leapt again. His paws barely touching a branch before jumping again, bouncing from tree to tree in pursuit of the beast.

Batosai smiled his fang-filled predator's smile, enjoying the chase almost as much as it's conclusion. Feeling the wind whip past him as he leapt from branch to branch, only occasionally augmenting his normal abilities with his Shii'Koh. This was the thrill he enjoyed. Even though the actual act of feeding sang through his very bones, the music of the chase was sweeter still. Another jump and he caught up with the unicorn below, a second and he was ahead. Yes, the beast was finally tiring, and soon it would be time to make the kill.

The unicorn was one of the unintelligent variety, but still possessed of potent innate magic, which was exactly why the predator had chosen it for his next meal. There! Panting hard, the animal's vision clouded just long enough to miss spotting a root jutting up from the ground. With a shrill cry of alarm, the equine's leg caught and the beast was pitched forwards, a dull crack as it's leg broke under the strain.

Batosai wasted no time, a feral yowl issued as he jumped down from the treetops, arms and shakti wide as he landed on the unicorn's chest. Immediately his toe-talons swung down and hooked into the animal's flesh, securing his stance as he knelt down to deliver the blow. Both palms slapped against hide and the bone-spurs in his arms shot forwards, delivering their venom in an instant.

As the beast began to thrash in pain and panic, Batosai released his toe-talons and jumped back, waiting for the potent neurotoxins to take effect. The unicorn's innate magic was already healing the wounds, but could not deal with the venom in time. Soon the thrashing slowed, and stilled altogether, only heartbeat and breathing were left to the animal.

The predator gave a slight shivver of anticipation as he walked back to the unicorn's side. Caressing the animal's head and neck almost fondly, "Now now....Your life is at an end I'm afraid, but you die for a purpose. All beasts must feed when they hunger, and so too must I."

Reaching a hand along the unicorn's chest, finally finding the strong beating behind the flesh. Hooking a finger, his claw slices a neat incision between the ribs. At once both his shakti dart forwards, talons and muscles carving and pushing their way into the wound and deeper into the unicorn's chest. The beast's eyes go wider as it can feel the tearing, even though there is no pain. Finally the lamprey-like mouths on the predator's shakti latch onto the beating organ, drinking deep for as long as possible.

Once again Batosai could feel the animal's Power flowing into his body along with the blood, coursing through him and banishing the Hunger. Closing his eyes and rearing his head, he lets out a leonine roar...

((OOC Note: Once again this post is adapted from the live chat log. Unlike before, I have been asked to leave Morriah's text intact as she typed it that night. I will color each person's line as such, green for Morriah, and red for Batosai.))

<she swoops into the glenon black feathered wings and gluides down to land among the thicket near her cave. dressed in loose leg black pants and a matching halter vest she crouches low to the ground looking about to make sure no one would threaten her. not seeing anyone she stands and walks on bare feet through the woods towards the lake. her gold-green eyes glowing in the dimn moonlight like a cat's in the dark.> <she stops to pick a wildflower on the side of the path and then seeing a whole field of them in shades of yellow, white, purple, and blue she steps off the path and sits in the middle of them picking them and braiding the stems. her brown and tan tiger tail wraps around her thigh as she gets comfortable. she plucks a purple flower and holds it up to the light to make sure the petals are perfect and then into the mixture it goes. she begins to hum a lullaby her people sang to their young on cold nights and it carries on the wind. her wings shift to fold at her back in a better possition. she plucks another bloom this one white and holds it up to the light as well. not liking the spacing of the petals, she drops it into the grassy field she is sitting in and plucks another white one. this one she likes but instead of braiding it into the other flowers she braids it into a lock of her dark auburn hair.>

The predator was stalking new prey this time. A chance encounter and he'd discovered that certain were-beasts were in fact nourishing after all, so with the Hunger nibbling at the edge of his senses again, he'd gone out to the forest where he'd encountered the last pack of werewolves. Swift, nearly silent jumps among the treetops propelled him over the forest landscape. So far he'd had no luck, so a quick wash at the lake was in order.

<she takes out the braid in her hair and brushes out the waist length wavy curls with her fingers.then once it is hanging down her back and about her shoulders she picks up the braided flower mix and starts working on them again humming that lullaby of long ago ghosts.>

A pause in one tree as the wind shifted, bringing new scents from near the lake. Inhaling deeply, and blinking in suprise. That one was familliar to him. Back in motion again, barely rustling the leaves or branches as he jumped from tree to tree, finally coming up on the field of flowers. Aha, it *was* the woman from the alleyway. His trademark fang-filled grin spreads across his muzzle as he drops down from the tree, walking casually into sight.

<she jumps at the sudden movement and looks up at him but doesn't stop her braiding. an eyebrow raises as she wonders if he will be a threat to her.> "good evening."

That grin still on his muzzle as he paused outside threat range, "So, did he live?" Canting his head to the side in curiousity.

<a hardness not like her appears in her eyes. She nods and looks back to the flowers plucking a yellow one and holding it to the light.>

The grin was still there, if anything it got slightly wider. "Ahhh, good. I'll take my payment now. You still have that necklace?" Walking a couple more paces, but still well outside arm reach.

<she reaches into a pocket and tosses the necklace at him. Then braids the flower into the mix and finishes it off by tieing it into a crown. She places the crown of yellow, white, purple and blue blossoms onto her head.>

Catching the jewelry in midair, again inspecting the gems for their value before finally nodding. "This will do. Pleasure doing business with you." Nodding again to her before relaxing and dropping down to his haunches. "Tell me, have you seen any werewolves around here by chance?"

<she then lays back on the grass careful not to crush any flowers. her wings spread out on either side but not in the way. she closes her eyes no longer caring if she is attacked from above or not. a thoughtful expression comes to her face at his question then she shakes her head without opening her eyes.> "only myself and you. I was on my way to the lake for a dip but got sidetracked."

"Damn. I had their scent around here yesterday, was hoping this was their usual territory. Ah well, I'll find something eventually." He *should* get up and be on his way, but for some reason something in the back of his mind was telling him to stay. Shaking his head and shrugging faintly, the predator follows suit, tilting back until he lands on his back, shakti splayed out to either side.

<an eye opens to see him lying as well but then closes once more. with a sigh she lifts her hand and begins tracing a pattern in the air.> "I live in a cave around here and have seen some frequently. so perhaps the are just hunting in a different spot?"

"Ahhh, now that is useful information, thank you Miss. I think a quick wash in the lake myself and I'll be on my way." With that he tensed his legs and did a kickup to get to his feet, a half-bow from the waist before setting off towards the water, padding along casually as before.

<she sits up not sure if she wants to remain alone. she tilts her head to the side and with a flap of her wings she is in the tree above. she strips of her suit and into a black two piece. then with another flap of her wings she is riding in the air towards the lake.>

Flying as she is, she'd make it to the water's edge before he would. Seeing her overhead didn't cause him to increase speed either, it wasn't a race after all.

<when she reaches the lake she soars higher into the air then as she gets to the deepest part of the water, she folds her wings and torpidos into the water with a small splash.>

A soft chuckle at the woman's antics, finally reaching the shore of the lake. Unbuckling his vest and equipment belt, then stripping off the shirt and shorts, tucking everything away in a neat bundle by a log. Now unburdened and unclothed, the predator makes his way out into the cold water, diving in when it was deep enough.

<her head pops up and an empish grin wrinkles her freckled nose. then she darts under the water once more moving fluidly like a mermaid as if she was born for the water. twisting and turning she plays around having a grand time of herself.>

Batosai was relaxing for a rare moment, swimming out a few yards from shore, then rising up and floating on his back, shakti trailing behind him as he slowly fanned his arms in the water and stared at the sky.

<then she pauses and looks around seeing well under the dark waters. she sees a fish a large one with an orange belly and silver shiny scales. her face sets in determination and she tenses up holding very still. Waiting for the perfect moment to strike. the fish swims closer not realizing the danger waiting for it. she doesn't move. not even so much as a bubble coming from her mouth. the fish swims closer still. then right as it goes to change directions and shows its side to her she charges. Darting through the water, grabs the fish within her fangs and surfaces. The fish wiggling in her mouth. she takes a clawed hand and holds it up a pleasant smile on her face.>

"Nice catch." The predator chuckled softly as he rolled upright to watch the woman.

<she swims smoothly to a rock and places the fish ontop but far enough away that it won't flop back into the water. then she dives back down and spears another fish in the same manner. this one twice as big and hard to hold in her hands it is wiggling so badly she quickly gets it to the rock.>

For some reason watching this woman fish like that was amusing. Coal greys kept track over her progress till another shape caught his eyes. There, on the shore of the lake he caught an unmistakable form. Fangs bared fully as he smiled predatorially. "Excuse me a moment, it seems my own dinner has shown up."

<she starts as she had forgotten him in her fun. But then she smiles and nods. she dives back under the water and shoots down to the bottom of the lake.>

Another chuckle as he forms a hand sign under the water, his body soon rising up to stand on the surface of the lake. Nudity didn't concern him, though this hunt might get interesting without his weapons. Still, he wasn't sure how long the werewolf would stay there. Good, it was still looking the other way.

<then a thought comes to her and she swims in the oposite direction that he is going. still at the bottom of the lake she cirles round and then hops up into the tree limb that dangles over the water's edge hoping to keep the werewolf's attention towards her and not the hunter so that he might have more of an element of surprise. leaning over but careful not to loose her balance she drops an accorn into the water making a soft sploosh.>

Morriah's efforts were noted, and while they'd be appreciated, they weren't needed just yet. The werewolf had caught her form moving around and looked up curiously, this one was one of the nearly feral werebeasts. She was different than it's usual prey, and out of reach for the moment, so just a curiousity. Batosai meanwhile concentrated, then flashstepped, his movements blurring to the naked eye as he literally *ran* across the surface of the water, heading right for the wolf.

<she leans forward to watch hoping it will be interesting but most because she had a way too curious nature.>

Batosai was almost upon the werewolf when his ears flicked at the unusual sound, turning just in time for the leap-kick the feline aimed at his midsection to land. Wolf and cat went tumbling, crashing into a tree, with Batosay halfway up the trunk before the wolf could recover.

<her eyes glitter with the thrill of the hunt and she leaps up into the tree and over to above the fight. she crouches low her tiger tail swishing above her body and her tiger ears twitching. her wings are at the ready so she can jump in should he show that he needs help.>

Batosai was setting up a leg-drop when the wolf snarled and slashed right into the tree, claws growing mid-swing and nearly felling the tree right there. While the tree was still standing, the impact did end up spoiling the feline's aim and he dropped down right in front of the wolf. A sudden twist of his spine and what should have been a fatal impalement by werewolf claws instead became only a deep gash across his right shoulder. Carrying through with the turn, he snapped his left shakti out like a whip, raking the talons across the wolf's eyes, who howled in pain and staggered back.

<grinning she just stays where she is waiting to see what happens next and forgetting all about her fish for this was far more interesting.>

Batosai had the advantage again, one of the wolf's eyes was gouged out, the other intact but temporarily blinded. Now was his chance. Ducking low, he kicked off and lunged forwards, both palms opening wide and connecting with the wolf's chest. An instant later the feline's bone spikes stabbed deep, deeper than usual due to the werewolf's endurance. After delivering his toxin, Batosai jerked his hands free and rolled to the side as the wolf swiped where his head was just previously.

<seeing he had everything under control she crawls silently back to the branch overhanging the water and lays acrossed it like a contented cat. her black feathered wings folded at her back and her tail swishing to and fro above the water's surface.>

Batosai stood there, half-crouched as he waited for the wolf to attack or for the toxin to take effect. The wolf for his part was shaking his head, blinking his remaining eye. A deep growl as he took two steps towards Batosai, and tipped forwards to land on his face. Finally the feline relaxed some, chuckling softly as he moved over and rolled the werewolf onto his back.

<she is still laying on the branch but now she is clapping wildly. a big grin on her lips almost big enough to show her fangs.> "good show."

Blinking slightly and looking up at the woman in the tree, then chuckling. "Hopefully you have a strong stomach for the second act." Kneeling down beside the now-paralyzed wolf's head. "I don't know if there's anything in there that understands, but this is nothing personal. Your life is over because I must feed to survive. We all serve a purpose, yours now is as my prey."

<she leans over a little more to see better as the kill is her favorite part. not that she is unkind mind you, simply the animal in her coming out.>

The predator ran his palms across the werewolf's heaving chest, the beast was breathing rapidly as it's animalistic mind tried to deal with the situation. It knew it was about to die, and was trying franticly to find a way to avoid that fate. Batosai finally found the heartbeat, a few inches off from where a human heart would be. One of his shakti curled over his shoulder, then with a dart slashed into the fur and flesh between the ribs. A finger slid into the wound, claw opening the muscle further till he could feel the opening. Both his shakti slid into the wound, talons curled out of the way. When the two limbs found the heart, the lamprey-like mouthes on the end latched onto the beating organ, drinking deeply. Batosai closed his eyes, feeling the Power-rich blood flowing up his shakti into his body. Tilting his head back, he let out a feral, lion-like roar.

<her eyes widen as she has never seen this type of feeding before. It thrilled her and yet at the same time, she felt a little sorry for the animal. she leans over to get a better look and looses her balance, tumbling into the water ungracefully.>

Batosai didn't even notice Morriah's fall from grace. He felt the Power filling his body, banishing the Hunger which had been growing. Finally the beating stopped and his shakti released the now dead organ. Shaking his head to clear the drug-like high, he reaches over and closes the eyelids of the now-dead beast. "May your next life be more peaceful than this one."

<she pops her head back up now drenched and crawls up onto the shore. then stands and goes over to where he and the beast lay. her eyes slightly glazed she bends down and curiously puts a hand to its side.>

"You can have the meat if you want." Standing and walking over to the lake shore to wash off the blood. The wound in his arm was already closing over, but would take a few hours to heal fully.

<she just runs a hand over its fur as if petting it. a small tear slides down her cheek as she can feel its pain and terror still lurking about. she very gently scoops up the head and hind quarters of the animal carrying it fully. she rises up and turns looking this way and that.>

Batosai was crouched on the lake shore washing the blood from his fur, he could hear her move about, but otherwise was uninterested.

<then with a flap of her wings she takes to the air and fast as lightening she darts into one of the caves. a short while later she returns. blood covering her fully and matting her long hair. the body of the werewolf gone. she lands on that same branch and strips down to her skin tossing the clothes onto the shore where they burst into flames. she then dives into the water and down deep to the bottom.>

A soft chuckle to himself as he spots the red-coated female dive into the water.

<she runs her fingers through the dirt as she glides along the water. then clasping something she surfaces some feet off shore. she then swims to the rock where the fish have been laid and are now dead. she pulls herself up onto it and poors some type of thick liquid into her palm from the bottle she retrieved from the lake.>

Still crouched there by the shoreline, the predator watched Morriah curiously. His Hunger sated, he was almost more a curious housecat than the feral predator of earlier.

((OOC Note: Once again this post is adapted from the live chat log. I have preserved the original text of Shandren Hex.))

Despite the increasing Hunger, Batosai kept a careful distance between he and his quarry. It wouldn't be the first time he'd underestimated the beings here on Rhydin, and he was quickly learning from those mistakes. As weak as he was now, with the Hunger stronger than any other time since coming to this world, he could afford no more mistakes. So he kept to the rooftops, usually staying a block behind as he watched carefully.

:: She seemed to be wandering aimlessly, weaving mostly down alleys and avoiding lights where she could. Something about the set of her shoulders hinted at seething anger mixed with black despair. and nothing would lead a watcher to think she was even aware of her surroundings.::

The predator watched for a few moments more, just to satisfy himself that she was indeed nearly oblivious to his pursuit. A muffled growl passed his lips as another wave of Hunger washed over his body. It would have to be soon, before he lost control. Picking up speed and leaping high overhead, he landed on the building in front of her current path, cautious to keep sound to a minimum.

:: she pauses, apparently to pick something from the sole of a bare pawlike foot, growling angrily and tossing the offending item aside.::

Now was his chance, another barely suppressed growl as he leaned forwards and dropped from the three story building, twisting in midair and aiming his own oversized paws at her shoulders and back while she was leaning over.

:: a growl and twist, all she succeded in doing was ending up on her side on the ground.::

As soon as his feet hit the ground, one leg swept up into a kick aimed at her midsection, trying to lift her up off the ground with the force if it connected.

:: She was heavier than she looked, her bulk more tigerlike than human. The kick moved her, but across the ground into the wall not up into the air. She groaned and tried to scrabble to her feet flames springing up in the rubbish around her.::

Damn, he'd have to be careful of that pyrokinesis. The predator didn't let up, moving with the momentum from the aborted kick and rolling forwards, aiming a fist for her face. If he couldn't take her down by sheer force, perhaps disorientation may work.

:: She hadn't been expecting that. The flames around her flared higher, but died to embers as the fist connected with her face.::

Keeping his arm out, fingers opening and moving down from her face to grab whatever clothing she had, tapping his Shii'Koh briefly to afford the extra strength needed to haul back to try and throw her over his shoulder towards the opposite wall of the alleyway.

:: she gave a hiss as she was tossed over his shoulder, trying to throw her weight to the side:: Bassstard. Let me down.

As her weight went flying, he dropped and rolled with the momentum, following behind only slightly slower. Coming up to his feet in a combat crouch a foot from where she landed.

:: She was crouched herself, the flames springing up around her again, waist high. Into her hand flashed a glass blade its surface dancing with more flames::

That brought a smile to his lips, he should have ended this earlier, but was starting to enjoy the fight. "Nice trick." Holding his hands out, palms bared, a tensing of muscles and the bone-spikes in his arms extended from the opening at the base of his wrists, each two feet long with three razor-sharp edges.

::she growls low in her throat:: What the hell is your problem?

"You'll know soon enough." A quick feint to the left, then he ducked low and came in from the right, trying to catch her sword off guard with one arm while the other was aimed at her midsection.

::She wasn't exactly expert with the blade. Her parry was a bit off, and so was the dive to the side she made. His spike grazed her stomach the wound swiftly welling with blood.:: :: The flames around the alley flared again, head height this time and wild, catching and spreading with no control.::

Blood wasn't the only thing either, even the brief contact allowed the toxins coating the edges on the spikes to get into the wound. A potent combination of anasthetic and paralitic neurotoxin. With such a small dose it wouldn't prove debilitating, but it may just be noticeable. Batosai spun around and adjusted his facing, keeping just out of reach of her sword.

:: she was crouching again, the arm not holding up the blade curling protectively around the wound. It was odd that it throbbed outside the wound but the wound itself didn't hurt. She didn't spend much time trying to puzzle that out, instead trying to back down the alley towards the open square behind::

It took a couple seconds before the predator realized her intent was to run, growling in annoyance, he jumped forwards, and very very high. Connecting with the second story wall and bounding off, trying to get ahead of her and cut off that escape route. "This can end quietly, easily."

::her steps dragged slightly and her progress was slow. Her breathing was ragged and her gaze was almost feverish. A trash can to her right explodes as her skill goes completely out of controll. When she realized he was behind her, she sunk to her knees with a defeated sob::

Another opening, and he took it. Darting in and jabbing her with both spikes, one in the shoulder, the other in the ribs. Neither attack was meant to cause any serious injury, just enough to inject more of his toxins into her body. "We all have a destiny, a purpose in life. That purpose changes with every day, every choice, every breath we take."

:: she wasn't quite done fighting, the glass blade explodes in her hand shooting shards in random directions, the largest of them shooting straight at him::

Okay, that took him completely by suprise! The glass shard ends up settling right between two of his lower ribs, gaining a snarl of pain and rage from the predator. He spun with the impact, but had just enough awareness to whip out one of his shakti, the inch-long talons on the end snapping in the wind, aiming for her face.

:: She was defeated, panting and broken in her crouch so the weapon took her by surprise, right in the side of the face::

The wounded predator lay where he land for a few precious seconds, hopefully those same seconds his toxin would be working through her system. Finally he struggles to his feet and looks down at the wound, wincing in pain. "You know, normally this isn't personal; but I think you've changed that now."

:: All she could do was hiss in frustration::

"And now....This is the part where you die so that I may feed." Walking over, the feline kneels at her side, running a hand over her neck, feeling her pulse.

::the hilt that was all that remained of the glass blade fell from her hand. His toxins were working very well indeed. Her pulse was eratic, and the flames around them flickered in time with it::

Damn, he'd have to feed quickly before she died. Both his shakti came in over her neck, the talons spreading and the lamprey-like mouths inside snapping hungrily. Curling a finger, he used a claw to make a small cut in either side of her throat, piercing both arteries. His shakti attached themselves to the wounds as soon as they were made, a gentle suction serving to draw in the flowing blood.

:: she groaned softly, about all she had strength left to do, the flames died out as the blood flowed and she gave up::

As her blood was slowly drained, and with it her own innate Power, the predator made one last violation. He pulled a vial from a pouch, catching some of her blood in it, saving the sample in case Travanix and Romax were able to deliver their clones as promised. This done, he let himself fall into the drug-like high as he Fed, regaining his lost strength and letting out a predatorial roar.

((OOC Note: From this point on I have written the rest of this scene by myself, and this will be cross-posted to the Rhydin Cemetary.))

Finally her heart beat it's last, and Batosai removed his shakti from the wounds. Leaning over, he gently closed the eyes of the once half-tiger. Arms slid under the fallen and he stood up, calling on his renewed strength as he jumped up to the rooftops, heading for the cemetary.

For the first time on this world, the predator felt some semblance of remorse and regret for what he was forced to do merely to survive. It was true that tonight the Hunger had nearly taken complete control of him, and if he hadn't fed on this female, things would have been much worse. Still, as he looked at her now lifeless body, he couldn't help but wonder at her very feline beauty, almost like the females of his own kind.

Sighing deeply, he banished those thoughts with a shake of his head. It was done and she was dead. There was no going back now that this had happened. He could now do only one thing for her, a proper burial and honor her spirit.

Reaching the cemetary, Batosai looked for an unused piece of land, finally finding one near the hedges and rose bushes along the sides of the cemetary. Setting his burden down, wincing as a stab of pain comes from the wound in his side, the glass shard still embedded there, he'd tend to that later. Fingers and hands moving rapidly, forming hand signs to focus his Shii'Koh. "Earth style. Sand trap Arte!" Before him, the ground suddenly bucked, then a body-sized depression formed in the ground, a pre-made grave.

Batosai looked over at the new grave, then her body again, finally shaking his head. Drawing a knife, the predator moved over to a nearby tree and cut off a branch. Taking the branch over to her body, he planted the limb into the ground, then focused his Shii'Koh again, forming a new series of hand signs, "Hidden Arte, Mukoton!" He forced his Shii'Koh into the severed branch, directing the plant's cells to awaken and begin rapidly growing. The branch grew up and across the tigress' body, wrapping new branches and quickly forming into a living, grown coffin of tightly packed tree limbs.

Batosai moved over to the coffin and reached under to cut the slim branch that connected the new growth to the ground. Hefting the coffin carefully, he gently placed the whole thing into the new grave. Another Arte later, and the earth filled the grave, and a chunk of marble heaved itself from deep underground to serve as a marker. A few minutes with a kunai knife, and Batosai finally padded away, off to the Red Dragon to see to his wounds.

Behind, the marble shone white in the moonlight, and one surface bore the words: ~Here lies a valiant warrior.~ ~She gave her life so that another might live. ~Let all who pass this place honor her spirit for all time.~
