The Golden Ivy Inn is a carefully created, classic 28 room Inn and Conference Center across the road from the Talanador Tower in the Old Temple/Southgate District famous for entertaining Duelists for many, many years. It was especially popular during the heyday of the Arena. The second incarnation of this property is majestically situated on the well landscaped area, the original having been destroyed by the Evil Ganderfald Family! The stately Main House offers the spacious guest bedrooms/baths(most with fire places), and a spectacular master suite with private deck and a view of the River that splits the city of Rhydin, usually reserved for special guests or G'nort himself. The antique styled building boasts a large dining room, spacious guest parlor, kitchen, and wrap-around porch.

The building provides for greater privacy with individually accessed rooms plus a two room suite, all with private baths, refrigeration (Provided by Fyrentennimar, the White Dragon who lives in the extremely large freezer in the kitchen) and entertainment, and with balconies to view the beautifully landscaped grounds and river. A sizable game/reading room rounds out the facility. The main lobby is more than just an area for people to meet or get a room. There is a spacious bar stocked with all manners of drinks as well as several tables for those who are looking to dine. Behind that bar is an old fashioned pair of diner doors that lead to the kitchen, which is manned by the Dwarf Gourmet Chef.

The Tiefling's Den.

The Tiefling's Den is actually two buildings connected by a canopied breezeway the patrons have begun calling a porch. Behind the complex, in the middle of a large grassy area is a pool that is always kept sparkling clean, and is always the perfect temperature (even in the middle of the winter).

The Den caters to persons with more ....exotic tastes in refreshment. A seedy establishment where information can be exchanged over a meal that may or may not have been someone's favored pet (in pretty much any connotation of the term) an hour or two before. Slicked over with the sort of gloss and shine that had tourists, and more than a few locals wondering whether or not the rumors were truth or fiction.

Anything, everything quite nearly, available in the Multiverse for the right price, can be acquired through contacts made over a truly excellent steak, or a glass of superb wine.

Originally opened in the kitchen of a private home, over the years the Garden has grown its customer base steadily one wildly successful event at a time.

The Black Sands Inn and Tavern

A venerable old building, well loved by generations of proprietors and patrons alike, the Inn is a three storied affair situated on the eastern shore of a large lake, from which the Inn gets its name. Sugar fine, the sands are volcanic black, and the water perfectly clear to a depth of twenty feet. Located outside the city proper the Black Sands has been considered by more than a few as a destination location for over a decade.

Beyond the black sand beaches and crystal waters, it's the Grand Ball Room, and it's unparalleled view up through the bottom of the lake itself, thanks to heavy duty master crafted glass ceiling.

The Brambles

Location: In one of those strange border areas between one place and the next that could really be anywhere, though close-ish to the West End

A community center in an old sense of the term. The Brambles are designed to be a part of the community. The lay out and set up encourage people to treat the building as an extension of their own homes. A place to gather during the evening and share a meal, to settle in the heat of the day and dangle your toes in the water of one of the ponds. A place to gather herbs or some veg or some pigeons, or their eggs, for supper.

A place to just, be for a few hours of the day.

Rooms are offered on the upper-stories should a person need a place for a bit, or for longer. Showers, bathing rooms, community kitchens, and community laundry facilities are also available. There's always a Granny or an Auntie around to tell a story, wipe a nose or give a stern lecture to depending on the occurrence.

Lemnos Craftworks

Owned and operated by Hephaestus, Lemnos Craftworks is a forge and metalwork shop in the heart of Old Market. Aside from the usual array of weapons, armor, and tools found in any smithy for the casual buyer, one can also find intricate devices such as clockwork flowers that unfold with the press of a button, or shadow sculptures designed to hang in a sunlit window and cast patterns on a nearby wall that change throughout the day to tell any number of stories.

Custom work is available by commission. Rates are reasonable and depend on the delicacy of the work, the nature of any special enhancements, and the intent of the buyer.

Java Hell might just be the most popular coffee shop in the West End. If that sounds like it's damning with faint praise, well, people have been known to come from all over the city to venture into that wild and woolly neighborhood for their coffee and beignets. The place has been in business for over eight years now, and continues to provide no-frills coffee and espresso drinks and baked goods around the clock to the city that never sleeps.

West End Local Color description

Java Hell takes a sort of shabby pride in being anti-mainstream. The furniture is a mishmash of thrift store castoffs, like a college student's apartment; the equipment, which has to stand up against the shifting nature of the West End, is old, battered, and much-repaired. That they function at all is a testament to the love and dedication the staff have for their craft and their store. The first thing you notice on entry is the smell - fresh roasted and fresh brewed coffee, sugary baked things, and the crisp smell of fried dough, overlaid with the spicy scent of Alex's clove cigarettes. She's the only one allowed to smoke in the shop, on pain of banishment - a punishment backed up by the heavy duty protective wards laid on the grounds after the first time someone was stupid enough to rob the place. It's a punishment that's only rarely been inflicted, since most people don't want to risk missing out on the best coffee in the city.

Long before "Third Wave Coffee" was a movement, Java Hell were doing their thing. You can ask for a pour-over, but you might get it poured over your head. Regulars can expect to be treated like family, which means you might just get pulled aside by your ear and yelled at for doing something really stupid. Java Hell acts as neutral ground between the warring factions and gangs of the West End, and it's not unusual to find parties that would otherwise be busy shooting or stabbing each other out on the street sitting down over a French press and ironing out peace treaties.
