Months now the large galleon like ship kept to the docks. Gutted out long ago the ship was fashioned more like a home on the water, easy to house four in comfort with a max of six. A large kitchen and dining area. A decent sized 'commons' with a fireplace, four chairs, a love seat and couch. Nearly the whole 'live in' area was cushioned with plush red carpentry and red, gold trimmed drapes along the windows.

It was definitely a place meant for comfort. And as well as it was furbished, it was just as well taken care of, inside and out. The wood that crafted the ship was sturdy and deep brown in color and the only real color other then that was the crest marking on the boat's stern along with the name. Elegant script wrote the name "Leth`pe-Mibaro" in pale sea-green color and at the end a small crest fashioned from a barely colored aquamarine.

She was not really worried of someone attempting to break in. The crest made it that anyone who did not bare a key was promptly tossed off in a non-friendly fashion. When she first arrived she would find several passed out men on the docks from being thrust away, knocking them senseless. Now..most were wise to just kept their distance.

It was this ship that Dantra was seen coming and going from at all sorts of hours, normally groceries in her arms. But she atleast now had a reason to stock up so much. Along with her brother she had two new people staying with her. Friends. She still couldn't get over it! She had FRIENDS! Well..she thought they were friends. To Lisa it didn't matter what happened to Dantra but Dantra still cared for the blank state that was the woman. And Toby...well she didn't exactly know where she stood with him. She wondered if she was nothing more then means of shelter and safety to him. She would eventually find out...

This particular day she returned to her ship with purpose, several parcels carefully carried aboard. As she entered to the lower area that was the housing, she made her way to the commons. The items placed on the table she slowly sank into the couch, her hands resting on her battered torso. Lifting her gaze to the rafters above she couldn't help but think on days past. There was so much going on. So much she suddenly found herself intertwined in. She was not use to such excitement and she was kind of exhausted! But it was a welcomed change. Well almost all of it.

She had been asked to oversee some of the younger students at the magical school in Elestria earlier in the day. And don't you know it one of the boys fooling around decided to test a spell he had no business messing with. The explosion was massive and the mess had been horrible. Wounded and dead. And so much knowledge lost. Runes, books, the works had been obliterated. One of the Elders had time and time again told Dantra how lucky she was as she wobbled about in attempts to assist the clean up.

She had to admit..it was very lucky. If it had not been for her jewel and the protection barrier she would of been killed. And that is a scary thought. To know you were inches from death. Well more like a thin hair away from it.

Sighing she lowered her eyes, lifting the bottom half of her shirt up under her bustline. Her slender torso was all sorts of ugly colors from one end to another, as if some large beast had rammed into her at full speed. Sore and angry looking, the flesh was shaded blues, purples, blacks and reds. A heave of a sigh as her fingers danced across the surface.

It could of been far worst..

Nash waited until he was sure she was gone before he approached the houseboat. He looked the vessel over, thinking and remembering their encounter with amusement and enjoyment. He took the 'walking stick' he had been using, really a spear shaft with only a very rough sharpening on the end, not even enough to stab someone with and shoved it down into a knothole in the dock right by the gangplank.

Next he took a bag from his shoulder and tied it around the shaft, putting the loose loop created over the top of the shaft to hold it up and keep it from sliding down the smoothed wood. He was sure she would know who it was from but that didn't mean that he couldn't refrain from all mention of it. She had warned him about something that could easily affect his brother's life and he was grateful for the warning. A bag of holding was little enough in payment.

His eyes gleamed chaotically for a moment, shifting between blue and gray and every shade between without cohesion. He described an arch over the shaft and bag, casting two spells upon it. One would keep the elements off of it so that no rain or sea spray or anything of the sort would affect it. The second would keep any save Dantra herself from touching it and removing both shaft and bag. He wasn't about to let it get stolen or lost by someone else. He hoped she liked it. It wasn't very ornately decorated or anything but there was a little bit of pleasing embroidery upon it and it would match nearly anything that she could chose to wear.

A final look around to be sure he hadn't been noticed, then he strolled off as though he hadn't done a thing, whistling a light tune. Had he had a tail in his human form, he would have been flicking it merrily.

The sun was hanging low by the time she made way onto the docks, the salty air brushing her face and the creak of wood below her steps. As normal there was armfuls of books and a basket from the market filled to the brim with food. She still wasn't sure why she bothered stocking up so much. The boat house was once again empty, Lisa and Toby apparently having left. She wasn't surprised but it still stung a bit. Her only real friends just up and left without word and deep down inside she was stressed beyond compare.

Graceful steps slowed, slippers wisp touch silencing as she came to something unusual hanging before her home. At first there was mild worry that someone on the dockside had a twisted sense of humor and left a head dangling in a bag but after a bit of investigation she realized it was..a bag of holding. With no note? She was confused of it's reason for being there until something clicked. Looking skyward she chuckled to herself. Placing her books down on the dock she rose to gently remove the bag from the shaft of wood, fingers brushing the material. She knew who it was from. His scent was all over it. And he was the only person she ever spoke to about such a thing.

After yoinking the shaft from the dock and tucking it under arm before she took time to place book after book into the seeming never ending bag. Oh definitely big thank yous were going to be done but she was quite confused as to why he went through all the trouble. Maybe as some strange 'thank you' for 'saving' his brother. With new items in tow the seal was blinked off before she entered into her home, muling over this.

Earlier in the Day — Elestria's Magic School - Ward Room

The sound of shuffling filled her ears as Ren bustled about the room but it was easy to say that Danny's mind was elsewhere.

"Miss Delane" .........DANTRA!"

Bouncing slightly in her start and chin raised she 'looked' in the direction of Ren's voice. There was nothing but darkness really to be seen, her eyes bandaged over. Though the bandages barely showed from under the flow of long, flaxen hair. Hair unbound and current attire barely clinging to her form, Dantra looked worst for wear.

"Ah'm sorra..did ya say somethin' Ren?"

"I sure did! Girl if you don't focus you are going to get yourself killed!"

A sigh sounded at the scolding from the head healer of the magic school. "Forgive meh ah just.."

"Ahh..men troubles."

"Wh..wha?" Came a quick studder at Ren's sudden assessment. Though she wasn't far from the fact. "It's nae like dat! He's just a friend."

"Yeah yeah. Heard that before. So what happened?"

Hands clasped between her knees and head lowered, Dantra mumbled faintly. "Ah said some things ah shouldn't o'. Though still true ah shouldn't o' blurted them out like ah had."

A 'hmm' came from the darkness followed by Ren's ever high pitched laughter. "Dantra. Even though we barely know each other I think it's easy to say that you couldn't hurt a fly's feelings for very long. Though if you are really worried why not dress up pretty for him and cook him dinner."

Dantra's features tightened into a scold under the bandages. "Ah..said it's nae like dat! Besides..ah dunna have anythin' ta wear. Ah just got m'silks.."

"Yeah and those look like they are shot.."

Another sigh was heaved as she stood carefully from the edge of the bed. A wobble had her leaning back and for several seconds she just leaned there.

"You should take it easy, Dantra. Go home and rest."

"But the students. Ah dunna even know if dey-"

"Are alright. The explosion wasn't as big as the ringing in your ears leads you to think. Marcus will take over your class. You rest for a few days until your sight comes back. And try to relax!"

"Relax..yeah..Blessed be Ren.."

"Blessed be, Dantra."

Present — Leth`pe-Mibaro - Upper Deck

The breeze of the late night, salty air was a comfort and though she couldn't see the sky she just imagined how the stars glimmered from the sky and into the waters to create a ocean of stars. She had made a big mistake by allowing her emotions to get in the way while teaching her students. To allow herself to drift into thought of Julyan and the day's events. She could not help but feel as though she had stepped bounds she shouldn't of. And even though she feared of losing him, she still had no right.

Julyan. He created a beating in her heart she didn't know existed. And with nothing more then a mere touch. She thought at one time she was in love. But Julyan was something entirely different. Even when she was upset his presence seemed to ease her worries away...well that was until she opened her big mouth.

Head rolling forward she mumbled a curse onto herself, fingers combing and drawing her long flow of hair over a single shoulder. She would apologize when and if she saw him next. And perhaps explain as to why her words came as they had. How they came out in fear. The fear of losing him. Not the fear of losing someone that caused her heart to flutter. But more of losing another friend. She couldn't bear it. It seemed each time she made a friend they simply disappeared within days or weeks. And it tore at her very soul. To be alone nearly all the time with sparse arrivals of her older brother. To let yourself reach out to another only for them to disappear the next day. For all she knew Julyan would do the very same..and it was a pain she was trying hard to swallow. And the more she spent around him the more worried she became that he too would be swept away. And his talk of death surely didn't help with this worry! It only fed her dread to a higher plane of torment. Not that it was his fault. He simply didn't know. But even then..

And how would Donovan react to Julyan' "Urg.." Was growled out as she shook her head side to side violently, that wasn't something she was ready to worry about just yet. After a brief moment of doing so she turned and stalked across the deck. Half away across she shifted down into her lioness form, sleek tawny coat rippling as muscles moved in motion. This of course allowed the bandages to fall away from her temporarily blind eyes but at the time it didn't matter. She found a spot near the railing and curled up, tail tucked close to her body. It was there she would find some peace in slumber.

Donovan Delane

Date: 2009-05-16 02:16 EST
She was gone.

Stepping aboard the ship brought it all home so painfully once more. Dantra was gone. The two that they had always been together was now one. The Leth`pe-Mibaro had stood empty again for so long. The barriers had kept the place from being looted, surviving the young woman who had created them. He felt the brush of them as he stepped through and it brought tears to his eyes. That little bit of her survived here.

There was no food here but he wasn't hungry. The decorations all reminded him of her. Some of her things still remained here. A few books were placed here and there. Likely things she had been going to read before the rocking of the ship make her seasick with her pregnancy.

Donovan sat, nearly collapsed, onto the couch. His face fell into his hands and the tears that had been held back came, flowing from his eyes and down his cheeks.

He was alone. His sister, the only family he had left, was gone. Dead in childbearing. Illy said the child lived. That at least was one thing. One family member. One bit of his blood living aside from himself. Daniel. That is what the child was to be called at the naming ceremony when Donovan made it back to Elestria.

He almost didn't want to go back but everything was there now. Illy was there. Daniel. They were all there was for him and he wouldn't give up either for the world. He could only pray that Illy hadn't found someone else after his purported demise. He hadn't had the courage to ask. He couldn't stand the thought of learning of Dantra's death and losing Illy all in one blow. He needed time. Time to recover. To regain himself. Time to ....Just time.

Donovan drew his knees up against him and lay down on the couch. His tears continued to course down his features. She was gone. He didn't even know who he should tell here. The university, perhaps. She had known people there. Taught there. He didn't know whether he wished he could kill Julyan or not. He found himself unable to hate. Dantra's memory was too dear to him to cause him to hate. He couldn't even remember the names of her friend's that she had been staying with. He had only met them once and then only briefly.

Gods but he couldn't believe she was gone. It was all too sudden. He had been expecting anger at his lengthy absence. Teasing perhaps. A joyful reunion. Instead, he returned to nothing but sadness and grief and he could only blame himself. He was glad that Danny hadn't died alone but he should have been there for her. There should never have been rumors of his death and those of his mates aboard ship.

He would keep this place. He would make it his home. Leth`pe-Mibaro would not go to anyone else. It was on thing he had left that Dantra had loved. He got up and went to a desk and began digging through some papers there. Tears blurred his vision on seeing Dantra's handwriting. He almost couldn't bear to see it but he read it and worked through the night on seeing what he would have to do towards rent and supplies. There would be no sleep for him tonight. And possibly for many nights to come.

Dantra was gone. And Donny felt so very much alone.
