Sand Castles Sea and Life

"Let us go to where the ocean hits the shore The night is still a child." —Ahead to the Sea, Urban Pirate Soundsystem

Renne went to the shipyards.

He had no idea on a lot of things and knew certainty on so little. Still, he had to keep going; that was one things he knew. Keep going.

Even if he had to go it alone so often.

Names raced through his head. Names he loved and names he didn't dare even whisper in the darkest of places. Some were still with him, even if only in spirit — Spirit. Curious thought....He put that under Analysis for a brief time and correlated it with the life-forms here and their understanding of a "soul". A soul to them, was immortal and could...separate from the Solidity. It was a strange thought and something he knew he'd never fully understand. But, it was somehow comforting nonetheless. Hey, Mamela

Keep going.

The mantra whispered in his mind against the shadows he knew he'd always have. Perhaps always did have from the beginning; like every other life-form out there and its inclinations. He crawled carefully along the familiar docks and got as close to each ship as he dared to do. The sea reminded him of much. It was a thing that could save a man or drown him.

Keep going.

Sounds were consistent here — they often told him what to avoid or get closer to. As Renne crawled, he stopped to listen to a ship's bell clanging nearby. The smile on his face was genuine, if not a little strained. This flat face was something he had to get used to. For now at least. He listened to the sounds along the docks slowly fade as he progressed from the bustling places to the places people left behind. Deserted ships lay in unwanted harbours here. Renne knew the smell of wood gone bad and heard the groaning creak of ghost-ships. This was a place rife with its own dangers and the warning sounded in his head instantly. The forgotten lie here.

It was dead here.

Renne turned around. He didn't want to be near the dead places or their ghosts. The places like this beckoned his mind down darker roads and he fled those roads like he fled these abandoned places. Enough things had died. It was time to live.

No matter what it took, it was time to live.
