Let me walk a country roadway In a gentle month of Spring When the dogwood trees are blooming, And the birds are on the wing.

Let the coaxing breezes lure me Farther on to winding trails, Where the jasmine spills its beauty On a fence of weathered rails.

Where the lilacs by the wayside Sparkle with the morning dew, And anemones wear dainty Petaled frills of whitish hue.

Let me walk through rainbow meadows Where the gala blossoms sway To the symphonies of windsong In a lovely Spring ballet.

Let me seek shade-dappled pathways Where the honeysuckle twine, Where the squirrels play neath lace plum trees And earth's pulse is tuned with mine.

For there's nothing quite as thrilling, And can set my heart to sing, Than to follow Nature's footsteps In a gentle month of Spring.
