Around RhyDin: The Zen Gardens March 20, 2010

RhyDin, I am completely stunned. Actually, all of us here at the Post Gossip Column are. We have to ask" Since when has West End been popular" We were under the impression that West End was nestled in a dark and dreary part of RhyDin reserved for the lairs of mad scientists and goblins and such. You know" that part of RhyDin that you tend to avoid after five in the evening because you likely won't walk out of it in one piece if you don't. Did the planet's rotation change or something" Because we swear we can see a little bit of sun shining into that cubbyhole of a district. I personally don't know how it's possible, but West End seems to be thriving lately! Is this some drastic change of events" Is West End going to be the new New Haven" Are nuclear families going to be flocking hence, knocking down the grimy maze of alleyways, and putting up a suburban cul-de-sac" Are they' Honestly, we hope not. West End is notoriously news worthy. Gods forbid it becomes just as boring as other parts of this town are slowly becoming.

Before you start, I know what you're going to say. But Emmet, you charmingly desirable fellow! Settlement is good! It means our economy is doing well, and the city is expanding! Yes, RhyDin, I know! That is why I'm so excited to do a little light-shedding of my own onto West End's newest inhabitants: The residents and business-owners of the Zen Gardens! And yes, yes, I know what else you want to tell me! Emmet, you poor sod! Property review isn't gossip! What are you doing" Well bite your tongue, RhyDin! You better believe this is about gossip, because the Gardens have been the talk of the town lately, and we are seriously considering adding it to our Places You MUST See in RhyDin list!

How they managed to squeeze a little slice of Asian paradise into an' interesting district like West End is completely mind-blowing. The Zen building seems to have gone up almost overnight (or maybe none of us were just paying close enough attention. Anything can happen!), and has transformed an otherwise dull piece of property into a three-stories-tall business hotspot.

For those artsy, limber little ladies (or lads; Whatever floats your boat!) among you, the Black Cat Yoga & Dance Studios on the first floor offers fantastic classes for all levels, in just about anything contemporary from ballroom to ballet. The yoga classes have also gotten rave reviews, namely an Ashtanga class taught by none other than the ever-popular Riley O"Rourke in a rooftop garden after dawn. So far away from the hustle and bustle of the RhyDin Marketplace, it actually sounds pretty relaxing. Sign us up!

Yoga isn't the only relaxing thing Zen has to offer. A ridiculously charming bookshop called Tranquility just opened up thereabouts, and we have to say, it has the pleasing look and feel of a late nineteenth or early twentieth century Terran tea parlor. Owner Mindy McKnight keeps the premises neat and clean, having obviously taken painstaking effort in decorating the nook more for comfort and aesthetics than utility. That suits us just fine, though. No doubt the colorful atmosphere keeps her customers happy, and happy customers always encourages repeat business!

Last, but certainly not least, you'll find none other than one of RhyDin's Hottest New Women to Watch Fiora Shantalaine in a jazzy realtor's office on the first floor that somehow still miraculously feeds into the whole zen theme, despite the constant influx of visitors she seems to have! We haven't heard much about how her business is actually doing, but we have caught wind of an awful large group of clientele of hers that seems to be growing on a regular basis. Apparently, this ravishing realtor is doing something right! You think she can hook me up with a bigger office"

We honestly don't know what they're putting in the water over there in West End, RhyDin, but whatever it is, it seems to be doing its residents some good! Feeling stressed" Need to work out a little tension' Want a book on herbal remedies, but don't want to brave the chaotic Marketplace" Take a step onto the Zen Gardens property and embrace the calm, folks. The residents and businesses there certainly make it worth visiting.
