Chaos, Conflict Erupts in RhyDin October 16, 2010

DOCKSIDE, RHYDIN —- The quiet serenity of Dockside shipping and export piers was disrupted Thursday night as a series of fires and explosions racked the city's waterfront and took the lives of over thirty readily-identifiable RhyDin citizens. Bodies and injured are still being recovered.

According to witnesses, a squad of around two hundred troops from an unknown invasion force was seen overwhelming the western perimeter of Dockside territory by midnight. In less than a half hour, several warehouses and docked ships were reportedly in flames. Experts believe the later explosions were likely sparked by stored combustible supplies.

"Once I saw the fires, I knew it was only a matter of time before the quaking started," Mike O'Leary, a grounded sailor, said. "Them ships carry a lot of gunpowder and such, and there was really no way to escape the fires that were set. It was like the water itself was aflame."

Uninjured employees and eyewitnesses claim that the ship fires appeared to have been started by an undocked derelict sloop bearing no obvious colors. Dockside's Harbor Master and a group of dockside workers were the first to respond to the incident.

"These weren't no normal fires," the Harbor Master told the Post late Friday morning. "Ships don' just burn like that on the water."

This incident is only one of several that has been connected to an unconfirmed insurgency attempt, and possibly linked to an attack on the Marketplace orchestrated not hours after the first explosions began in Dockside. The latter attack is said to have been organized by unverified vessels in orbit above RhyDin, though this claim is currently unsubstantiated. Opposition and obvious motive are still inconsistent, and there is no word yet on whether these attacks will impact RhyDin's trade routes in any way.
