Magical Delights: A Review October 15, 2010

If one man's magic is another man's engineering, then what does that make RhyDin" Are we all a bunch of scientists and sorcerers" Is it absolutely necessary to be put into one category or another" Should you be required to choose between skepticism and faith"

Thanks to Ander Northlander's new shop, Magical Delights, opening in the Marketplace, you won't have to.

According to Northlander, he and his wife Veronica combined efforts to set up shop in the south side of Marketplace square in an effort to cater to those ready to be mystified, yet reluctant to engage in what can otherwise be rather intimidating magical arts.

"Our merchandise seems magical, but it's technological," explained Northlander. " smithing of energy crystals combined with Veronica's knowledge of Mecha and Tech mechanics."

Indeed, it was Northlander's "chosen one," he claims, that gave him the idea for the business. It is no wonder that the previous glamorous premises (once the location of the jewel shop, Shimmer) extend some - if not all - of their brilliance into the colorful new establishment, lending less an impression of technological grandeur and more one similar to RhyDin's famous Crystal and Geode Museum.

"All of merchandise is made of nearly unbreakable energy crystals from my birth world of NuTerra," said Northlander. "It is mostly figurines, jewelry, and musical instruments....Most are self-illuminated in some way, move, and play music or have a natural sound."

Music and natural sounds indeed; hardly two steps into the shop one is greeted with the tinkering of a crystal dragonfly buzzing in its jar or the soft chime of an iridescent butterfly mobile as it dangles above from the ceiling.

When George Eliot said that gems have life in them - that their colors speak and say what words fail of - he probably didn't mean it quite this literally.

Still, whether you are a skeptic or not, there most definitely is a mystical atmosphere within Magical Delights.

" that something extra; the wow factor that normally only magic can give. "Our customers can have a hands-on experience, see what each piece can do, even if they can't do magic" Crystal statues seem come to life at their touch, they can make instruments play by themselves."

The lesson here? Even if sorcery is not your forte, this shouldn't stop you from owning or engaging in something magical.

"Come in and experience for yourself crystal wares as never before," adds Northlander. " move, but hear , and even smell !"

Magical Delights is currently open during daylight hours, and takes special orders.
