An elusive serial killer, linked to eighteen slayings in North RhyDin and Dockside over several months, resurfaced late this month to kill again, Watch officials said.

Lack of evidence and often a dormant, disjointed investigation has in the past left the Watch unsure of whether the string of murders was committed by a single person. However, letters left by the killer himself has led authorities to believe that one man is primarily responsible for the homicides. Still, according to the Watch commissioner, the number of suspects considered to be said "Masked Man' remains staggeringly high.

"We are sure of one thing," the commissioner said in a press conference Saturday, "and that is that one individual or small group is behind these murders. They all have the same M.O., and that is some perverted attempt at gruesome art."

Very little relationship has been uncovered between the suspect or suspects" targets, but according to authorities, the mass murderer has been leaving notes at the scene that provides some insight as to motive.

"They are pretending they are on some kind of mission from God," Quenton Leioni, Watch officer, said. "As though they get to decide who does or does not deserve to die. It sickens me. No mortal being has that right."

"We cannot be so arrogant as to say that everything this murderer has done has come out with a Watch report on it," the commissioner said in an interview Friday. "Therefore we are asking the citizens of RhyDin for their help. If you know anything about this string of crimes, please come forward immediately."

Those RhyDin citizens seem to be hovering somewhere between awe and absolute terror.

"Yeah it frightens me what he's doing," Anna Doleson, mother of two, said. "They are hideous crimes, but' I knew Eddison. I and my friends knew he was a bad, cruel-hearted man. I'm certainly not losing any sleep over his death."

"A mortal has no right to put a value on a life," Harold Weiss, local business owner, said. "No life is worth more than another. And this "Masked Man' is not some angel sent from heaven to cleanse our world of sin. He is a self-righteous, murdering psychopath. That is all there is to it."

Around the same time the Watch prounced disclosure of a new victim, the Post received a letter, arguably from the Masked Man himself. While we immediately turned it over to authorities, we have decided to risk our lives to bring you a copy of this publication.

Dear Citizens of Rhy"Din, It has been some time since we last wrote you. We are sorry if you feel dejected. We have been spending much time deliberating our next course of action. It brings us great joy to help again, to cleanse the city of filth and evil and of vile inhabitants like these two. We will not divulge the names of the man and woman that we punished. They are less than human. They are monsters and monsters do not deserve names. We are saddened by what we've seen. You, good people, have yet to heed our advice. There are evil people in this world who would see you dead because of your differences. Elves would be put to death for their tapered years and arcane nature; dwarves for their stoutness and constitution; orcs for their skin, teeth, and noses and so on and so forth. Rhy"Din is filled with the vile prejudice of evil men and women. The Watch has miles of red tape that prevent them from punishing these wicked individuals who despise those who are so unlike themselves. We are here to do what the Watch cannot, even though the Watch will hunt us. We wish the Watch to leave us be, to let us do our work in peace. If you are not going to help us, do us the courtesy of not hindering us either. This is our one and only warning to the Watch, to the fine men and women who do their best to keep the city safe. We do not wish to take their lives; we do not wish to remove them from their duties. But we will do what we must. Members of the Watch, stop or we will stop you. Citizens of Rhy"Din; we implore you to listen, to take up arms against those who would kill you for being individuals! For being different! Do not sit idly by and wait for death.

We will leave you on that note. As always" We are watching. We are waiting. And we are ever vigilant. ~ The Masked Man

Anyone with any information about the suspect is urged to contact the Watch immediately, before he strikes again.
