Mass Murder in West End: RhyDin's latest threat paints a psychopathic marine masterpiece for passers by February 16, 2010

Kretschmer's theory on man's lack of conscience was right:

"The psychopaths are always around. In calm times we study them, but in times of upheaval, they rule over us."

With the tumultuous pathogenic ravaging of Dockside, the sluggardly rebuild of the Sanyumato-blighted territory in downtown RhyDin, and the unease that has accompanied suspicious fires on the city's outskirts, it would seem that citizens had undergone as much as physically and emotionally possible.

Perhaps there is something to be said for the breadth of human - or mortal - forbearance.

Early this morning, twenty-four bodies were discovered in and around West End Harbor. According to authorities, the victims all seem to have a common career, and were all present at the same location when the crimes were committed. Several of the victims were reported to have been hung by the neck from masts on two docked galley ships, while others show knife wounds, signs of impalement, and even evisceration.

"Every last one of the murders was deliberate," Michael O"Malley, Watch lieutenant, said. "The most gruesome involved seven men, aged twenty-five to forty, who had their throats cut and tongues pulled through the wounds. I don't even know what the killer was trying to do' I don't want to know."

According to the commissioner, three Watch members on duty that night lay among the dead.

"While we cannot release their names until their families have been notified," the commissioner said in a press conference at Hanzen, "I will say this: These three men gave their lives trying to protect citizens of RhyDin. They are heroes."

Added the commissioner later: "And to whoever committed these horrendous acts of homicide, may God have mercy on your souls."

Statements issued by the Watch indicate that the pattern of murders is unlike any they currently have on file, and have begun conducting a new investigation based on evidence retrieved at the scene.

Meanwhile, citizens of West End are urged to avoid the harbor until the investigation is closed.

In related news, the census bureau has indicated a sharp decline in West End due to relocation.

In times of upheaval, psychopaths rule.

Here is to hoping that rule is not absolute.
