New Information Sought in Dockside Case August 18, 2013

DOCKSIDE, R.D. —- Watch officers of Precinct 19 issued a statement to the RhyDin public today requesting anyone with any information surrounding the deaths of two local sailors to please come forward as soon as possible.

On August 16th, at approximately 9:00 A.M., a privately owned fishing vessel by the name of The Sea Nymph was discovered unmanned and several meters southeast of RhyDin docks. Investigation of the vessel by local fishermen revealed the remains of two bodies, both of which initially appear to have been victims of drowning.

The victims, now identified as Richard Dawkins and Sam Harper, were the only known members of the vessel's crew. According to witnesses, Dawkins, 62, had gone missing several days previously in what appeared to be a tragic fishing accident. Harper, 41, was seen in a tavern the night before his body was discovered, leading police members to suspect suicide as the primary cause of death. However, the statement issued by Precinct 19 has revealed new details on the case.

"While we cannot speculate as to the exact cause behind it, if I didn't know any better I would say Dawkins" body was" chewed on," Paul Miller, Watch lieutenant told the Post in an interview this morning. "We have only just now released the details about the state of the body, because initially we had suspected this physical trauma had been inflicted post-mortem. But now, according to our Medical Examiner's report, it may very well be likely these injuries were sustained when Mr. Dawkins was still alive."

"All of this is still speculation, of course," Miller added.

No cargo from the ship was reported missing, and the vessel itself was mostly intact with the exception of damage sustained when it grounded.

The circumstances of Harper's death are still under investigation.

Those with information related to the case are urged to contact officers at Watch Precinct 19 immediately.
