There are all kinds of tragedies in RhyDin. You don't need to look very far to find someone hurt, dying, being kidnapped or murdered daily. I believe those are not RhyDin's only tragedies. Another kind of tragedy is the youth of RhyDin, running around at all hours of the night unsupervised, drinking in the taverns, engaging in risky sexual encounters and even being charged for murder. Having encountered a couple of these wayward children, it's been clear that they lack the mental maturity to make appropriate choices about their lives, such as the ability to engage in age-appropriate behavior. Where are these children's parents"

RhyDin does not have truant officers or even a good network of social workers to help these clearly misguided youths find their way back to the righteous path and become good, upstanding members of society.

Most of these wild youth become unwed mothers or fathers, with a passel of children who will grow up to emulate that parent and wind up in the same situation as they did. Others will die at a young age, due to violence or other misfortune.

Some responsible parents thankfully are not allowing such unruly behavior. Recently, the rebellious dragon hatchling known as Icesong was put back into an egg. Many applauded Mother Icer's decision and sympathised that while it was a hard choice to make, it was the right one. Icesong had been running roughshod over her parents for weeks, acting more like a over hormonally charged teenager than the very young hatchling she actually was. Acquaintances testify that she'd been seen sneaking alcohol, cigarettes, even ogling half naked men. It was too much for Mother Icer to take and she finally reached her limit when even concerned friends couldn't rein in the wild child.

Sadly, there are the opposite to parents like Mother Icer out there. Those that don't seem to have clue one about the irresponsible way their child behaves because they themselves do not have the proper responsible behavior skill set needed to guide their children. It appears these parents don't seem or even care to question where they went horribly wrong that their child is so far off the path.

In the case of the Lupe family, you need only point to the constant drama that seems to surround them. Bystanders allege that the young girl, Myrlene, was rapidly aged from an infant, and most of her parenting came not from her biological parents but from those responsible adults that tried to help out when the young girl would appear alone night after night in both the Red Dragon Inn and the dueling arenas.

According to neighbors to the Lupinossi Den, Myrlene's parents, Ammy and Fleet, often seemed too embroiled in their own lives to notice that their daughter was starting to pick up the bad habits of other wild children in the taverns (such as Icesong), as well as a few questionable adults that came into the establishment, while Myrlene repeatedly hung out there alone, late at night, and without proper parental supervision. Acquaintances testify that she was often heard asking the more upstanding ladies in the community that inhabited the bar questions, that frankly a daughter should only ask of her mother. Despite such attempts to help guide the Lupe's behavior into proper lines by those not biologically connected to the girl, because of what seems to be lack of true parental guidance to help reinforce these lessons, witnesses claim that she repeatedly engaged in habits like drinking and dating men much older than the artificially aged teenager.

While the laws of their den may not frown upon this sort of behavior, it often happens outside of the Lupinossi Den, and in full view of others who still believe that sixteen is far too young for a child to be attempting to act like an adult. Especially a child like Myrlene who was aged so rapidly that she lacks the proper social and mental skills to handle such responsibilities.

Recently charged with murder, we wonder if this potential tragedy couldn't have been avoided if Myrlene's parents had their priorities in order, and taken more of an interest in family matters over the alleged politics of the den.

This is not the only tragedy to befall the misguided teen. Sources claim she was/is blind, reportedly due to irresponsible behaviors on her part. Myrlene is allegedly engaged to a thirty year old dragon-man at the present time. This misguided teen has started and quit many jobs and boyfriends. Friends argue that she can't seem to socialize with a group of people without dragging the theme of the conversation into either blatantly sexual topics or about the current mess that the Lupe family has found their way into.

Is there any easy answer to parenting" No. Of course there isn't. Parents today have to struggle with the same issues as our own parents did. How to keep us from going down the wrong road. Some parents not only have better skills than others at parenting, they are not afraid to get involved and discipline their children when it is clearly necessary.
