Search Underway for Suspects in Double Homicide January 26, 2011

WEST END, RHYDIN —- Authorities are going door-to-door in West End in an effort to discover the identity of a suspect or suspects responsible for the murder of two RhyDin bodyguards that occurred January the 21st.

A RhyDin Watch spokesperson said the men were found approximately six blocks away from each other, on the eleventh blocks of Lowry Street and 23rd Street respectively. While no motive for the murders was immediately released, detectives for the RhyDin Watch are claiming that the two crimes are connected.

The Watch identified the victims as Kent Jones, 31, and Lain Mitchell, 36. Both men were employed by Pattersons' Protection - a company that specializes in executive protection services and the charter of both low and high-risk security teams. Watch constable Daniel Moore said the two were found with badges, wallets, weapons, and cellular phones still on their person.

Authorities said the victims were killed by one or more suspects and within fifteen minutes of each other by strangulation and throat cutting, respectively. No prints or verifiable evidence were found on the weapon left at the scene.

The two men were believed to have been murdered between the hours of five and nine P.M. Friday night. According to Mitchell's family, his shift was to last only three more hours.

Dispatchers at the Fifteenth Precinct said authorities have been going door-to-door talking to nearby residents, trying to locate who could possibly be a key witness in the case.

"I am afraid I cannot release his personal information," Constable Moore told the RhyDin Post Monday. "But I can tell you we are scouring the victims' and connected phone records in hopes of locating who we hope is a witness."

Anyone with any information on either the suspects or possible witnesses should contact the RhyDin Watch immediately.
