Sheridan Driscol Elected Governor April 27, 2010

Sheridan Driscol, ten year resident of RhyDin and local luthier made history today by being the first elected governor in both a same-sex and inter-species relationship.

Driscol was renowned for his "Remember Your Roots" campaign that supposedly earned him an empathetic, neighborly position among RhyDin's middle class.

Votes reportedly trickled in as late as an hour before the election deadline at midnight. According to election officials, the vote was very close, prompting talks of a possible recount.

"We've done our best to ensure that this election was fair and honest," an election official said. "As long as a public outcry isn't heard, we don't think a recount will be necessary."

Opinions on the street are mixed regarding the results and final tally.

"Winner's fine, in my opinion. Doesn't much bother me," Silver Starblade, local ship captain, said. " I knew who two runners were and I stopped by the debate for all of five minutes. That's my extent of politics."

"Is he going to offer free beer and jello wrestling once a month?" argued Dean Springsteen, self-employed. "I think free beer and jello wrestling would be awesome. He has the power. He should put it to good use. Like, you know, Arnold."

"Canne say I've ever really met him," Montgomery Scott, head of maintenance at Riverview Clinic, said. "So I'm nae sure wha t'think. I dinne really want t'say anythin bad about someone I dinne ken....so, ah, I'm sure he'll do a good job."

Others are not quite so enthusiastic regarding the election's outcome.

"I voted for Matt Simon, of course," Duci Lovasz, local assistant, said. "I'm disappointed, because Matt really takes the duty seriously. I love Dris, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure he's going to take it as seriously as he should. I'm sure was fair, but I do believe the public may have been misled by the things candidates were offering. That or else they just aren't well informed on the ongoings of RhyDin and who is actually involved in keeping things running."

According to some, Driscol's opponents" efforts went unseen by voters.

"The Watch, to begin with," continued Lovasz. "I always see Matt in the papers with updates about it. Like they opened a new station the other day. Did anyone take that into consideration' What about the space port' Who has been keeping tabs on that' None of the candidates, as far as I'm aware of. Matt has completely immersed himself in this town, not just in the programs to protect it and help run it, but also in activities, like duels for instance."

Added Lovasz: "It's not fair."

Overall, however, the good sportsmanlike sentiment thrived on RhyDin's streets.

"I hope the winner helps the city out a little more," claims Icer Shimmerscale. "And I do believe was fair.?

No word yet on the possible recount, but we will keep you informed.
