Shooting in Arena Leaves Man Dead April 19, 2010

The RhyDin Watch is investigating a shooting that left a man dead late Saturday evening in the RhyDin Arena.

Authorities said this morning that a man who has not yet been identified was murdered in the Duel of Swords Arena, known to be heavily populated by armed competitors on Saturday nights, around one o"clock a.m. Sunday morning, April the 17. According to sources, the victim allegedly open-fired on the Arena's inhabitants, causing a massive backlash of self-defense by the occupants.

"It was bloody," claims a witness. "He pulled out a fancy gun and suddenly started firing at Tara. Then everybody fought back and put him in his place."

Harris D"Artainian, an eyewitness for the event, had as much to say regarding the suspect's motives:

"Well, according to what I gathered the shooter was after Tara for giving him crabs and a host of other crotch related diseases that ruined his ability to procreate."

"I'm certain it was just a random act of violence," Corlanthis Wystansayr, eyewitness and local restaurant-owner, said. "Tara is certainly a polarizing person."

The alleged target of the crime could not be reached for comment, but authorities are hesitant to peg the crime as an assassination attempt without further evidence.

"There were too many bullets flying," claims a witness who asked not to be identified. "I don't think anyone could tell who he was firing at. One thing is for sure, though. He won't be firing a gun ever again!"

The assailant was pronounced dead at the scene, all his injuries apparently consistent with stories provided to authorities by bystanders.

"From where I stand, this looks like a clear-cut case of self-defense," the commissioner had to say at a press conference early this morning. "What bothers me now is why these crimes are happening. Two shootings in two weeks is two too many. The public must understand, though, that we are doing everything in our power to investigate these crimes."

Lang Darkwing, an eyewitness for the shooting that occurred in the Red Dragon Inn on April 10, seemed convinced that this sort of thing wasn't entirely out of the ordinary.

"For the motive to the shooting I was involved in," claims Darkwing, "It seems Alain was the main target. I merely stepped in due to the fact I consider him a friend. As for the other shooting. This is the first I've heard about it. Though in this town, it's not a surprise....Always someone trying to kill another person."

Apparently, Darkwing is not the only one who is unamused by the spike in violence around RhyDin.

"Aye, stop doing that crap," commented Teagan Rielea, eyewitness to the crime and former Overlady. "Joey and I were having a nice night and we had to leave."

Added Rielea: "Oh. And tell Darien he is a !@#$.?

Further details were not immediately available, pending an investigation.
