Skirmish Breaks Out at Public Works November 13, 2010

R.D., RHYDIN —- Tempers flared in the Southwest corner of RhyDin proper on Friday after a skirmish between invasion forces, patrol units and employees on duty within the Public Works premises left around fifty citizens and more civilians dead.

Details were unclear, but the incident apparently was set off when a few dozen hostile units open fired on the Public Works building as part of a presumed incursion tactic. Most immediately responsive to the attack was the Ministry of Citizen Resources, which promptly took action by conscripting several hundred employees in both the Solid Waste and Public Works departments to account for a massive dent put in resisting forces.

"I saw the whole thing," said Nicolas Carter, employee of the Cantath Cantak Lumber Mill, which is located less than a block away from the Public Works building. "They just kept coming, with their guns and their bombs. Completely mowed down every Watch member in the place in about ten seconds flat. I've never seen anything like it."

Reinforcements were also introduced to make up for combative losses, and to assist in treatment of the wounded.

"These are the Urashima Clan," explained Minister Brian Ravenlock of an elite unit of armed priests summoned to the heart of the skirmish. "They have a temple within the Northern RhyDin Forest' are of the Shinto religion, and tend to keep to themselves. They offered their services to this city long ago, and once more have done so, and we are fortunate to have them. We also have the sisters of Marfa's Abbey, who are tending to wounded and feeding the gathered. There also the Paladins from the Order of Delphyne, who have decided to lend their hand as well. We will not turn away any help, and more so will not turn away those in need. We will do all we can, so long as we can do so."

With civilian casualties numbering upwards in the hundreds, the resisting squad promptly issued a general evacuation notice for the entire residential and commercial area.

"We are working on evacuations out of the city' are setting up meet points throughout the city to assist citizens!" Commander McDowell, principal supervisor for the relief effort told the RhyDin Post early Friday evening. "We are setting up at the Sanctuary of Zit'tah, the old Scathachian Temple, the new Scathachian Temple in North RhyDin, and will get the people out. We are also working on barges along the river too. We ask all citizens use to caution and order, and most of all to stay safe!"

So far the only recovery units that have been called in have been ordered to help clear debris to permit access to emergency medical services. And though local healthcare facilities are struggling to prioritize treatment and reroute incoming trauma, civilians without professional training are encouraged to relocate for the time being.

The Minister of Citizen Resources had only the following comment to offer to the citizens of RhyDin: "Do not lose hope. Do not give in!"
