Hello, my lovelies! Sorry for the dearth of society articles lately, but frankly, Christmas is just not Christmas unless one spends it in New York City, and that is where my family and I have been. But a new year means lots of new gatherings of which you must simply be apprised, so I have returned from the City That Never Sleeps to the City That's Afraid to Sleep and I shall shirk my duties no more! So, without further ado - Your Social Forecast!

It seems that the theatre scene in Rhy'Din is shaping up to be a wonderful one this year. We were treated to a glut of wonderful performances that ran during December - the Black Cat Ballet's Nutcracker, which put them on the map as a serious competitor for the Rhy'Din Ballet; the Shanachie's Christmastime pantomime, Cinderella, featuring beautiful women who are really men, and beautiful women who are really women; and of course, A Christmas Carol production by the Rhy'Din Ballet.

January looks to be filled with drama and music as well. The Shanachie Repertory Company will be performing Samuel Beckett's absurdist play, Waiting for Godot. There's rumors abounding that Jonathon Granger will be starring in this production, and I for one am looking forward to Mr. Granger's return to the small stage. Rounding out January's offerings is a favorite comic opera The Pirates of Penzance, by Gilbert and Sullivan, produced by the Shanachie Theatre Compay.

Darien Fenner and Colleen MacLeod were married in a private New Year's Eve ceremony. The impromptu wedding, which took place during holiday festivities in Arcadia, was officiated by Lady Aja Bird.

Mr. Fenner, a native of Melbourne, Australia, is employed as journalist by The Rhydin Post.

The bride, who was born in Dublin, Ireland, is the owner of Navarra Farms.

(By the way, I believe Paige won the pool. Guess we'd better pay up, guys. Damn it.)

That's all you need to know to have a warm, wonderful, culture-filled January, Rhy'Din. Thanks for checking out the column and as always, if you have any questions or comments, or up-coming events you'd like to see mentioned here, drop me a line!

Until next time, this is Annie Mitchell with your Social Forecast!
