Unidentified Blast Prompts Radiation Scare September 26, 2011

RHYDIN, R.D. —- City sanitation officials and members of the RhyDin Watch both issued statements of reassurance today regarding an explosion that occurred in the northern alley outside the Red Dragon Inn on Saturday, September twenty-fourth.

In a press conference this morning, both the commissioner and chief health inspector assured the public that, despite rumors of residual fallout from what appeared to be a nuclear shockwave in the vicinity, evidently no biomedical threat exists for the surrounding residents.

"The concussion felt may have been a little jarring, but we assure you as of right now there are no threats to your health, and the Red Dragon Inn is in perfect condition," the commissioner said.

The localized blast reportedly happened during the course of an altercation between several RhyDin residents, and according to witnesses, the concussion could be heard from over two blocks away.

"I heard this huge explosion," Ruth Riley, 89, said. "And then minutes later my husband started rambling about plantain launching penguins. It weren't no coincidence. Them radiations'll getcha if you let "em catch you."

Added Riley: "And you can tell those young people that explodin" each other's not nice."

The radiation scare began when it was confirmed that one of the citizens involved in the fight, Dr. Raye Ibaraki, was transported to Admiral Wolvinator's advanced medical facilities to be treated for radiation poisoning. However, in a phone interview earlier today Ibaraki informed the Post that she is doing just fine, and scan of the area has indicated that there is no residual amount of radiation remaining.

"This could be attributed to the advanced technology that some of the defenders appeared to possess," Ibaraki said.

Reports have also reached the Post that GAC Councilmember Race was present and was a casualty of the incident. Sources there confirm Race, 25, may have been caught in the blast.

CEO of Cantath-Cantak Industries, a resident company that exports textiles and wood products such as furniture and lumber, Race initially made his way into politics during Sheridan Driscol's campaign last year. As deputy to Minister Starblade, Race's background in commerce and his rapport with neighboring businesses led him to be a vital asset to the team. Called "oddly confident' and "a clever businessman' by his fellow councilmembers, Race's valuable experience in politics made him just as essential when he was appointed to the Governor's Advisory Council earlier this year.

"I find that men who act like usually have a reason behind it," Isuelt DeRomiano told the Post.

There is no word yet on whether a memorial is planned, as an investigation is still underway.

The Governor's office could not be reached for comment.
