The gates to Something Wild were open but on a rainy day like this Anu doubted the petting zoo would be getting many visitors at all. The property was a good sized one, which she had sectioned off into pens and shelters with well lit pathways and picnic areas between them. There were almost a dozen different species living in those pens. The largest enclosure was for the giraffes.

There were five of them in the heard all together. A big male named Gethii, and his mate Akinyi were the parents of the other three. Four year old Njeri was the tallest at eight and a half feet, Two year old Binya was right on eight feet, and the baby of the heard was Toma, six feet tall he was an even match in height with Anu, and easily her favorite of the lot.

The animals were for the most part hiding out in their shelters, as she went moving from pen to pen checking on their health. She was worried how the cold rain would affect them. It was usually warm even in the long rainy seasons back home. But they all seemed to be weathering it well, especially Toma. He was blissfully splashing from puddle to puddle much to the annoyance of his mother and sisters. Anu grinned and slipped away to the house on the back of the property.

The house was not overly large, two stories and an attic, with a wide front porch and an animal enclosure built onto the front. This is where Chaia and Mina the snow leopard cubs she had adopted spent most of their days. And this is where Sai was.
