She gripped the staff she always carried tightly. "Well....I noticed there was a really...*bad* smell in the inn. I didn't think too much of it, but then a girl invited me to sit with her, in some of the booths I think." Nodding. "I went over and noticed the smell got worse, this girl assured me it was just a drunk friend of hers that passed out." She shrugged. "I also smelled alcohol, so I thought maybe she was telling the truth."
She heard her cousin sigh, but simply furrowed her brows and continued. "It was at this point that some..man spoke up, who was also sitting with her. He said that...." She paused. "What I really smelled was a dead man, and that he had his throat ripped out by the girl who had invited me over."
"So," The man interrupted. "You didn't actually *see* a murder take place?"
"Ah....well sir, I don't actually *see* anything."
"Oh...oh yes." He cleared his throat. "Continue then."
She gave a nod. "Well, I was starting to get scared at this point. But I didn't want to panic. I tried acting calm and I tried to get away, but the girl who invited me over came close to me and I couldn't back away anymore. She asked me if I wanted to know the real reason she invited me over, and I said I did."
"Oh Lydia..." Katarina was not happy.
She widened her blind eyes. "And then...She gets really close to me....uncomfortably close, and says 'I'm hungry'." She nodded excitedly. "See, Tasha told me about them, the vampires" That's what she was. And she was going to kill me!"
Silence.
"At this point I just...I ran away. I got Katarina, and I came straight here to report the crime."
"So. What you're telling me is this. That some girl killed a man. But you didn't..witness this. And then she invited you over and wanted to kill you to' Because she said 'I'm hungry'?"
Lydia gave a solemn nod. "Yes..and this girl wasn't alone. There was that man..and another girl, though she was quiet."
He laughed.
