Rider and dragon sat atop that same mountain summit, they had been hunting quite a ways west of here, over the ocean, rumors of blue dragons attacking merchant ships had spread and those rumors were true. No more they both thought, Draconus could feel Meridus' grip slipping on his mane, a slight shake of his massive body awoke the man. "Perhaps you should get some rest Meridus.....even dragons need rest...and you are but a mere man..." "I know....I will get some today old friend....I...I simply want to watch the sunrise. It has been so long since last I watched a sunrise....."

The dragon stayed silent as they both watched the large firey orb arise in the east. Meridus ad a smile on his face, the beautiful aray of colors splashed into the clouds and sky. Sighing he shook his head and patted Draconus' side, the dragon could feel the man was losing heart for this life, for the constant drum of killing nightly. "Get some rest Meridus....I will handle our hunting this eve alone.....you just....find yourself."

Meridus chuckled at how well the dragon knew him, shaking his head he smiled. "Yes mother hen....I will get some rest....and tell me what our duties are before you do them yourself......but drop me at the Red Dragon....I will see about getting a room there ok?" Off they went, rider dozing off atop the dragon for the thirty or so minute flight to the Inn, indeed this life was a wearing one.
