"B-but....But. I signed for your boon! You're supposed to grant my wish!"

The unmistakable sound of a fool robbing precious elements from the air around him came echoing in rancid sobs down the dingy dark of a lonely gangway amidst some of the more ruinous structures of the city. Not a single lamp nor man made light post lit the grimy bricks, yet the source of the sobs and piteous lament was bathed in a brilliant glow.

"Perhaps you do not recall the exact wording of your wish, mortal, but I did in fact grant the words of your wish. As the contract reads and as I breathe, so shall it be." The source of the cool, tight voice belonged to the same source as the light did. It, she, was somewhere between short and tall, red and volcanic as an active lava fountain's base rock. Carved into that violently colored skin were markings that glowed, matching the eyes that studded her handsomely feminine face. All of these features did not explain the abysmal glow, but the igneous mane that coiled behind her did.

The man cowering before the volatile creature's feet was either too panicked to be intimidated, or had somehow engulfed his pitiful self deeply enough into her presence. Either way, his lips continued to tremble with unspoken pleas.

"No....No, no, no! I asked to be rich beyond my wildest dreams! You-" His words were cut off by a sharp hiss followed by a beastly laugh.

"I granted you what you asked for. You are rich beyond your wildest dreams....And just as wealth breeds contempt, wealth does not appear from thin air. The world is a place of give and take, and what was given to you had to be taken from elsewhere." The man's eyes widened with each passing syllable that dripped from the creature's lips, yet for all the horror of them he couldn't bring himself to look away. She was a monster, a fiend beyond measure, and in that atrociousness there was a beauty to behold. A terrible one.

"I didn't ask for this....I don't want to die! Please....Iblis. You are a genie! You're supposed to help me!" His mutterings grew more panicked as he watched Iblis' eyes flare to a new level of brightness. She was displeased, very displeased. Displeased beyond placation.

"This conversation is done, the contract has been abided by. Your pathetic existence is of no consequence to me! Dispute the terms any further and you may find I will be the last helping hand you'll ever seek alms from." Though the tone in her voice was darker than dark, the man's eyes lit up, and he inched closer to Iblis, his hands outstretched and trembling.

"Oh please....Iblis please. Help, help me! You can't leave me like this! I have nothing else!" The man whined, his eyes imploring the 'genie'.

She had said the conversation was over, so she spoke not another word as she reached for the man's hands...

The man was a corpse before she left the alley.
