Lilith DeBrough

The view from the window was breathtaking. The valley below lay serene, seemingly quiet despite the war raging on. It was a different type of war from the bloody messes of the Feral Wars, though. Not as obvious. Silent spy-games, court intrigue, and kidnapping were more prevalent than anything resembling combat now. She hadn't been limited to the confines of Lucien's keep just yet, but she knew the day was fast approaching when he wouldn't let her or Jez out of his sight.

Yet all of this seemed secondary to the fifteen year old staring out of the window, her usually violet-colored eyes so deep in thought that they were clouded over with gray. Hearing the footsteps approaching, Lilith had already vanished the glass and was halfway out the window by the time the door to her room opened. She felt herself freeze, limbs caught in an invisible web that held her fast to her spot. Slowly, she was pulled back until she was fully inside her room, the glass reforming in the pane before her face. Only then was she released.

Lilith spun around, anger flashing dangerously in her eyes. Quinn stood before her, arms crossed over his chest, leaning casually against her door frame. His expression made her want to wipe the smirk off his face for good. "This is my room. You have no right barging in here without knocking first, Guardian or not," she hissed. She approached Quinn slowly, until she was right in front of him, staring up into his eyes. He was sixteen, and a good head taller than her already. She wasn't impressed. "You will learn your place, and you will respect my privacy."

Quinn stared down into her eyes for a very long time, silent volumes passing between them. An odd expression Lilith had not seen before crossed Quinn's face, and she quirked a brow, making a mental note to ask him about that later. Quinn finally acquiesced, if not for the sake of what she was now, then at least in acknowledgment of what she would become to him someday. From between gritted teeth he spoke, "Lady, I am sorry I violated your...quarters." Lilith gave a snort at his choice of words and meaningful pause. Quinn ignored it and continued. "Lucien requests an audience." He bowed his head lightly and moved to exit her room. On his way out, he turned his head to the side, giving her only his profile as he spoke the next word. "Immediately." Then he was gone, his almost silent stride fading from Lilith's range of hearing.

Lucien was home! Lilith's heart jumped in her chest and the lightning storm that Quinn had stirred behind her eyes quelled. Her bare feet carried her out of her room and down the hall, soundless but for the soft rustle of her wings as she ran. He still needs to teach me how to silence these things, Lilith mused. This much noise could get me killed in a fight.

Slowing to her natural stride, Lilith was all grace as she stopped before the ceiling-high double doors. A shiver ran down her spine, causing a fluid disturbance in her wings, like silk rippling beneath a breeze. A seemingly delicate hand raised poised to knock, but before her knuckles could make contact with the ironwood door, it swung open, revealing nothing but darkness within.

Lilith strained her eyes, but this was not normal dark. This was Darkness, created to blind an opponent. She turned to look behind her, at the hallway she had come from, but it was gone. Everything was black, and she was engulfed in it. Immediately, Lilith stopped moving, silencing her breathing and using her power of Body to momentarily cease her heartbeat. Her eyes closed, then opened, the color in them replaced with a mercury sheen. That single whisper of eyelashes on her cheek was enough for her attacker to pinpoint her location. Lilith felt the movement of air to the left of her head only a split second before the arm closed around her neck.

(( Note: Clearly this is Lilith's history pre-New York. As of right now, there is nothing 18+ about this thread, but violence and other things may appear, so I want to cover my butt, so to speak. Some parts of this storyline are tidbits of her history I have written solo. All characters in the story are my creation, and I have permission from the muns who played them for me to use their words for certain scenes. Thus ends the note ^.^ ))
