Return Landing

The skyships screeched overhead and he could hear their metallic wings cutting through the air like a dagger wielded by a mad man, when what was called for was the precision and care of a skilled healer's scalpel. He preferred the natural sight and sounds of wings of birds and other beasts to that of things made, but he had no choice if flight was needed " by him, or any others of his kind.

He had not had the ground of the planet Rhydin under his boots for almost three years. It might have surprised a few to know that he could tell the difference of worlds he had travelled to just by the soil he stood on. It helped that the smells were vastly different, along with its sounds. On the mount slope to the north-west of the lands, far outside of the eclectic, strange city that had the same name as the world he returned to, he stood in contemplation of much.

Thaelic Ar-Juhran, flyer of a silerac runner and a hunter of beasts, topped six feet in height. It was not the rays of any sun or star that cast his skin light bronze but natural pigment. His head lacked hair and instead a skullcap of feathers that was mostly white had mottled grey and black through it. Black eyes shone like polished, round stones of onyx. By a glance at him, it was clear he could contend against most in a matter of fists and steel. The strength in him can be dangerous and is contained in almost every moment so that he would not do harm to those he does not mean to. The rest of him seemed quite human, but his hearing and sense of smell were exceptional.

All about him on the ground were bags of skins from various beasts that held supplies and belongings. Each of the bags was waterproof and sewn with what looked like catgut. And several yards away were two horned, stocky looking animals of burden that had come from Avithor. The air was not cold in that part of Rhydin yet, but steaming breath rushed from the animals" nostrils with every exhale like some dragons were known to do.

Bags of his belongings and his weapons were loaded on the animals before he led them down towards the city where he would put them in the Red Dragon Inn until the home on the northern range's cliffs was built.
