(Lost To Time)

*****Lasherette had kept to herself pretty much, save for the very few times she went into towne for something. Or bored to death, actually venture near the RDI. But that she did.

Most nights was the same people, same conversations, same B.S. But just after Christmas....she met a man. A paladin of sorts, named Sepher Serado. As usual no one seemed to notice the man half lying in the chair, with blood pouring out from under his armor. Noticing him immediately, unafraid, she approached him. He was feverish, and bleeding. Helping him to stand, she took him out of the Inn. Of course no one noticed or offered to lend a hand carrying a large man through the door, lobby, down the stairs and into her waiting coach.

He was younger than she, and very handsome. He mumbled something about a battle. She didn't know anything about any new wars...perhaps he came in through some portal, or the Nexus dropped him there. Either way...didn't matter. He needed her help.

Taking him back to her home, she had her male servants get him upstairs to a guest room, and remove all his clothing. Seeing his armor bloodied and dented, she asked Warren her coachman to take it to the blacksmith Sylus....if he was available, if not then to any silversmith he could find.

With all kinds of natural herbs and medicinal's on a small cart beside the bed, she spoke to him, calmly. Asking where he was from, what his name was, and if he was indeed a Paladin. As they talked she tended the gash that went in under his armor chest plate and came out the top of it, slicing his cheek.

Her delicate fingers were gentle, yet unwavering as she cleaned, packed the wound with a mixture of herbs, and such as was needed. As she covered it, she mentioned that he was lucky that the armor chest plate diverted it somewhat, otherwise he surely would have died quickly.

He was exhausted by the time she was done. In and out of consciousness, she sat with him till he was in a deep sleep. Something she had put in the tea she had Cook bring up to him. Leaving his room, she kept Gregory there in the room, should her patient awaken or need anything.

As she bathed, then dressed for bed.....she wondered why no one in the Inn would help him. She....well she understood, though she didn't agree with most people's opinion of her. Seeing as most never had even spoken to her in their lives. Yet, believed fabricated rumors spoken by a scorned man. She shook her head at the thought. Well...since Alex, she hadn't been with anyone...the male species was something she preferred to live without these days.

When she awoke, her maid servant asked her if she wished to know about Sir Sepher. "Know what?" Lash asked with a furrowed brow. "Know that he wanted to know the moment you awoke, so he could come and thank you." As Lash rose from her bed, she picked up her robe from the end of it, a look of concentration on her face, as she did so. "Aye....tell Sir Sepher I should enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in my sitting room. And bring both, as I do not know what he likes." With a nod and smile the maid left her room.

She wasn't gone a minute when she heard someone running down the hall. With a solid wrap upon her door, she couldnt help but grin. "Come....in." Before she could say the second word Sepher was already "in".

She motioned to the highback chair beside her, but he came directly to her. Going down on one knee, he grabbed her hand and kissed it over and over, even holding it gently in calloused hands to his forehead. His words were of thanks, and honor, and burden, and finally she pressed a finger to his lips to silence him. "Please, please Sir Sepher...sit here...beside me. You are most welcome. I did nothing anyone else would have done. "Aye...but no one else did do anything....that is my point." Lash looked into his hues of hazel and smiled, seeing a truly grateful soul staring back at her. "Was an honor, truly." A large calloused hand came out and caressed her cheek, gently as if she were made of porcelain and would break.

"M'Lady....to me you were like an angel....please...I ask but one thing. What is your name" A blush rose to her cheeks..."Lady Lasherette Beresford." She replied in a hushed tone. "Well Lady Lasherette....you saved my life...and I am forever indebted to you." Pausing a moment...she thought before saying it, but did none the less. "No...I believe you saved me." *****
