Jewell wore her most comfortable shoes for the first full day of Fashion Week. She was going to need them! After a long night partying at the Fashion Week kickoff, The Empress was supposed to be up and running first thing in the morning to see the RhyDin Fashion's House of Horrors. Unfortunately, too much champagne forced her to put off visiting the exhibition to later in the week.

She did make it to the Baroness Beauty Spring Lunch though! It meant missing the Kitchy Kando show, unfortunately, but Jewell could live without it. See considered stopping by the Heavenly Boutique later to either hear the highlights or hear the show torn apart.

She made sure to visit the Abroad in Adenna Exhibition; she figured she needed to learn some things about Adenna fashion in case she ever visited Harris like he was always telling her she should. Then it was on to the Brix in Babel Show quickly followed by the Jackson Walt show.

Then home to collapse.

Charlie Darling arrived to support Sabine at the Baroness Beauty Spring Launch as well, remaining until the event's end where she lingered in order to congratulate those involved and mingle with familiar faces.

Lucy stuck entirely to the Main Tent today, catching Muziak & Co and then the Highlife Haberdashery Runway Show. She tried keeping an empty seat next to her as much as possible, a seat that was occasionally occupied by her ghost, Reginald, for those who could see him. The two definitely seemed to have their heads together during the Highlife show.

Yasmin was bright and early for her special appearance as WHAM! 101.1FM's DJ Zazzy Yas at Tuesday's Muziak & Co. showing at the Main Tent.

She had no idea what fashion should be, so she consulted a few high end fashion magazines. After finding a unique two piece gown, the shapeshifter went with it. A cream sleeveless top with burgundy appliqu? paired with a bright red chiffon skirt. Sculpted, cut-out beige heels added to the look. One of her two cream colored bracelets had little dangling rose gold heart and shamrock charms. Definitely wanting to have a little love and luck for the show, she was excited to pick the charmed bracelet. She added a deep ruby ring in rose gold. But her best idea of all was a set of gold and burgundy earrings that matched fairly closely to her appliqu'd top.

Wednesday Sapphire steadfastly refused to get up in time for the Rise and Shine: Breakfast & Beauty Tips event, so Jewell went alone to that.

The teen was awake enough to join her (a bit late) for the L.D. 50 Pool Party though, where the two were a social force to be reckoned with. Neither minded that they missed The Remmington Collection show and the How to Dress Like a Man course.

Tired out from the day, they also skipped Fox Footing.

L.D. 50 Spring/Summer Collection Pool Party March 2, 2016 3 Caminito Del Bah"a, Seaside

The beach house L.D. 50 rented for their spring/summer collection roll-out was located in the northwestern reaches of the Seaside district. The neighborhood attracted its fair share of wealth, although not to the extent of New Haven, partially by choice (many of its residents preferred Seaside's better access to the water) and partially because they simply were not rich enough for the glitz and glamour of New Haven. That said, 3 Caminito Del Bah"a would give many of the homes in New Haven a run for their money. The two-story house was painted yellow, with blue accents around the doors and windows, and the roof was terra cotta. It had been built on a small hill that overlooked the beach, but there was a wooden staircase just past the gate in the backyard that easily led visitors down to the beach. Most of that backyard was, in fact, taken up by a pool, shaped roughly like a figure-8 or infinity sign, and a beige porcelain tiled deck. Much of the inside of the house had been emptied out of furniture, with a makeshift bar placed in the kitchen, and the bedrooms cordoned off from visitors. An additional bar and space to mix and mingle away from the hustle and bustle was available up on the second floor, where a covered upstairs patio was located. A sound system had been set up throughout the home and backyard, playing an eclectic mixture of samba, reggae, gulf folk a la Jimmy Buffett and Jack Johnson, and house (at Locke's insistence).

Rather than do a Benson Boulevard-style runway show to introduce its 2016 Spring/Summer Collection, L.D. 50 opted for something a little different. Locke, several of his workers (including store managers Roger Aldamiel, Misha Hatteman, and Davvin Gearspan, and wisp general manager Andressa Sugimoto Moraes), and some more traditional runway models hung out by the pool, dressed in various outfits from the new line. Guests were free to ask any of the "models" questions about the clothing they were wearing, whether it was the cost, what materials were used, or what sizes it was available in. Locke, to the surprise of many fashionistas who remembered how he used to freeze everything he touched, wore a vintage-style snowflake patterned swimsuit, and even swam a few laps in the heated pool. Andressa wound up handling most of the schmoozing of guests who Locke did not know well, but the ice elf did manage to, at a bare minimum, say hello to most of those who came.

Thursday Jewell made an appearance with Sapphire at the Faerie Fashion Accessories workshop. She dragged the teen away (she was very interested in the different beers Feygarten had to offer and only somewhat interested in Faerie fashion accessories) so they could go to the Millie & Mallie Runway Show to see "Aunt Koy".

Sapphire was over-the-moon whenever she saw Thia and little Malachite. In her time, the former was like her older sister and she had grown up playing with Mal.

The teen wanted to attend Grandeur and Ghouls, but both women were complaining of tired feet and returned to Little Elfhame early instead.

Kate was in heaven. Accessories, a runway show (where she ran into Lucy and they sat together) and people talking about new designs. Stick a fork in her, she was done by the end of the day.

Friday Jewell and Sapphire were both very excited to attend Get Your Game Face On.

After that, they spent the rest of the day borrowing Rath from Kalamere so Jewell could donate half her closet to the Designer Duds event. Jewell stopped by the PUBLIC event by herself.

Wanting to show support for Sabine, Saila was the fiftieth person to arrive and as such snagged the last free mini palette. Well, she'd have been there sooner, but the girl had never been to New Haven on purpose before and she might have gotten a little turned around.

After hanging out long enough to say hello to both Sabine and Bailey, whom she'd met in the fashion show the night before, Saila headed for the Inn to nurse her headache and check on her brother. She was headed downstairs for a cocktail when she ran into a certain Spaniard and a bright orange baby pig.

Whatever else she'd had plans for that day got massively derailed by what she found at the end of Salvador's map.

Tuesday

When she'd first agreed to be part of the Fashion Week festivities, Saila had had every intention of checking out the Wedding Expo, if only because Coilin had made wedding shops sound really scary, and anything that was supposedly really scary piqued her curiosity.

With that plan clearly thrown straight out the window, she spent the day trying to trace the directions given to her at the bank the day before. It took some doing, but she was able to get there and back — and mostly keep herself together, even, in time to make it to the Talent Show.

It brought a much needed smile to her face, and afterwards she headed to the Red Dragon where she drank with a songbird, a Spaniard and a Cajun.

She'd run into Grace from the Barlow Caravan the previous week, and the pint sized stylist had mentioned that she was participating in a breakfast event during fashion week. She needed hair models to show off some of the tips she was going to explain, and would Saila mind terribly being a model"

Seeing as the breakfast in question was being hosted by the same lovely lady who had included her in the Fashion Show in the first place, Saila agreed. Hey, she certainly had the hair for it, yeah'

The early hour didn't bother her, and she sat still drinking her coffee while Grace braided and rebraided those long purple waves into a number of different styles. When she was done playing model, Saila helped herself to a mimosa, made a face and tried a glass of straight champagne instead.

Though she'd had plans to attend another event, the strain of the last several days was really starting to wear on her, so after saying her goodbyes, Saila retreated to her safe spot by the ocean and slept for twelve hours straight.

A little disoriented when she woke up on Thursday, she dressed in a hurry to make it to the Marketplace in time for her appointment with a certain Gypsy King. Solving all the world's problems together in an hour or less, Saila parted ways with Mark just in time to find her way to the Grandeur and Ghouls seminar. The girl had .....basically no idea what any of those words meant individually, much less together, so it seemed like a thing to go check out.

Highly informative, Saila found herself in possession of all kinds of new words and thoughts and ideas to mull over as she made her way from there to the Skewer an Omelette Bar in the Arena, mostly to find out what on earth an omelette might be. Finding the event hosted by her favorite Cajun, Saila stayed long enough to spend a little time with him, the Spaniard and the polar bear, but as the event broke up she found herself drifting back to the bar.

Kate went to support Sabine and Cookie for their Game Face show, yelling her support from the crowd. Then she scurried to the Neese show and back for the make up expo after. Good thing she wore her comfy heels today.

Grace Cassidy, Master Colorist and Hair Technician with Hair or Dye Studios in the Marketplace, was on hand bright and early Wednesday morning for the Rise and Shine Breakfast. She brought with her a handful of hair models, including Saila DeFortes, on which she demonstrated a number of simple tricks for giving your hair style a little more kick.

She was also available for on site color consultations, her portfolio on display for anyone interested.

Friday morning, March 5

Certain the logo on the business card in his hand matched the wood sign swaying over the shop's door, Cris pocketed the former and slipped inside. He'd hoped to catch the Designer in a moment of inactivity to discuss a certain ensemble, though he had been to enough public events in his life to know that may not be possible.

Dressed in black from throat to sole, close fitting leather and denim, he felt supremely out of place among finer, brightly colored fabrics and their elegant drape over thin mannequins on his way deeper into the shop.

On Thursday Thorn spent all her time away from the tent. The majority of her attention was given to the lovely duo of Flora and Blossom.

The foraging nature of the workshop nudged against a few places in her own curriculum at Bristle Crios. Wiggled and niggled until, by the end of the discussion Thorn was planning a new avenue for her own teaching, and researching the best ways to work a few bare-necessities survival courses into the courses offered at the Dream Chasing Centers.

Friday saw the redneck still working and planning and plotting (a few of her students were worried, a few were excited) and fine tuning. She was so distracted that, in the end, all she found the time for was the Designer Duds clothing drive.

At least twice throughout the day she was seen, laden down with a trio of over filled, mismatched bags of heavy canvas construction. Both times she took a few minutes to unpack the bags, carefully and neatly transferring their contents to the provided bins, even helping sort when need arose, before leaving again.

Though she made damn sure to put work and distractions away well in time to attend the showing at PUBLIC.

Saturday she made a day of it. From the wisp showcase, to the TRASH! concert, down into the wrap party, Thorn's silver embellished, red suede boots kept her going.

All smiles and laughter she cheered wildly for the opening acts, and louder still when the girls took the stage. Anyone who happened to be close enough to the redneck might catch certain tell-tale movements as she firmly resisted the urge to start a Pit. Y'know, unless someone else kicked one off. Then all bets were off.

At the wrap party she moved from person to person, whether or not she knew them, to offer her congratulations on such a brilliantly successful show, and her thanks for sharing their art so readily. For her friends, those she knew by name or face, she offered warmly squeezing hugs and quick, firefly dancing cheek kisses.

Saturday, March 5th wisp Showcase The Mill at Little Elfhame

The wisp showcase was a standard runway show, albeit not one located where the traditional RhyDin fashion house shows typically occurred. Of course, that was because wisp was not a Millie & Mallie, or a Highlife Haberdashery, nor did it aspire to be. It was meant as a playground for Locke's designers, to flex their creative muscles in a way that L.D. 50's fast fashion needs didn't always allow for. It also served as an incubator for future L.D. 50 offerings; those who attended the pool party earlier in the week and had paid attention to the wisp summer pop-up might have noticed L.D. 50 re-using those wisp swimsuit designs in their spring/summer line.

They had promised a display of past, present, and future wisp offerings, and they did not disappoint. Since the present iteration of wisp was shoes (men's and women's), all the models came down in wisp #5 footwear regardless of the rest of their outfit. Much of the past on display during the show revolved around the Empress of Little Elfhame, and the wisp collaboration they had done while Jewell was Baroness of Dockside.

What most people were waiting for, though, were the future items that wisp was giving a sneak peak of. Based on what came down the catwalk, military style, stripes, and oceanic themes were good bets for whatever they were looking at doing next.
