From 10:00 AM until the last freedom fighters go home, the beaches of Seaside will be overrun on July 4th by those coming out to celebrate Independence Day. Sponsored by the Terran-American Expat Club, Hunt Energy, and H&A Industries, the event is open and free to the public. Featuring food, drinks, and family friendly beach activities, the crowning jewel of the evening will be an hour long fireworks show put on shortly after sundown. A number of the city's food trucks and independent eateries have come out for the event, all providing their fare at absolutely no charge. While there may be no cost to partake, donations are being accepted for the Old Market Women's Shelter and the Rhydin Welcome Center.

Sadie spent most of the day playing conductor for the many vendors coming in and out of the event. It didn't keep her from drinking more than her share though and by the time the fireworks show began, she was more than content to curl up with Sam on one of the many comfy spots on the beach.

While neither he nor any of his family were of Amarican or even Terran origin, Ebon had a great admiration for the ideals of that nation, and they even had a vacation home in Chicago. Plus, most of the kids loved a good fireworks show. So he and Phen treated their children by blood and fosterage to a day at the Seaside beach, enjoying hot dogs (no ketchup!), BBQ ribs, and blue lemonade before enjoying the spectacular evening pyrotechnic display.

Most of the little ones were worn out by the time they got home that night, but all of them were happy.

Raven and little Addie were there to soak up some sun, build an epic sandcastle, and eat as many french fries as they could before the fireworks show.

Kate didn't know what the heck this Independence thing was all about but she heard there was going to be a party. Free drinks, free food, fireworks 'asploding. That sounded like a good time, no matter the reason - she would definitely be there.

Lucy joined Thorn on her little stretch of sand, settling beside her with her beach umbrella and lounge chair. She also tagged along to explore the eats and drinks, waving down Kate for some company too. She never went deeper in the water beyond getting her ankles wet, but she kept cool with a steady flow of iced drinks until the sun went down and it was time to enjoy the fireworks!

Beach blonde Jewell showed up with bestie wife Rayvinn for a day at the beach. It was unclear if either of them understood the reason for the party, but that didn't seem to stop them from enjoying themselves to the full.

They were keen on drinking themselves silly (or as silly as the alcohol tolerant girls could get). They employed several good looking men to set up their umbrella and towels. There was a contest to see who would be allowed to apply lotion to their backs. Jewell showed off her re-acquired magic in the water. They spent some time with Thorn, said hi to Kate and Lucy, and seemed intent on being the life of the party whenever possible.

Sira showed up early afternoon to soak up some sun, grab a little bit of food, and drink most of the festive looking drinks.

Bryn was of course with her and of the two of them was the only one to make it into the waves. The closest Sira got to stripping down to her bathing suit was to take off her flip flops so she could walk through the foam and look for shells and sea glass.

Not really one for fireworks she left a little before dusk.

Arriving mid-afternoon, Roach takes a slink around to size up the food trucks with a discerning eye; snack time was importante. Onwards she prowled, avoiding the family fun side of things as much as possible...(and let's be honest, the families avoid her and that tank top like the plague..) and, if it so happens that a child makes her acquaintance as it runs by, she makes a scary face at them, whispers "boo" or threatens to steal their food if they don't split, using her black parasol to encourage them out of her way with a little tap of its peak to their bottoms. Shoo!

Once the sky darkens enough, there is a crisp snap as the parasol is closed and tapped along the ground beside her like a cane as she soaks up the many sights and sounds taking place, sauntering here and there, lurking in shadow during the times she breaks to stuff her face with some incredible stall confection.

Kate and her cross paths, share a few words and disappear for a time...there was always business to be discussed in some shadowy recess or corner...

If and when Robert makes it out of the Otherworld Museum after his preparations for the next exciting exhibit, they reunite over a festive drink to watch the Fireworks fill the sky in brilliant bursts of red, white and blue, amongst the cheers of the crowd; coloured shadows filling their faces tilted back, side by side.

Over the course of the entire day she is often found distracted from all around her by her cell phone while indulging in a cigarette. The messages appear to at once bring frustration and delight to that serious face.

The day is enjoyed: Mischief is had. Shenanigans are lived. And eventually she returns to the murky streets of the West End, slinking through the shadows, strange little black cat, to return to her small apartment..

Back home, Independence Day was always one of Cassie's favorites. To find similar celebrations in Rhydin? Well talk about the best luck ever. Sure, she had to bribe Tralle to get him to come with her, but eventually he agreed and so the little bird and her surly companion staked their claim to a patch of beach beneath an umbrella where they drank the day away until the fireworks show that evening.

Saila and Hex came together, because fireworks. Socializing and booze consumption definitely happened as Saila introduced the big guy to the friends she saw while they were there. The purple haired girl doesn't entirely understand the point behind the Fourth of July or why it's being celebrated in Rhydin, but anything that involves booze and blowing stuff up has her vote.

Layla came to see how RhyDin celebrated the Fourth of July, having loved the event on Earth so much. She spent most of her time conversing with unfamiliar faces, surfing the waves, laying out on the beach. When she felt settled and ready, she delved into the grub and soon after had a taste of Patriot Pop Rock Shooters. The night finished off for her with a grand display of the fireworks and she found herself fully enjoying the Fourth in RhyDin.

Sun, sand, and suds are always a great way to spend a day.
