ABOUT THE STARLIGHT THEATRE The Starlight Theatre is a unique Rhydin treasure with a vibrant past stretching back more than seventy-five years. After closing its doors in 2007, it sat empty until it was bought at auction in 2014. It reopened in early spring 2015, fully restored and with new management.

The Starlight's fa"ade reflects its heritage with a carefully preserved 1940s-style marquee that stands more than three stories tall. The interior continues the retro theme with lush red velvet seating, restored woods, geometric carpeting and tile, and gilt accents.

Eden was still pretty new to movies, so sitting through a double-feature was a lot to ask. But when Cory saw that Young Frankenstein was showing, a personal favorite of his, it seemed like a great idea for date night. Armed with junior mints and popcorn, Eden and Cory settled in for the movie together. She had a lot of questions as the movie went on, and he had to remind her to whisper, but she still thought it was pretty funny, the two of them laughing together and enjoying their visit to the Starlight Theatre.

Saila hadn't seen a whole lot of movies yet, but of the few she'd seen, Beetlejuice was her absolute favorite. Which....was actually pretty funny when she thought about it in retrospect. Considering that these days she was basically the weirdo in black who could see and talk to ghosts. Life unconsciously imitating art' Hey, thanks for that, Life.

She was really getting into this whole Halloween thing, too, so when Hex said he wanted to go check out some of the movies at the Starlight —on the night that Beetlejuice was playing, no less!—the girl was totally on board with it. "Horror movies don't exactly scare me," he'd said with that devilish smirk of his, "and I doubt they scare you either. But these aren't really supposed to be scary. They're like...comedy zombies."

So date day at the movies with the comedy zombies it was.

Neither Harper nor Percy had ever been to the theater, but Harper couldn't pass up the opportunity to see one of her favorite films on the big screen. They had looked longingly at the cocktails on display at the bar as they headed into the lobby, but both were still too young to order them. Instead, they grabbed some popcorn and settled in just in time.

Harper seemed to know the film by heart, from the medical demonstration by Dr. Fankenstein (which he so carefully pronounced "Fronkensteen"), to the happy ending with two unlikely couples. When Harper's enthusiastically whispered rendition of the candle and secret door scene proved too distracting for the surrounding audience members, Percy started chucking popcorn at her face in an attempt to shut her up. Instead, they devolved in a fit of giggles and a flurry of popcorn as they both competed to catch the most kernels in their mouth.

By the time the credits rolled around, they could hardly catch a breath between fits of laughter. They brushed the loose popcorn from their hair and headed home, determined to come back the next time one of their favorite films was showing.

Cane and Rekah showed up to the Starlight Theatre dressed to the nine's, deep in character as a pair of upper class rich folk. They ordered two Zombie Gut Punch drinks and took their seats in the balcony whereupon they went through pounds of candy they'd smuggled in via Rekah's bag of holding. They managed to stay mostly quiet during the shows, but there was quite a lot of snickering from the two that likely needed shushing from those seated around them.

She found a place in the back, with a clear line of escape should it be needed, and settled in with plenty of refreshments from the concessions stand. And a couple of tasty adult beverages as well.

Seemed like a bit of a Bruce Campbell fest in a way, so she totally had to drag out the Boomstick shirt.

Shy missed the double feature playing at the Starlight Theatre on the weekend of the 8th and 9th, but that does not deter her from seeing the other movies being shown during the week. First up ....Young Frankenstein. Tomorrow ....Beetlejuice. Friday ....Army of Darkness. What a great way to spend a couple of hours out in the afternoon. She is sure to do her best to persuade Victor to join her at each matinee during these entertaining '31 Days of Halloween'.

After purchasing a medium-sized buttered popcorn, two large boxes of chocolate candy (Milk Duds and Junior Mints), and a large soft drink (Hi-C? Orange) from the concession area she enters the theatre and locates a seat in the center section with a good view of the screen, then settles in comfortably.

Needless to say, Young Frankenstein definitely tickles her funny bone!
