The Seaside Fireworks Spectacular is back and bigger than ever! From 10:00 AM until the last freedom fighters go home, the beaches of Seaside will be overrun on July 4th by those coming out to celebrate Independence Day or freedom in general.

Sponsored by the Terran-American Expat Club, Hunt Energy, and H&A Industries, the event is open and free to the public. Featuring food, drinks, and family friendly beach activities, the crowning jewel of the evening will be an hour long fireworks show put on shortly after sundown. Rumor has it, some of the lingering Midsummer Fae magic has been commandeered to make this show even bigger and better than years prior.

A number of the city's food trucks and independent eateries have come out for the event, all providing their fare at absolutely no charge (though said eateries are reimbursed by sponsors accordingly). While there may be no cost to partake, donations are being accepted for the Rhydin Welcome Center and the Rhydin LGBTQ Community Outreach Center

Na-rae decided to tug her favorite senpai from Kabuki out to Seaside for some fireworks, food, and more food. There may have been choking when she challenged Izumi to a watermelon eating contest.

Though not a Terran herself, Claire had a thing for fireworks. And so the Diamond joined in on the festivities with Cooper and the twins in tow. There was plenty to be eaten though she stayed away from all of the pretty drinks and stuck to water for the most part. Averia built sand castles and Alexander spent much of his time in or near the water before the whole fam gathered together on a fluffy blanket when it came time to watch the firework show.

Nothing would keep the dynamic duo away from a pyrotechnics show, even if Niko spent most of his day playing with little Addie, Avy, and Alex.

Ishmerai arrived at the beach shortly after dawn (as instructed) to claim "prime beach real estate" with a series of umbrellas, blankets, towels, beach chairs, and fully stocked coolers.

Jewell and Sapphire arrived mid-morning, ready for a long day at the beach. They were immensely pleased with the perfect spot the poor knight had reserved for them. They needed the space if Hope, Evelyn, and Eden all showed up (as they had discussed during another late-night New Haven pool party on Saturday) and brought along their friends. There was also more than enough room for other friends to jump in on Camp Empress for the day.

Jewell was happy to socialize with friends she knew and made a point of making some new ones as well (including a few young men willing to help apply lotion to her back). Sapphire and Ishmerai hung out at home base when they weren't in the water; the teen had brought along a music player and blasted some jams for their part of the beach to enjoy. She also joined in a volleyball game mid-day.

Katt could be spotted at the festivities in shiny gold because....Shiny! (Seriously was the whole reason she picked out the swimsuit) She was promised fireworks and cheese fries - this seemed enough to get her to leave the work desk for a few hours.

In her company was a large catamount, who would spent most of his time basking in the sun like a lazy cat and giving quite the dirty eyed at anyone who seemed to be looking at Katt for too long.

Katt, on the other hand, played with a large beach ball...Okay so most of the playing was her balancing on her stomach like it was a resting spot so she could watch the others and eat cheese fries. Once the fireworks started it made for a comfy spot to watch them!

Of course she didn't mind chatting with others so when they showed up and wanted to make conversation with her. She made sure to share her cheese fries but getting her to move off of that ball seemed a rather hard task!

Ed dragged Goshen out bright and early to claim a section of the beach all for themselves, and his cousins (Jameson, Abby, Hector, and Linda), who happened to tag along with them. There was much drinking and passing around of questionable, smoke-able substances. Firecrackers, sparklers, and roman candles were lit in abundance. They had set up their own shaded pavilion made of beach umbrellas and the back of the van, which Jameson had parked right in the sand somewhere near enough to the water but not too close to be swallowed by the tide. They swam and partied and played all kinds of games. There was even a fair amount of PDA, some of which made Ed red in the cheeks. He couldn't even pass it off as sunburn since Goshen had been meticulous about the sunscreen.

Ed was certain to wave an exuberantly cheerful hello to anybody and everybody he recognized. He was too high most of the time to be embarrassed. Even the presence of a certain ex-boyfriend couldn't ruin his mood. The lot of them stayed for the fireworks and beyond. There were rumors of Ed and Goshen disappearing for an hour when it was good and dark. Eventually, they all passed out in the sand in the wee hours of the morning.

Not one to pass up fireworks, Antonia would show up to the party with Charley by her side. Even criminals can appreciate a day at the beach, especially one that ends with explosions. They would take their R&R for the day very seriously partaking in plenty of food, drink, and lazy swimming. When the sun sets for the evening, Charley and Antonia would find a cozy place along the shoreline to watch the show, commenting about the quality of the fireworks even without the addition of grenades.

Though Goshen spent most of the day getting high (but abstaining from anything alcoholic) with Ed and his cousins, he enjoyed the brief company of his pseudo-family for a game of frisbee in the sand. Fox and Margot didn't bother the young adults for very long, more than happy to leave Goshen with his new friends for the remainder of the night.

Hope was not from Earth and had rarely taken the chance to visit. Even when she had, it was definitely not on the 4th of July. Still, she would be ashamed to miss out on any shenanigans and partying at the beach. She arrived and setup base with Jewell, Eden and Evelyn but made sure to have drinks with anyone who she knew- or didn't.

When she wasn't chit chatting, drinking or trying all of the activities she was sunbathing for sure working on that bronze.

Even though her day started with, "Why these colors?", it ended with Hope looking forward to the next 4th.

Mark and Grace arrived together with a handful of other gypsies. They spread out colorful blankets and pitched a couple of canopies for protection from the sun's rays. They stayed all day, partaking in games, splashing in the waves, and curling up together to watch the fireworks.

Grace, who is originally from the UK, was doing the patriotic thing for her man anyway by wearing a red bikini and blue earrings, but she still had a Union Jack temporary tattoo plastered prominently on one arm. She could be found making frequent trips to the food tables through out the day.

Sira would show up early in the morning and leave long before the fireworks. She'd partake a little of the food, mostly any fresh fruit around, and some drinks, but she'd avoid most of the crowd.

Was it really any surprise that Malcolm would show up? A good number of his favorite things were all in the same place: women, drinks, the beach, fireworks. As if he'd miss it. He'd stay most of the day, enjoying the water, laying in the sand, paying visits and chatting with those he knew and even some he didn't, flashing that prize-winning smile the majority of the time. When 10:00 rolled around, he sprawled out in the sand and enjoyed the fireworks show.

It had taken a little eyelash batting, but Tahlia had managed to convince Simon to come with her to the fireworks spectacular (The promise of her in a bikini may have helped). It was late afternoon before they got to the beach- just enough time to hit the food vendors and grab some drinks. The search for the perfect sunning spot took them by Hope, Eden, Jewell, Sapphire and whoever else was chilling with the New Haven hot tub crew, and of course, she'd have to pause and say hi to Mal, and make introductions. With all of that, it was a good thing the spot they found also turned out to be a great spot to watch the show once dark fell, even if the percussive booms overhead "forced" her to hide against Simon's side for most of it. Simon made an attempt at playing aloof at first, keeping that tough-guy bravado in check. It all dropped the moment that first firework went off. As the sky lit up in bright colors and bursts, he was mesmerized, lost in the celebratory jubilee. A smile on his face and a blonde at his side.

Andy rolled up solo, her usual partner in crime out gallivanting with the newest flavor of the week. She basked in the gentle purring of her newest acquisition for a moment before shutting it off and swinging her leg over to stand. Giving a cursory look around, she picked up her towel from the seat and sauntered straight for the festivities. Or more accurately, straight for a sweet spot on the beach that provided an ample view of all the delicious nearly naked people. It wasn't until she ate her fill and consumed two rounds of each drink that she decided to join in the games was a good idea. Boozy sways and shrieks of laughter all night evening until she finally collapsed back on her towel to enjoy the light show.

She even snoozed away after before sleepily riding home.

The redneck dropped by to visit Mist and crew, then wandered a bit here and there.

It really wasn't all that long before she'd staked out a stretch of sand for herself. As always the water called her and she spent a great deal of time happily swimming, floating, cavorting.

When the show started, she watched more than half of it floating on her back with a half smile tugging at her edges of her mouth.

Summer was her time; she might have been on a hiatus from sprawling through the lives of all those dear to her but the siren-like girl evacuated her shelter of orange pill bottles and no-name consorts to arrive on the sandy shore of the event with barely anything to her name save for the thin ensemble on her back. Those she knew were treated like she had just seen them, half-murmuring her confessions of excitement for all their new stories that unraveled from their mouths.

She danced, drank, and was genuinely merry when tripping through the waves before the sun sank into it's bed behind the horizon and the display of fireworks captivated even the most ethereal of creatures.

Lisa may have briefly considered a need to buy a minivan that morning when she was packing the Impala to haul Liyun's friends, Nayun and herself all down to Seaside, but some things even she couldn't imagine happening. So instead, she just waved her hand at them, calling to them to squeeze in together or sit on someone's lap if need be. She'd drive safe"ish. The important thing was no one got hurt.

Before the kids could break off away on their own though, Lisa was breaking out the camera to be that mom. "Just one more!? She promised, and then had to take a couple more because someone pointed out that one of her claws was in front of the lens.

The rest of the day was undoubtedly spent alongside Nayun, swimming, sunbathing and drawing hearts in the sand while watching the fireworks.
