Jewell spent the late morning and early afternoon wandering through the Spring Arts & Crafts Fair. She wasn't reluctant to try her hand at many of the different booths even though there seemed to be a profusion of families in attendance. Much to her consternation, she worked elbow-to-elbow with several young children at each station, her heart giving a little twist every time they proudly showed off their works of art to a parent or sibling. Still, in support of local business owners and charitable organizations, she bullied through her emotions (with a personal promise of a fight in the Outback later tonight) and DIYed her heart out.

At the House of Summer's Paper Flowers booth, she made several batches of little forget-me-nots. Jewell tried her hand at making a quilt square at the Dream Chasing Simple Crochet Quilts station, but couldn't quite get the hang of it; she still gladly took the carrying bag of supplies though, promising those working the booth that she would try again when she got home. Maybe it would prove to be the therapy she so desperately needed!

After a short break to get a lemonade and cool off in the warm afternoon sun (she may or may not have doctored the lemonade with a flask from her bag), Jewell moved on to the Rhy'Din's Little Masquerade where the experts from the Shanachie Theater helped her make a killer leather mask. Her hidden knack and artistic flair showed itself with the help of Trevor as she made made a pretty cool piece of metal artwork at Metal Care, Art, and You. It had been many years, but she still remembered gruelling hours under the watchful eye of her art tutor years ago.

She walked away from the Windchimes booth run by the Dragon's Gate Orphanage with a cool wind chime made of pieces of sea glass. With a friendly wave to Nina, she skipped over the Faerie Fusion Cooking section. Jewell was pretty sure she was a lost cause in the kitchen, and no short demonstration was going to change that. Instead, she stopped at Stained Glass Workshop to make a pretty piece of stained glass featuring dragonfly wings (or perhaps it was Faerie wings) with Ciarth Whitemane's help.

The pewter figure she made under Phen's guidance at Soap Born Metal wasn't terrific, but it kind of looked like a petite, elven woman. Maybe. From the right angle. The Dala horse she painted at A Touch of Scandinavia with Shylah was a little more impressive because she just went with a solid blue!

Jewell didn't make anything, but she did stop by Do-It-Yourself Sparkle to say hi to Koyliak if she was there. She also just waved a quick hello to the ladies working the Natural Beauty table before taking a stab at the Needlework booth. After almost a half-hour, she decided things involving needles (like quilting and needlework) just might not be for her.

One of her last stops of the afternoon was at the Heavenly Sachets to work with Eless for a little while. Jewell ended up staying longer than intended to help her friend man the table even though she knew little about the scents involved!

QueenTeleperien

Three tall blonde figures one in a dove grey gown, the other who was taller than the rest, in the livery of Eldicor and a lively blonde with bright blue eyes dressed in white. Along with them was one much shorter than the rest, both with long brown hair, braided down the back. They were holding hands, as one was a child. All stop to look around at the faire to decide which booth to visit first.

The queen and her daughter stop at the various booths the women oooed and awed over some of the creations while the tallest seemed to stand back, watching around at all time, bow and arrow on his back, a long sword at his side.

Making a wind chime for Murelle's garden, paper poppies, (One was put in Gwyn's braid) all trying their hand at fried mushrooms, a mask for Gwyn. They stopped in and Erwyn created a sun catcher for her window, Teleperien enjoyed her time in the Needlework Guild of Navarra creating a small ornament. Finally they made sachets for themselves and one for Erwyn's friend Amanda. It was late afternoon; it was time to go home. Gwyn was skipping alongside Erwyn eating her mushrooms. She looked at Murelle. "This was fun Momma!"

Locke took some time away from putting out fires (metaphorical, of course) at the newly opened L.D. 50 to help the Benson Boulevard Initiative with its Do-It-Yourself Sparkle booth. Of course, he dressed up for the occasion, but only to a point. No point in getting glitter and sequins all over a suit jacket and trousers.

Winter Pearl

Date: 2015-05-07 17:55 EST
Pearl was taking her turn at the Needlework Guild of Navarra's booth. She was teaching the children how to use the tools of the trade and how easy it could be to make a picture from colored threads. The lazy daisy was one of easiest of the decorative embroidery stitches. She used a blue piece of cloth as a backing. A gold bead represented the center of the flower. Pearl made the flower petals with white thread coupled with the lazy daisy stitch. A green running stitch and a few lazy daisies placed along it formed the stem and leaves. She explained that beads were often used in place of a French Knot which was not the easiest of stitches for small hands to make.

She pointed out how the tiger on display had been made using the basic cross-stitch, lazy daisy, and the backstitch which was commonly used for outlining to bring out detail. Questions came from young and old alike. She did her best to answer them.
