((This is a live event that will kick off about 8PM ET in the Docks chat room. Please post costume and sandcastle entries in this thread. Thanks! ))

The S. S. Mini Mate is located on a coastal section of Hatton Point. Children and their adult chaperones will be able to climb aboard this refurbished and now stationary galleon. You can play pirate, learn the art of sailing, how to tie nautical knots, navigate by the stars, or just relax by the water. A redwood deck provides a dry path from the ship to the shore as well as seating to enjoy the scenic vista. An artificial waterfall as well as luminescent coral plants lend to the oceanic atmosphere.

Indoor playroom
This area is primarily for the tots that are not quite ready for the on deck activities or for inclement weather. Below this deck are sleeping quarters and more comfort facilities for overnight and weekend accommodations. These areas are accessed through the side door entrance of the ship. There is also a Captain's cabin in the upper section of the ship.

For the Children's Day Events, there will be food stands and games (horseshoes, fishing for prizes, etc.) on the ridge just above the beach area. The children's petting zoo will also be set up there. There will be contests for sandcastle building and a sea and pirate themed costume contest. A special attraction will be a pod of dolphins that normally live at Hatton Point's aquarium including their star performer, Zippy.

Ariana's Divine Delights Bakery provided the treat boxes given out to the guests. Inside the boxes were theme decorated sugar cookies, rock candy crystal sugar candies, and gold foil covered chocolate fudge coins and silver foil covered peanut butter fudge coins. Children attending will be given a pirate hat along with their treat box.

Shy wanted to make a small contribution to the Children's Day event. Those who attended were given a 'pirate' band to wear upon their wrist:
