Hold onto your hats, the Shanachie's gone Disney!

Scattered throughout the crowds attending the Children's Day events are well known characters from movies most children - and let's face it, adults - have known and loved for years. From the glittering costumes to the voices, it's them - princesses, princes, and heroes. Did you ever want to meet Hercules" Or maybe Elsa is more your style" They're there, and many others, bringing a slice of Disney World to Rhy'Din for this one event.

And that's not all.

Over the course of the morning, the Shanachie dancers will be sharing a Super Secret with anyone who dares to pass beyond the curtain of their mocked up studio - a secret that will only come to light when afternoon comes. Anyone who enters is sworn to secrecy, and probably bribed with sweet treats. Who else knows the secret' Does your best friend" The hero you arm-wrestled" What about the other Shanachie players present' All will be revealed in time.

And when that times comes, you'll know it. All of a sudden, just as lunch is settling down in your tummy and you're wondering what to do next, a voice breaks the chatter, joined by other voices, doing what the Shanachie singers do best - singing! Don't be afraid to join in, but this medley moves quick!

And just when you think the secret might never come out, the singers start up with a familiar tune, and everyone in the know can show everyone who isn't how it's done! The Shanachie dancers will lead you in a flash mob to the familiar bounce of Baloo's theme tune to round off the energetic performance.

And the princes, princesses, and heroes will still be there until the day comes to a close, bright and smiling to send you off home with a wave and a wink. See? Sometimes fairytales really do come true!

((For everyone's peace of mind, the characters played by PC Shanachie players are as follows;- Princess Jasmine, Elsa, Robin Hood, Hercules, and Ariel. NPC players are ;- Belle, Beast, Cinderella, Prince Charming, and Flynn Rider. Post away, my pretties!))

Saila didn't know the first thing about Disney when she signed up to volunteer for the Children's Day event, but not knowing what she was doing had never stopped her before. Nearly a full week of sleepover parties with Sabine and internet videos with Hex later, she'd had her crash course in all things animated, and even though she still didn't really get cartoons, she was at least more than ready with the words.

And then she got her part assignment from Mataya, and even Saila had to admit that the words to her signature song—performed at least a half a dozen times on command through out the day in addition to her section of the singing medley— were...surprisingly apt to her situation.

The charm that turned her traffic-stopping violet mane red had to be reapplied a number of times through out the day, but given the sheer amount of dancing and singing she had to do, it was infinitely better than wearing a wig. The charm that concealed her tattoos, on the other hand, held up better than ever thanks to a recent visit to Panacea — and thankfully so, considering the nature of her costume.

Joining in the flashmob in a mermaid tail proved trickier than she'd expected, but hey—it was still a lot of fun. All in all, the mercurial teen had a blast interacting with the other characters, stopping to pose for pictures with any and all kids (or adults!) who wanted them, and even signing the occasional autograph.

Who knows" Maybe being Princess for a day would help her get some votes for May Queen.

Much like Saila, Disney had not been a part of Merethyl's life experience before she had volunteered for Children's Day. She had thought she might be asked to be one of the dancers, since that was all she was really known for in the theater. Imagine her surprise when Mataya announced she was the perfect Elsa.

Cue playing Frozen on repeat at home frantically for several days, by the end of which Christian was thoroughly sick of the film, but she had a very good idea of the character she was supposed to be playing. Elsa was the Snow Queen, she'd realized, a role she had already played, but with far more nuances than she had expected to find. What she hadn't expected was the sheer enthusiasm with which small girls flocked to her when she stepped out in her costume, looking every inch like the Elsa they admired so much.

Surrounded by little girls, and very aware of the little bump at her waist that signaled the beginning of her own family, Merry let instinct lead the way, surprised by how easy it was to play along with them. She hugged and posed for photographs; she helped little people find their parents after they'd run off. She introduced them to the others playing their favorite characters when they were too shy to do it themselves. She even let go of some of her wariness to do a few little magic tricks for them - just sprays of snowflakes that danced and sparkled, nothing so involved as building a snowman. And the song ....

Well, no one at the Shanachie had ever heard her sing before. Christian hadn't even heard her sing. And yet, on request - which turned out to be in the double digits by the end of the day - Merry sang Let It Go with little voices in uneven chorus with her, hoping like hell that Mataya wasn't paying too close attention to her. She was an elf; of course she could sing. It shouldn't be that big a surprise, surely.

Fortunately Kruger had boys that were at an age where he was quite familiar with the character he'd been given. Not that this would have been much of an obstacle. If there was anything he knew how to do it was pose like a Hero!!! He wouldn't be outdone in showmanship either, going so far as to rent a white Pegasi which, though terrified, he rode in from above.

He could be found always among a sea of shining little faces. There were not too many song requests. Most of the things asked of him had to do with lifting something heavy, or maybe just one of the children with one hand. He did sing, word for word, I Can Go The Distance. There were a lot of young faces, and he knew many of them even if they didn't recognize him in his costume and makeup. There were others who had no trouble with that. Nikolai was there with little Addie, and her mother, their enthusiasm was contagious. Kruger managed to catch it to, and ham it up even more.

When she heard that the Shanachie was going to be playing Princesses for Children's Day, Yas wanted to play the part of Princess Jasmine more than anything. She loved everything that the Princess embodied. Confidence. Independence. Defiance. Jasmine was where Yas got her blue toned inspiration from, as a matter of fact. She'd deny that's where she got her name, but you be the judge.

The shapeshifter was excited to earn the part, though she was denied her continued request for a live tiger to play Raja. With a "Perfect Princess smile" on her face the entire time, Yasmin was a wonderfully sweet Princess to all the children. Most of the children were even more excited when this Princess sounded "just like the one in the movie!"

As a student of film, as far as Marcus was concerned, Errol Flynn had always been the quintessential Robin Hood, and so he'd donned Lincoln green - tights and all - and given the kids at Children's Day his very best, "Welcome to Sherwood!"

Sabine had volunteered him. Volunteered him to sing. Singing a ship chanty or some old customary lullaby he learned from his mother and sang to his younger sisters was one thing. Getting up the gusto to sing "The Bare Necessities" was another kettle of fish.

Captain's orders, though. Full voiced he took up the tune at the proper time, and even found he got into it when he saw the brightened excited looks of some of the children. It was a catchy tune, full of bounce. He might even pass it on to some old crew mates if they ever found their way through town again. Hard to be worried about his ego when he's singing 'forget about your worries and your strife.'

"If you forget the steps, don't worry about it! Just keep going, freestyle and do your own thing and remember to just have fun with it. Oh! And mind you don't step on Saila's tail during the dance! That's the last thing we need is a mermaid down!"

Josie had been delighted to help teach the dance steps for the flash mob performance of "The Bare Necessities." But the dancer was so caught up with teaching the steps, she forgot the lyrics in certain places of the song, so there may have been an unconsciously muttered "Merde" or two, that was thankfully drowned out by the other voices!

Once the performance was over and the secret no longer had to be kept under wraps, the petite ballerina could relax and thoroughly enjoyed herself through the rest of Children's Day. She took great pleasure in seeing Kruger, Saila, Merethyl, Yasmin and Marcus embody their Disney characters and watching the children swarm around them with a million questions. Her mouth fell open as soon as Merethyl started to sing, the elven's beauty's voice a veritable delight to her empathic ears.
