Children's Day Celebrations, sponsored by Mad Hatter Entertainment, The MacLeod Foundation, and Harker's Academy, will begin on Sunday, 10 April at noon. The pediatric wards of Riverview Clinic and Rhydin General Hospital will be playing host to circus performers and therapy animals. A video link will be set up for those children in isolation and ICU areas to enjoy the performances. The video links will be extended into the day rooms for any children that cannot be given a day pass from the hospitals on Monday. For those children that are mobile or able to be moved with wheelchairs, arrangements have been for them and their families to attend a live performance at Wonderplex's new circus exhibition and to visit the Children's Carnival.

Wonderplex will be open free of charge this week in honor of Children's Day. In the interests of safety: A parent or guardian must accompany any children going on the hot air balloon ride. Height requirements will be enforced on hot air balloon, bumper cars, and the roller coaster.

Tuesday, the celebration will be extended to Typhoon Bay for Rhydin's youth to enjoy some fun on the shore and in the water. Boating and fishing lessons are available. Fishing tackle will be provided. Have fun building a sandcastle, grilling, and picnicking on the shore. A tour boat will be available for those that wish to take full advantage of the sea breezes or fishing in deeper water.

For any parents that wish to take advantage of the new child care services, the Riverboat Casino and Surf and Turf Restaurant will be open for your enjoyment.

Wednesday, Wonderplex's Sweet Shoppe will be opening its doors for the first time! Children will be able to create their own sweet treats ( including cakes, pies, jellies, jams, and ice cream based treats) on site. Rhydin's well known p?tissier, Katt Batten, will be giving cake decorating lessons. Boxes will be provided for take home treats.

Thursday and Friday, with the exception of the Renaissance Faire Castle, Wonderplex's newly added attractions will be open to the public.

Saturday, 16 April, around 9PM, the Renaissance Faire Castle will be opened for the first time. More details coming soon!

Children of all ages are invited to join us under the big top for fun and excitement! Acrobats, magicians, sword swallowers, and various other acts will be in the center ring!

In the interests of animal welfare, communication was established via translators to make sure the animals and magical creatures participating in the show are there of their own free will. Elephant and pony rides will be available as well as short rides in the hot air balloon. The balloon will remain tethered during this time so as to allow as many people as possible to enjoy the view of the park. There is a height requirement for this ride as well as the need for a parent, guardian, or member of the certified child care team to accompany guests under twelve.

Wonderplex's infant and toddler daycare facilities will be open for parents to enjoy time at Wonderplex and Typhoon Bay with their older children. Certified child care attendants will also be available to look after children from age 5-13 and to help with special needs family members.

Tuesday, 12 April, Typhoon Bay's beach-side Surf and Turf Restaurant will have its grand opening and welcomes resort patrons that are of legal age; 18 or 21 depending on park and local regulations. This is due to the proximity of the Riverboat Casino which is also opening that day.

The Shanachie STARS will be out and about for Children's Day 2016, putting on their end of semester show for anyone who wants to see it firsthand!

After the performance is over, volunteers from the cast and crew of the Shanachie Theater will be setting up stalls to demonstrate and teach how theater craft brings stories alive - costume design and creation, set design and building, how the lighting and sound works. Basically, if it happens at the theater, you can bet someone will be there to teach you how it's done!

((Bit of a plug - anyone who wants to be a part of STARS, or has NPC children they'd like to include, please let me know via PM, with the ages of those children so they can be appropriately placed. Those already involved, let me know if you want to keep on and if your character needs moving up!))
