Children's Day Celebrations, sponsored by Mad Hatter Entertainment, The MacLeod Foundation, and Harker's Academy, will begin on Sunday, 10 April at noon. The pediatric wards of Riverview Clinic and Rhydin General Hospital will be playing host to circus performers and therapy animals. A video link will be set up for those children in isolation and ICU areas to enjoy the performances. The video links will be extended into the day rooms for any children that cannot be given a day pass from the hospitals on Monday. For those children that are mobile or able to be moved with wheelchairs, arrangements have been for them and their families to attend a live performance at Wonderplex's new circus exhibition and to visit the Children's Carnival.
Wonderplex will be open free of charge this week in honor of Children's Day. In the interests of safety: A parent or guardian must accompany any children going on the hot air balloon ride. Height requirements will be enforced on hot air balloon, bumper cars, and the roller coaster.
Tuesday, the celebration will be extended to Typhoon Bay for Rhydin's youth to enjoy some fun on the shore and in the water. Boating and fishing lessons are available. Fishing tackle will be provided. Have fun building a sandcastle, grilling, and picnicking on the shore. A tour boat will be available for those that wish to take full advantage of the sea breezes or fishing in deeper water.
For any parents that wish to take advantage of the new child care services, the Riverboat Casino and Surf and Turf Restaurant will be open for your enjoyment.
Wednesday, Wonderplex's Sweet Shoppe will be opening its doors for the first time! Children will be able to create their own sweet treats ( including cakes, pies, jellies, jams, and ice cream based treats) on site. Rhydin's well known p?tissier, Katt Batten, will be giving cake decorating lessons. Boxes will be provided for take home treats.
Thursday and Friday, with the exception of the Renaissance Faire Castle, Wonderplex's newly added attractions will be open to the public.
Saturday, 16 April, around 9PM, the Renaissance Faire Castle will be opened for the first time. More details coming soon!
