Rules (OOC)

The rules are simple.

♦The Egg Hunt starts March 29th and ends April 5th (first minute of April 6th will be when I stop accepting guesses and the eggs/prizes disappear into the void)

♦ Contact Katt Batten (oocly) with your guess! This can be done in PMs, live chat, trillian, etc. Make sure to add the # of your guess. Try to be descriptive with your guess. Just saying 'the inn' will not count! Also leave with me which character you plan on finding the egg IC. This isn't so I can send out icons to the proper people.

♦ Please keep eggs 1 per person and if you feel gracious enough to let others have a go, 1 per player.

♦ Once I have confirmed for you that you are correct in your guess, you can move things IC and have your character find your egg/prize. This thread will be open to posts of those egg hunting, finding eggs or not.

♦ And the most important rule —- Have Fun!

Jackie Von Tombs

Jackie popped into the inn, a bit harried and rushing about. She had a note from Maggie to respond to, and she had to meet up with her Parkour group to plan their next runs.

She finished writing in light pink ink on black stationary before realizing that she didn't have an envelope or sealing wax. Frowning, she ruffled around under the mail boxes, and found a white envelope. She tucked the message into that, and paused, realizing that her ink wouldn't show up.

Pen! She flounced and turned to the inn's registry book. As she picked up a pen....and egg rolled out! She stared at it, wide eyed.

"Ooh!" she laughed, and carefully opened it. Then she squealed in delight!

A little tiny bunny! It wiggled its little nose at her, and hopped out....with a little carrot charger.

"It's mechanical!" Jackie crooned, scooping the little thing up. "Oh, you're so adorable! Carrots! I'll call you Carrots. And Daddy won't have heart failure because you're a little ....rabbitoid. Come on, darling!"

Giggling, she tucked Carrots into her hoodie pocket, and finished addressing the envelope. Then she skipped from the inn, on her way with her errands.

Ebon Ilnaren

Ebon dropped out of the night sky to settle atop the Red Dragon's roof, and perched there for a moment. Go through the dragon hatch, or flip over onto the porch? After a short, silent deliberation, he lifted the rooftop trapdoor and slipped inside, settling among the shadowed rafters.

Watching the chaos below, he edged his way across the wooden beams. Then his hand fell upon something decidedly not wooden.

It appeared to be an egg.

Indeed, it was an egg, spun from glass and decorated with images of flowers. There was a tiny hinge in back, and a latch on the front that, when sprung, revealed a small note directing the finder to a local pet shop.

The next day, Ebon stopped by the pet shop with Azure, to pick up the gift that was waiting for her there.

Gypsy Lore

It was the early morning (very early morning!) when the Gypsy left her room in a hurry. She had renewed old contacts at the Rhydin Library and she was toying with the idea of resuming her job there. Dressed to impress in a sleek suit of light gray, her silk blouse an off-white hue, and her low slung heels the same color, Vera hurriedly locked her door before quickly striding for the stairs.

But something caught the corner of her eye, a hint of color in her peripheral. Slowing her progress, her brows daring together in a moment of confusion, she stooped down and reached for an …egg?

https://i.imgur.com/iGQjxYp.png

A beautifully painted egg, a subtle shade of red and with a spattering of bright golden stairs had found itself nestled and hidden in a corner of the hallway, tucked against the railing. It was the one closet to the stairs overlooking the Inn from above.

She looked around as if she expected the owner of the egg to come out from thin air (around here these things do happen!), demanding she hand over their property. Of course no one was there, she was completely alone by all appearances. Shrugging to herself, her mouth curling into a small smile, she started to descend the stairs when a rattle …. A rattle! Came from the egg in her hand.

Curious-cat that she’s always been, the Gypsy stopped once more and shook the egg – checking. Indeed, within the egg something rattled.

Well then.

Cracking the egg open she found inside of it a crystalline sphere of rainbow aura quartz.

A literal crystal ball. She, a Gypsy, gifted by whatever circumstances with a beautiful crystal ball.

Laughing loudly to herself and to whatever else that might be watching - it was never wise to assume otherwise! - Vera finally left the Inn and started her day, feeling as though luck may truly be on her side for once.

It might be a truly Happy Easter.

Routinely, after arriving at the Red Dragon Inn, Shy casually strolls over to the cubbyholes to check for mail. Today she is quite pleased to find a pastel pink envelope waiting for her. As she extracts the Easter card from the wooden mailbox she espies something unusual sitting in another cubby near hers, on the top row.

"Well na, hva do we have here?" she softly inquires to the multitude of dust bunnies nestling the object in the RDI's proprietors box. Peering closer she exclaims, "Oh! An egg!"

Tucking the pastel pink envelope beneath her arm, Shy gently removes the prettily painted egg out of the long-unused cubbyhole and admires the wonderful artwork. Now it just so happens this particular egg can be opened by a tiny latch in the front, allowing the female Viking easy access to the egg's content: A Celtic knot trinity pendant crafted from tungsten. Like the egg the pendant has a small hinge and latch. The pendant houses a gold colored sphere that when tapped plays a soft little chime.

"Ooooo." Shy quickly glances around the empty inn before repeating what she has heard others say many times over the decades in RhyDin ...."Finders keepers, losers weepers!"

Tuesday

An empty inn is such a drag.

Cane puttered around behind the bar for a few minutes in the hopes that someone interesting might show up, taking his time digging up a bottle of Silvermark Ale from deep inside the ice box. While nursing his beer, and because he was feeling generous, he set a pot of delicious Spanish coffee to percolate for whomever might arrive after he left.

But something caught his eye on his way out the door, something that didn't belong where he found it.

https://i.imgur.com/MnWx0YB.png

Nestled within the hand-carved figurines which belonged to the chess board Sal had attached to a table years earlier was a vibrant, colored egg.

"Curiouser and curiouser." A quiet murmur as he plucked the item off the board. Cane nudged the game pieces back into proper position on their checkered squares while studying the egg; it wasn't dangerous as far as he could tell.

Inside was a pendant crafted of refined rainbow aura kyanite, suspended on a chain of tungsten.

The Cajun pocketed the treasure as he resumed his path to the door, whistling a merry tune to mark his good fortune.

Ed

Date: 2018-04-04 20:34 EST
On Thursday afternoon, Ed and Goshen stopped by the Marketplace for lunch. While munching away on greasy, sauce-dripping gyros, they chatted up Ed’s cousins at their stall. Gus and Jack ran a legit business selling mushrooms of all varieties for consumption. Finding them busy at work was the perfect opportunity to ask them for help moving Goshen to his new apartment on the weekend. After that was settled, they took a moment to relax and finish their meals-on-the-go, at rest sitting on the ledge of the fountain in the middle of the Market Square.

“Hey,” said Ed, spotting something decidedly shiny floating in the water. “What’s that?” Without waiting for a reply, he handed his half-eaten gyro to Goshen and turned onto his knees so that he could stretch out over the water and snatch the bobbing object up in his grasp.

https://i.imgur.com/g18OZHr.png

“Oh my gosh it’s an Easter egg!” Ed exclaimed with delight. Swiveling around, he planted his rear back on the ledge and worked on peeling away the protective clear plastic wrap. “Look, Goshen, look! I found an Easter egg! It’s gold! It’s so perfect! Look at it!” He thrust the item right up under Goshen’s nose, which did little to help him see it clearly. The older boy leaned back with a laugh.

“Yes, I can see that,” said Goshen, humorously.

Bouncing on his seat, beyond excited, Ed fiddled with the egg some more, discovering with a gleeful gasp that it had a hinged lid. “Oh my gosh look! It opens! And oh my gosh there’s something inside!”

Turning the egg over, he dumped ten shiny gems into the palm of his hand. They were of various colors and shapes, and smelled suspiciously sweet. Ed’s nose twitched. He leaned over his palm for a more exploratory sniff and then sat back bolt upright with yet another elated gasp. “Goshen,” he exclaimed, “I think it’s candy!” And without any amount of hesitation he plucked up his favorite color (green) and popped it into his mouth.

https://i.imgur.com/RP7dTNh.jpg

Goshen did try to warn him to be cautious, but the words fell short and it was far too late. He sighed, smiling fondly, as he watched his boyfriend chew. But then the strangest thing happened.

Ed had just expressed a satisfied hum of noise and swallowed his bite of candy when a puff of smoke enveloped him. Within the cloud there was a shocked squeak. Coughing, Goshen waved the smoke away with his hand. Once the air cleared, he discovered that his boyfriend was no longer sitting next to him. Instead, there on the ledge, sat an adorable, green, super fluffy cloud bunny that was just big enough to fit in the palm of his hand.

“Oh dear,” said Goshen, scooping up the lighter than air little flufkins. “This is new. I thought you turned into a rat.”

The green cloud of fluff looked at him with wide, wet eyes and squeaked dolefully. Often Goshen claimed he wasn’t very good at reading people. Perhaps he had more of an affinity for animals, because he did not seem to have much trouble figuring out that Ed was distressed, that this was not normal. Magic was, obviously, afoot.

“Don’t worry,” Goshen told him, stroking a fingertip along the crown of his little, cottony soft head. “I’ve got you.” He tucked the tiny air bunny onto his shoulder, and immediately the miniaturized Ed-bunny nuzzled under his ear. It tickled, and was cute as heck, which was probably why Goshen laughed. He collected the other candies that had dropped when Ed had transformed and scooped them back into the egg, knowing his boyfriend would not be happy, despite the circumstances, to have his treasure left behind.

That night, Goshen took the Ed-bunny home, turned on Ed’s favorite movie, and snuggled him to sleep.

—-

The next day, at about the exact same time, Ed miraculously transformed back into himself. He babbled incessantly about the awkwardness of the experience, citing that he never wanted to do that ever again. But then he got the most glorious, most mischievous idea.

—-

On Sunday, after they had had everyone’s help moving Goshen into his new apartment, Ed left the candies sitting on the kitchen counter of the second floor apartment at Old Temple West, amid a collection of other Easter treats. One by one, his cousins helped themselves, and one by one the lot of them suffered similar effects. A few transformed into red, or yellow, or blue super fluffy cloud bunnies. Others still had less drastic changes occur to them. Jameson’s hair turned pink and Olive’s skin turned green. Auntie Sizzle wound up with a purple nose. There were shrieks of horror and laughter, and somewhere outside Ed himself giggled maniacally at the prank he had pulled.

“Happy Easter Fool’s!” he shouted. Moments later he was seen shrieking and cackling as he ran down the street, chased by the man with pink hair who was threatening to drown him in a vat of booze. Fortunately he lost him somewhere over the border between Dockside and Old Temple, and found refuge in his own workshop in Kabuki Street, where he shared the hilarious story with Noodle, who likewise got a good laugh hearing about how Jack’s ears had turned highlighter yellow.
