The Governor's Yule Ball will be held on Saturday, 14 December, beginning at 9PM by the Eastern Clock at the Rhydin Observatory Complex and Botanical Garden. As this event will also mark the official grand opening of the complex and garden, there will be a brief dedication of the facilities to begin the festivities. Hosts for the Ball will be Harker and Hall Architecture Ltd. and the MacLeod Foundation.

The ROCBG is located behind the Administration Building of Ravensheart Academy, who donated the land to the city of Rhydin.

Setting - Outdoors

Indoor dining will be available, however, arrangements have been made to keep the observatory's patio area at an ambient temperature for those that wish to enjoy the garden view.

A parking area with security personnel is available near the complex for guests to leave their personal vehicles. Transportation, via horse-drawn sleighs, to the Ball and around the grounds will be provided.

Placed near the library entrance doors is a sleigh to collect donations of toys and clothing for various children's organizations in the city.

The Botanical Garden's ducks and swans are currently in winter quarters. Weather permitting, the ponds will be available for ice skating.

On the grounds of the Botanical Garden is a gazebo that can be used for weddings and other special events. Anyone wanting to use the venue or arrange a ceremony during the ball is welcome to do so.

Since this is primarily an adult oriented event, the children's carousel will be closed.

Indoor Setting - Dancing

The open performance area on the main floor of the observatory has been set up as the dance floor for the evening. Blue lighting effects and white fairy lights simulate a winter night's sky.

The bar is located at one end of the dance floor. The DJ booth is set up at the other. A yule tree is featured along with one package for each guest. Mistletoe has been hung along the ceiling, it will move about throughout the night.

Indoor Setting - Dining

The cafe on the main floor of the observatory has been set up for formal dining in a white winter theme. The cafe has easy access to both the dance floor and outdoor activities.

All glassware is provided by Shining Star Glassworks; Ciarth Whitemane, proprietor. Table linens are provided by GrangerGuild; Caroline Granger CEO.

Entertainment for the evening will be provided by DJ Yigard from Tigarian Entertainment.

Spring water will be available near the buffet for those that wish a palate cleanser between courses. Various condiments such as dipping sauces and salad dressings are on the buffet table in individual servings. Larger bottles are located at the tables. Peanuts and other garnishes are available.
