Gunsmoke and Ashes
The dead have inherited the earth. Cut off from the Nexus, the rest of the universe and the source of all magic, it was only a matter of time before the plague spread and the undead outnumbered the living. The city of Rhy'Din is but a smoldering ruin now, a desolate testament to the men and women who died trying to protect it from the hordes. But that all happened, oh, so very long ago, before the Duel of Guns.
These days, a tiny fraction of survivors still fight for their lives. Deep below the city, in a maze of tunnels carved by hand and desperation, lies Dust Town. Ruled by the self-entitled Rhy'Din Defense League, Dust Town has become the largest community left on the planet over the past ten years. Death is still common there, as well hidden and defended as it is, but a steady influx of refugees helps to sustain what just might be the last bastion of hope for the living in a world that has gone to Hell.
To encourage that hope (or possibly to placate its impovershed citizens), the RDL has recently fortified the old Red Dragon Inn and connected it to Dust Town below by way of manual lift. The elite live in the Inn, while the poor die far below. However, three weeks ago, the RDL re-opened the old Arena, renaming it "The Battleground". Every week, citizens take the lift up to the Battleground, where they enjoy free food (steaming rat-stew, usually) and reasonably priced drinks (glasses of rotgut moonshine for the price of one hour added to your work contract). In the Battleground, the bravest (or most wreckless) square off against each other in the Duel of Guns. Some do it for glory, some do it for bloodthirst, and others do it for food and promises of a better life for themselves and their loved ones - should they become successful.

Duel of Guns, the live-play setting for Gunsmoke and Ashes, takes place every Wednesday, from 9:30pm - 1:30am in the Rings of Honor "Battlefield Park" chatroom.
