Date: Sunday, May 4th
Time: 8:00pm
Location: Old Market
A little section of Old Market commonly referred to as Little Elfhame is at the heart of the Street Festival this evening. Lights are strung across the streets and city squares from building to building and around the flowering trees, lighting up the night. http://www.sivalinc.com/ProductImages/outdoor-string-lights-300.jpg
The large square in this section of the Market has several low stages set up for the use of bards, storytellers, and other entertainers. Rising above the low stages is a dais"its back against the river'set up with two thrones made of hawthorn. Criss-crossing over the dais are more bare-bulb lights, intermixed with flowers, their reflection dancing on the quick moving water below. There is plenty of room for dancing in the midst of the square in addition to another bonfire, lit from the original flame on Friday night. http://www.save.ca/community/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/iStock_000020680285Small.jpghttp://www.fortworthbride.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/hanging-bulbs-for-wedding.png
Down one street leading away from the square, many temporary tables, outdoor kitchens and booths have been set up for selling any type of food and drink a person could possibly desire: baked nuts, funnel cake, cotton candy, shish kabobs, pies, large turkey legs, ice cream, candy, beer, ale, wine, and hard liquors from across the multi-verse. On the other side of the street are vendors selling crafts especially made for the occasion: masks, flower wreaths, jewelry, toys, noise makers, clothing, etc.
Moving down another route, temporary booths have been set up for a variety of games, many with prizes: a dunking booth, several games of knocking pins over, archery, a small shooting gallery, whack-a-dragon, arm wrestling, a kissing booth! Along this lane, several places are hosting contests as well: pie eating, drinking, singing, dancing.
Following either street to its end brings merry-makers to an adjoining square, similarly decorated to that presided over by the May Queen, where rings have been set up for Fight Night. Lights dangle above the roped-off rings and sand has been scattered on the ground for the protection of the fighters. Wooden bleachers and small tables are spread around the rings for those who want to enjoy the food from the festival while observing the different duels.
There are many entertainers traveling through the streets and squares: dancing troops, fire-eaters, jugglers, clowns, etc. In addition, there seem to be quite a lot of Fae-folk out and about including brownies, pixies, pookas, satyrs, fauns, dryads, and will-o?-the-wisps amongst others.
((Please post to this thread if your character will be running a booth at the Street Festival. You do not have to be in attendance for your character to have a booth there.
The Street Festival will take place in the RDI Marketplace room. The dueling for Fight Night will be taking place in the RDI Annex room during the Street Festival, but the setting will be at the Street Festival))
