Sky Gazing Party!!
Date: Saturday, August 12th Time: 9:00pm RST (EST) Location: Southern Glen
Setting
The Rennec Observatory will be hosting a sky watching party including some brief education (vapored) about the stars, planets, and other heavenly bodies that can be observed in the RhyDin sky. The highlight of the evening will be the passing of a large meteoroid.
http://i.imgur.com/haz1bCU.jpg A couple long, low tables are set up on top of large rugs with some floor pillows to people to lounge and eat while they watch the stars shooting above.
Lights are kept to a minimum to allow for maximum visibility of the sky, but strings of light help illuminate the viewing area and the path to it.
More rugs and pillows are spread out away from the party tables for those who want more darkness.

Equipment

One large telescope is available, powerful enough to get a fairly clear look at the passing meteors. It will be managed by Rennec Observatory assistant, Lucas (NPC) who will help folks who want an up close look.

Fancy, but not nearly as powerful, three of these telescopes will be set up for people to use independently. They are fixed at the perfect angle to see the sky, but can be pivoted around.
Also available will be high powered night binoculars. About the same power as the smaller telescopes, they are a little more tricky to use.
Star Guide
There are star maps available for people to look at, with some information about some of Rhy'Din's constellations. It's important to note that these are just as Kyrian learned them, but others may know them differently (Descriptions pulled from here and slightly modified.)
Made up of ten stars, the constellation called Manta roughly resembles the shape of a castle. It can be seen most prominently high above the Southeastern horizon in the middle of summer. In an ancient society, this constellation was seen as the representation of the god of wind, which is how it received the name still used today.
In astrology, this constellation bears the sign of stories, those born under it are believed to be intelligent.

Made up of eight stars, the constellation called Echinoidea roughly resembles the shape of a gem. It can be seen most prominently high above the Southwestern horizon during summer. In an ancient society, this constellation was seen as the representation of the god of success, which is how it received the name still used today.
In astrology, this constellation bears the sign of the rivers, those born under it are believed to be humble.
—
Made up of seven stars, the constellation called Hylobatidae roughly resembles the shape of a swan. It can be seen most prominently high in the Northwestern sky just before the winter solstice. In an ancient society, this constellation was seen as the representation of the god of justice, which is how it received the name still used today.
In astrology, this constellation bears the sign of maps, those born under it are believed to be in balance with nature.
