A GOLDEN GALA — OCTOBER 20, 2018 at 9 PM EST

According to legend, Trebor and Arabrab are the spirits of lovers whose passion for one another outshone even the brightest star. Forced to look upon them day after day, and jealous of their ardent, unmistakable bond, the Sun bargained with a faerie prince, trading his chariot for a single wish: for Arabrab to join him in the heavens. A devious, cunning trickster, the faerie prince fulfilled his bargain to the Sun's detriment by placing Arabrab opposite him in the sky, that he might never look upon her again. When Trebor learned what had happened, he was so sad that he displayed fruits and cakes and gave sacrifices to his lover until his dying day. Moved by his unwavering love and devotion, the faerie prince bargained with Trebor for the last day of his mortal life, trading it for an eternity in the heavens near Arabrab. Once a month their orbits align, bringing them close to one another, both moons full and bright with the light of their everlasting love.

Today, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest celebration that focuses on the spirit of gratitude, celebrated to mark the end of the harvest season. It is a time to recognize and give thanks for nature's abundance; when family and friends come together in joyous reunion with their loved ones to make offerings in honor of the twin moons, symbols of harmony and unity. In addition to offerings, other traditions have been adopted throughout the years that include burning incense in reverence to deities, performance of dragon and lion dances, and the putting of colorful lanterns on rivers to welcome the souls of ancestors believed to be visiting the living.

The Gilded Quay invites you to celebrate the harvest in spectacular fashion at their annual black tie affair: A Golden Gala. This year's exquisite event is located on the waterfront where guests begin the evening with a cocktail reception on the mezzanine, followed by a three-course gourmet dinner served in the galleria tent. Beginning at 9 PM, party guests may enjoy an open bar, light fare in a variety of savory and sweet moon cakes, and dancing to live music from The West End Symphony ORChestra on a dazzling, golden mirrored dance floor.

Throughout the evening, the nearby waterfront will bear witness to dozens of scintillating parade float lanterns as they make their way down the river. Small, paper lanterns will be made available should guests wish to add to the display.

Every guest will receive a complimentary gift bag on the way out, along with a tin of our signature gold dust mooncakes as an offering to you, our friends, during this celebration of abundance. In addition, The Gilded Quay has hidden five golden eggs around the venue. Guests lucky enough to find one will receive a door prize from a pool of graciously donated gifts from local Rhydin businesses.

August arrives in the company of his beautiful, vivacious wife, Sarah. Though he can be seen taking her for a spin or two on the dance floor, August prefers the sideline and comfort of table conversation, happily watching on as his wife finds other (more enthusiastic) dance partners. Before the night is through, the couple make their way riverside to set a lantern of their own afloat with all the others.

Thanks to Mai, Penny discovered that there were dresses that people actually rented. Or was it leased? In the end, the Wizard just hoped that nothing went wrong like the last time when she wore a fancy gown. At least this time, Patrick would get a chance to see her in it first.

Thank the Kami for stylists. Richa Banerjee, master artist, was more than happy to help Patrick look his best — because his fashion sense was admittedly terrible. Simone offered to tame his hair now that it had grown back out, but Trick decided to leave it sans product so Penny wouldn't be able to keep her hands out of it.

Jewell arrived on the arm of someone who looked nice in a suit, smiled, fetched her drinks, made excellent small-talk, and complimented her coloring and dress perfectly. All the same, the Empress was not at all disinclined to leave him behind to schmooze and dance with others throughout the night.

Unable to resist an opportunity to dress up pretty and hang on the arm of the most handsome man in the entire universe, Ed Smith cleaned himself up nice and attended the gala in the company of Goshen. He put on a pair of black slacks and a black button down shirt to pair with the sparkly and shimmery accoutrements that his boyfriend had happily bought for him. Of course this was likely to make him stand out in the crowd, but he liked it that way. Especially this night, because it meant that he got to boast over and over again about the wonderful news of his engagement! That's right! He and Goshen are now engaged to be married!

They danced. They dined. They mingled with the crowds and chatted the night away, meeting up with old friends as well as making new ones, because Ed has a super power that way. They marveled at the paper lantern parade and even added a couple of their own to the mix. One to commemorate their engagement. One to celebrate the birth of young Gary Dean only a couple days prior. They stayed long into the wee hours of the morning, unwilling to quit celebrating until they were too exhausted to go on and everybody else had gone home as well. In fact, they watched the sunrise together, for extra romantic effect.

Compared to his date, Goshen's attire is fairly understated. He's never had a problem letting Ed shine his brightest. In fact, he rather enjoyed every chance he got to show him off.

Tahlia had left it to Eddie to arrange transportation, and her delighted laughter as it arrived might have been a hint that she'd expected nothing less. It wasn't a traditional limo - but then, nothing about the couple inside seemed terribly traditional either. As the sleek stretch muscle car pulled up, the doors swept upward, allowing the giant Selkie to exit first, and reach back for the petite blonde, dressed to the evening's theme in a sparkling gold gown, decorated with sprays of purple flowers on the bodice, and skirt. Her hair was loosely twisted at the nape of her neck, but she'd left the jewelry home that night, letting the dress sparkle on its own. It was her first outing as the new owner of the Golden Bough (currently under construction), as well as a few other properties and interests she'd "inherited" from Samuel Adder, and she'd wanted to make sure they made an impression. Rising on tiptoe, she brushed a kiss to Eddie's cheek - once again, he hadn't let her down.

Eddie had considered the stretch Escalade, he'd perused the elongated Humvee too. They're not bad ways to go if you're the ordinary upper class, or the extraordinary backwoods West Virginia hillbilly who struck it rich. He was pretty sure he was neither of those things. Fast and sleek, that was a fair description of Tahlia and himself though which order and for whom was up in the air. He had even for a moment thought about a stretch Smart car....because that certainly wasn't ordinary or vaguely trucklike. Problem was it was the size of a normal car, and if he was going to drive one of those it would be his own. This was a party, and not the kind you drive yourself to. The choice was obvious, because even them Dukes down Hazard way knew that American Muscle rocks.

He stepped out of the car decked out in a grey vested suit, with just the bit of purple doing its best to strangle him in the form of a tie. He had to keep stopping himself from touching his hair for fear of wrecking whatever they'd done to keep his bangs back. They'd offered to cut them, he'd offered to break important thing, they'd compromised. Eddie took Tahlia's hand to help her from the vehicle. He'd watched the other cars do the same thing, maybe it was expected? Sliding her hand to his elbow after her kiss he walked the gauntlet with Tahlia to the door, leaning in to speak so that only she could hear. "You're outfit seems to be missing something." He let her ponder the state of her dress for a few moments before taking her free hand and sliding a ring onto her finger. This was the gold gala....or some such thing, right' It was gold too....in keeping with the theme, though it had three sapphires on it, one emerald cut purple centered between two oval cuts outlined by diamonds.

"Missing somethi-" Her voice cut out as she felt the cool touch of metal around her finger - and tried not to gape up at him in the middle of the entrance. For a moment, her arm stretched as she slowed, and Eddie kept going, only to quickstep to catch up to him. Twisting her wrist, she looked at the glittering stones, and then up at the cockily smirking Selkie. "We are so talking about this when we get home..."

"I'll talk about it right now." Eddie was more than happy to keep that grin on his face, and stop in the middle of everything. It wasn't like he was big enough to block the entire entrance. "But maybe you just listen to what?s being asked, because the ring is the question and wearing it doesn't automatically mean yes or no. Lucy arrived solo, and she expected to be without escort for the evening. She arrived fashionably late (if only to cut down on the amount of time she would have to mingle by herself during cocktail hour), before enjoying conversation over dinner with her tablemates. By the time the dancing began, she had spotted some friends to enjoy the remainder of the evening with.

Of course Madam Governor Elect would show up on the arm of her ever handsome and debonair husband, Jack. Together, they spun from dance to dance, stopped to chat with those poor souls Pharlen recognized....or thought that she recognized....

Politics? Perish the thought. She was all about discussing the days of yore when the lover moons had many more adventures than could be accounted for by one beautiful celebration. Pharlen was Story Telling for any who wanted to follow the bouncing golden ball of her words threading along here and there, and sometimes through the music and other times around it.

Just no one tell her she was just showing her age, and enjoy the tales!

It had been some time since Darcy had been out to well any event. So why not this one? Deciding to dress down yet still dress for the occasion Darcy would arrive as thus with her husband on her arm. Poor Harry better have gotten enough rest as they would spend the night laughing, dancing, and enjoying all that the Gala had to offer.

Elessaria would drag herself away from her work at ~Heart Notes~ to attend the Gala. The Empath would mingle with those she knew and even those she did not. In between sampling the various drink offerings and nibbling on some "finger foods", she would take her turn on the dance floor as often as she could recruit a partner. When the event wound down for the night, she'd enjoy discovering the contents of the Swag Bag == especially the tea and the chocolates.

Zagan showed, but for the most part kept to the fringes of things, and out of the way of most people. He trailed after a certain doll from a distance, a smug smirk mostly twisted his mouth for the night.

It shouldn't be a surprise either that he came dressed in a well fitted suit, with unruly blond locks slicked back and tamed.

He stayed just long enough to be unnerving, before he simply disappeared in the night, not a single bit of trouble stirred.

Roni showed earlier, but actually took a while before she actually worked her way to thick of the gala. She looked tired, but there was a defiant tilt of her head as she flounced around in the gorgeous lilac purple gown she had bout on a whim after deciding that it was best interests for her to actually go.

Along with that, she wore what looked like a simple gold ring on her left hand ring finger, and a choker made of silver, with a small turquoise that sat nestled against the center of her throat.
