The RhyDin Meteorological Society has issued a blizzard warning for the city of RhyDin and surrounding areas lasting into Sunday (January 24th) afternoon.

R.M.S. warns citizens to prepare for: *Snow accumulating between 1cm and 4 feet *High winds *White out conditions *Possible ice accumulation *Power outages for those who rely on electrical energy *Dangerously low temperatures, especially over night

Please prepare accordingly and check back regularly for updates.

((This is just a spur of the moment idea based on the impending snowstorm on the east coast. I will post some updates here.

There is an EPIC all-day, snowball fight going on in the Marketplace today. Despite the blizzard winds and occasional white out conditions, people of all ages have been enjoying the snow Winter Storm Odin is dropping on the area.

Storm News from Old Temple District

This morning finds firefighters and emergency personnel doing their best to help residents dig out from Storm Odin, which is forecast to dump over three feet of snow in some parts of Old Temple before it's finished.

Residents are advised to do no unnecessary traveling, and to stay home and stay warm. Emergency shelters have been set up in the Old Temple Fire Stations for those who are displaced, stuck, or homeless. Those in need of emergency services should call their local dispatcher for help.

People are reminded to take all necessary safety precautions and to follow these blizzard safety tips if you are trapped in the storm: At Home or in a Building:

1. Stay inside

2. Close off unneeded rooms to save heat

3. Stuff towels or rags in cracks underneath doors to conserve heat

4. Cover the windows at night

5. Eat and drink to prevent dehydration

6. Wear layers of loose-fitting, light-weight and warm clothing

If Caught Outside:

1. Find a dry shelter immediately

2. Cover all exposed body parts

If Caught Outdoors Without Shelter:

1. Prepare a lean-to, wind break, or snow-cave for protection against the wind

2. Build a fire for heat and attention purposes

3. Place rocks around the fire to absorb and reflect the heat

4. Do not eat snow straight off the ground, melt it first. If Stranded in a Vehicle:

1. Stay inside your vehicle

2. Run the motor for ten minutes each hour

3. Crack the windows to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning

4. Make sure the exhaust pipe is not blocked

5. Tie a colored cloth to your antenna or door

6. Raise the hood after the snow stops falling

7. Exercise to keep warm and keep your blood flowing

Be smart and be safe! And if you need help, don't hesitate to call on your local fire brigade or Watch unit for help.

The Seaside Baronial Manor has been opened to the public to accommodate those in Seaside who may be without shelter or without power. A team of owlbears are also available for those who may need assistance in digging out. Simply fly an article of purple or green from the building's highest window to signal for help. The Seaside Baronial Manor grounds are remarkably snow free though the Baroness of Seaside is seeking those who might be kind enough to build snowpeople around the perimeter of the property. Accessories for said snowpeople (hats, scarves, and carrots galore) are on hand. All who assist are offered hot beverages, brownies (not made of real Brownies, in case any fair folk may be concerned), and honey.

While most of the snow has stopped, the cleanup efforts have just begun.

Along with Kirost Enterprises, RhyDin's youth have taken to the streets with their shovels to help with snow removal (at a price!). In addition, mages and magic users of different calibers have also been offering their services all over the city.

When questioned by RhyDin News Outlet, Sideways Sammy, a well-known wizard in Old Market, refused to say just where the snow he was removing actually went. "It's just gone, alright' That's all that matters."

In other news, many citizens have been flocking to what is known as Devil's Hill. Situated near the cemetery, Devil's Hill is one of the best sledding spots in the area. Unfortunately, there are rumors that an Unseelie Court exists beneath the hill and several children go missing from the area every winter.

Although the snow has stopped falling there is a snowman contest of sorts going on in Dragon's Gate Rambling Greenway Park.

There are no judges, no prizes, just a bunch of people gathered together to make snowmen or admire the creations of others.

Correction: The Citizens for Equal Labeling have insisted this be called a Snow-Creature Contest!

Ebon had turned the Town Hall main meeting room into a warming spot as the snow came down, where anyone who had to venture out into the storm could grab spiced apple cider, mulled wine, hot chocolate, or a bowl of warm soup to get the heat back into their bodies. Meanwhile, he spent the duration of Winter Storm Odin airlifting supplies to those who were trapped at home behind a few feet of snow.

After the snowfall tapered off and the cleanup began, Ebon concentrated on digging out the more tightly-packed neighborhoods where narrow side streets and alleys made it difficult for the plows to reach.

Meanwhile, the Ilnaren children and friends decided to join in the array of snowmen.

It was a veritable winter wonderland that Gaines came upon filled with exciting sledding down Devil's Hill, some deep conversations with a spirited but alright seeming Unseelie fey over a gravestone, an impromtu snowball fight with some children at the Dragon's Gate Rambling Greenway Park, and an odd sort of snow sculpture inspired by a few dodged snowballs:
