December 15th, 8pm ET, (in the glen) come join in the decorating fun. A field of trimmed trees will be waiting. Adopted a tree and decorated it for all to see. There will be boxes upon boxes of ornaments to use! Or bring your own from home!

For each tree adopted, a set amount of money will go to fund a Christmas dinner for several places in the city. This including dinners for hospitals, clinics, shelters, orphanages, fire stations, and many, many more. If you have any place you would like to add to receive a dinner or would like to aid in providing these dinners with a donation please contact Katt Batten.

There will be from scratch hot chocolate, sweet treats, and possibly snowball fights! So come prepared and dressed warm!

A tree will be picked out and crowned with a special star and the one(s) who decorated it will receive a special surprise. Oh what could it be?

Everyone who participates will receive a hoarfrost white ornament with their name inscribed on it.

What is Christmas without the shiny, sometimes blinking, colorful lights" Get out the lights, get out the music, decorate the house and yard! Let us make the city sparkle!

Folks who decorate will be added to a list of places for people to enjoy. Like a parade the people come to rather than it just breeze by them. Hot chocolate will be provided for those who wish to walk the path and enjoy the lights.

(Festival of Lights is a boards only event and is simply a little thing to play with. Feel free to post in this thread your character decorating a place/space/etc for other people to enjoy! Or maybe your character is enjoying walking the streets and watching the lights. Have fun with it! This thread can also be used for any Adopt A Tree posts and/or decorated tree. Adopt a Tree will be a live event on Dec 15th hosted in the glen)

Adopt a Tree Katt made sure to come with plenty of this and thats to share. Ornaments, tinsel...well you name it she probably had it! Along with the boxes of decorating goodies, she also brought along a large pot of fresh hot chocolate for drinking (with all the fixings of course), along with tasty finger nabbing pastries such as cookies, brownies, and baklava. There even seemed to be a few beignets in case anyone was interested.

Etching tool in hand she was ready for anyone who wanted their ornament engraved. Closeby was a snowball waiting to find someone's head. Never know who she might have to get revenge on.

This counted as a third, or maybe fourth, date with Trick. They came for the cocoa, and to throw snowballs at each other while decorating a tree, if they could get away with it without having to spend any money. Mostly they haphazardly flung things on a tree, too busy giggling to turn it into anything spectacular. The important part was that they had fun. In the end, their work wasn't half bad either.

Mist Gul

Still rather vague on the entire Christmas concept, Mist focused on the entire shiny and sparkly bits. As usual, he was cloaked in dark wool, a tunic of gray and trousers, quiet and unassuming. He headed for the trees, and watched for a while to see what everyone else was making of them. Finally, he found a likely pine to adopt, and found ornaments.

A mage, though, so, he couldn't leave well enough alone. Soon enough he was humorously casting small cantrips on the large collection of cheesy clip-on feather birds and butterflies that he'd collected.

Wings opened and closed, birds fluttered here and there, butterflies floated and glimmered. He picked up a silvery tinsel-spider and set it to 'work'. Rather than to sit near the top of the tree, the plastic ornament wove all around the tree, leaving spectral tinsel that glimmered bright silver, renewing itself each time the spider had completely webbed the tree.

He tried to make sure Antonia wasn't watching. He was quite certain that the woman had a net big enough to scoop him up with, and he really did not want to live in whatever elf-terrarium Antonia had created.

Victor, Shy, and the children decorated their chosen evergreen with fairy lights, small white candles, and handmade ornaments. Clearly displaying a Norwegian theme:

Nayun Takamine

Festival of Lights

"Do you have any romantic plans this evening?"

"Romantic plans" A light dinner and rest. If Lisa wishes, I will comb her hair before bed." Nayun responded to the girl scrubbing her back. The light of early morning creeping through the window of the bathroom. It made for something to stare at. "There is much training to be done today."

The two handmaidens looked to each other with a deadpanned expression. "No, no...Teacher, it's December. You cannot just stay in the embassy all winter! You must take Ms. Takamine out!"

"We will be hunting soon." Nayun replied.

"...Yes, and we know how much Ms. Takamine and you love to hunt, Teacher, but...There are so many sights to see in the city! Did you not hear of the festival of lights" Wouldn't that be romantic to see together?"

"So very romantic." The second girl sighed. "To hold hands while looking at so many pretty lights...and there's mistletoe!" - "mistletoe!" both said the last word in unison while squealing in delight.

"What of it?" Nayun looked over her shoulder toward the both of them.

"...Well, um...you see." - "...Ah, 'erm...Kissing." "Under...the mistletoe.." - "it's a thing....you see. A custom..?" "Yes, a custom.." They nodded to one another.

"You should get out more, Teacher...We've been here for years, this is all common knowledge."

Nayun stared at the two for a few passing, and rather awkward, seconds. Christmas tradition introduced by the Liltu people when they began mingling with the Adenna population. Santa, mistletoe, and other such things hadn't translated into the culture. Gift giving and family had. She continued to ponder this but the expectant looks from her handmaidens drew her back into the present. She then blinked. "I see. Where do I get this mistletoe?"

"Oh! I, uh...we! We will get some for you!"

Nayun thought it over. "And what do I do with it?"

This took a few minutes of huddled whispers from the handmaidens. Nayun sat there in the bath patently. They were rather good council on these subjects, so waiting was not an issue.

"Okay. When you're looking at one of the pretty places with lights, one where Ms. Takamine can't take her eyes off it...you take out the mistletoe and hold it over her head...and then,"

Nayun continued to stare.

"...Kissing." The girls now blushing and trying her best to hide it with her hands. This blush must have been contagious since the other handmaiden had been growing red as well. Much giggling followed.

Nayun took this plan into consideration while nodding. At this stage in our relationship I assume this course of action was more than suitable. These two were correct many a time, so their judgement outweighed her own. That was her decision. "I see. I will speak to Lisa then. Please see to preparing the mistletoe."

****

The night proved to be rather interesting to the Adennian. Nayun's eyes focused much of what the Rhydin populous had to offer with their creativity. Much of her time, as always, had been spent quietly following beside Lisa. When prompted to speak, it had been in the normal monotone with very few words attached to it. She did, however, take Lisa's hand to hold. It seemed she had grown past the need to preface this with a question of if the woman had been wanting to do so.

Biding her time to wait for a moment her handmaidens had spoken about. It had been toward the end of the night when they ventured into New Haven that the plan had set into motion. Nayun reached into her pocket to pull free the pre-purchased mistletoe and held it as high as her arm could stretch.

"Mistletoe." The monotone came with a rather serious look.
