Aaaand there. Kain put the finishing touches on his handiwork near the church. Already the fire inside was beginning to consume the building, while the five monks were staked outside....Staked and more. Each one had been impaled on two lances which were anchored to the ground, their bellies and chests torn open. Despite their wounds however, they continued to scream, sob, or moan in suffering. Kain say on a lawn-chair, sipping a glass of wine and waiting...

It's his first night going solo since coming back from his re-training, and it's already proving to be an interesting one. He wasn't far away when he got the alert, and it took him only a minute - perhaps less - to reach the scene. The screech of thrusters announces his arrival as he descends out of the sky, hitting the ground near the monks. Glowing blades extend from his gauntlets and he takes a swipe at one of the lances, for the moment all but ignoring the wine-sipping sicko watching the chaos.

"What do you think of my decorations?" Kain drained the wine as he sat there, not bothering to interfere for the moment. The monk that was freed whimpered and pleaded to stop the pain, even as his innards spilled onto the ground when his weight was released.

"The watch has been called and informed of your condition. Help is coming." The computer-filtered voice speaks to the monk as he catches and lowers the grievously injured man to the ground as gently as possible before he goes to move on to the next. Kain's question brings him up short in the process, and he turns his attention towards him, a hand coming up to level at him. "You did this?"

At that, Kain's grin grew sinister. He nodded slowly as he stood from the chair, "Of course. Their hypocracy called to me, so I rewarded them for their efforts. I gave them immortality."

He moves slower now, the hand and arm leveled at Kain unwavering as he steps to the next in line. A slash and the lance is freed from its anchor and he catches the monk with one had, lowiring him to the ground as well. Immortality or not, he knows enough to realize that remiving an impaling object from a body is a bad idea. "The Watch is on its way. Stay where you are - I'd rather not have to kill you, but for this I'm sure no one would complain."

That grin stays on his lips as he raises his hands. This one was unlike the other armoured ones, he was more like a cop than a soldier, or he would have fired first and sorted out the pieces later. "Oh you're going to be fun....Oh, here comes the Watch now." The first on the scene were three officers, one of which who took a look around and promptly retched in the street. Without warning Kain moved, his outline blurring from the speed. The madman grabbed the officer by the back of the neck, lifted the poor man into the air, and slammed 'something' into the back of his neck. Even as the man screamed and his companions drew their sidearms, Kain spun about, holding the man up like a shield. "Your move hero!"

His reaction is nearly instant enough to be instinctive, though there is a slight amount of hesitation that shows a t least a little inexperience. A leap upwards carries him into the air as the thrusters in his suit light off and he flies in a path to take him directly over Kain and his human shield, and just as he is passing overhead his hand opens, a flaring of light seen in his palm and a dsitinctive whine heard as he fires - not at Kain himself, but into the ground directly behind him, a charged stream of ionic particles into the stones, pouring energy into the ground with such intensity that it almost instantly glows white-hot. A split second later the stone explodes, sending a shower of molten rock upwards in a cone right at Kain's back.

Kain's eyes and head track the armoured one's movements, his grin growing manic as he starts laughing. His laughter continues even as the rock behind him explodes, causing his body to jerk and shudder from the impact. Kain goes down to one knee, his back sizzling with fragments of molten rock embedded here and there. The madman lets the screaming Watch officer go, who clutches his head and staggers forwards. Kain looks up, and draws a long blade from seeming mid-air. The weapon suddenly sails forwards, puncturing the officer through the chest and send him flying back, stapled to a nearby wall. The victim slumps over, limp. Kain cackles madly as he watches the corpse, looking to Spartan above, "Oh look, another decoration. I wonder how long before he wakes up?"

The thrusters cut off as the crimson-and-gold figure turns a forward roll in midair, bringing himself head-first to Kain as the thrusters light off again, his hands coming up over his head as he dives right at the madman with some serious speed, a clear ramming maneuver. There's not much to be done for the man impaled by the sword at this moment, unfortunately, so he puts that off for later.

The impact is severe. Several distinct crunches can be heard as shoulder, hip, and spine snap as Spartan's armoured form smashes into the paving stones. Blood splashes the ground and bones puncture his skin in multiple places, yet still he laughs, as if the pain was somehow amusing...

The instant before he crashes into Kain he cuts power to the thrusters, and as he crushes the madman he rolls forward again over Kain's body, coming up to his feet again and turning around with fluid ease, reaching down to pick the madman up by an arm. Another turn and he goes to heave the madman right at the burning church, aiming for a window. "Laugh at this, @sshole."

"That's more like it! Heeeheeehhee!" The body goes sailing towards the church, but suddenly halts in mid-air. Another series of snaps and pops, as bones are pulled in through the wounds, resetting and knitting in seconds. As he floats there, Kain rotates to face Spartan. "You want to kill me don't you?" Two more swords are pulled out of the air, their blades flaring to burning life as the plasma fields ignite. With a flick of his finger, both swords are sent sailing at speeds that would make a sniper rifle blush.

Well that was unexpected - the wounds healing the way they did, not to mention the plasma-enveloped swords. He manages to twist his way out of the way of the first one, turning himself sideways, and even as he's doing so the other finds its mark in his shoulder plate, managing to puncture the armor just enough to find the micro-rocket launchers beneath. There's a violent explosion that throws the armored figure sideways to plow into a wall hard enough to make it bow inwards with the weight of impact, the sowrd thrown the opposite direction. The armor at that section looks irreparably damaged, a twisted, fragmented, blackened piece of metal where a fully sculpted plate used to be. Fortunately there's another layer under it that looks to be slightly melted, but otherwise is unharmed.

Kain touches down to the ground as Spartan hits the wall. "Remember this night Hero. Remember how you couldn't save anyone....Much less stop me." More of those inhumanly fast movements, and two objects sail out from his hands, striking the other two Watch officers in the chest and throat. The objects quickly burrowing into their bodies as Kain simply vanishes. Within less than five minutes, all three officers are conscious, and in various states of pain. Even the man impaled on the wall is awake and aware, as if his body simply refused to die...

He manages to get to his feet, damaged but mostly uninjured, if you don't count his pride, a moment after Kain vanishes. Looking around at the tortured members of the Watch and the monks, he once again calls for the Watch and medical services. He's only there long enough to hear sirens and indications of help approaching before he takes off into the night.
