~ Meridus left the inn that night amused and with new knowledge, the new knowledge was that not all of the Ravenlocks seemed to be honorable people....the amusement' Cirbourne's new weapon.....interesting things were popping up all over realms now-a-days.
The two sat atop their favorite mountain summit to watch the sunrise, they always watched the sunrise together. "What do you think of the Asgardian joining the dragon hands" " " He..seems an honorable if misguided man.....with some training I am sure he will make a fine Dragon Knight and Flare still needs a mount, her last died in a rather bad accident...." "Did she" What happened to her?" "Flare got hungry....and Rayna decided to call her an overgrown lizard..." "Ahhh yes.....those accidents happen alot don't they?" Chuckling some as the burning orb rose to meet the two, the sun hitting them like this they both looked like they were drenched in blood, the scale armor and the dragon's scales were so beautiful....so to many so sickly...
They had only hunted down a minor band of orcs and giants and the like. Nothing to hard to do, the other members of the dragon hands were still laying siege to the Ice Palace in the northern realms, the white dragons had long ago declared war against the Dragon Hands.....Meridus was growing tired of it himself, but...it did turn a large profit for the blacks.....they could steal as much treasure from the white dragon's hoards as they wanted while the white's were tied up in fighting. Meridus now looked over at Draconus. "Do you remember Jade?" Draconus turned to look at him, a bit of a scowl on his face.....when he and Meridus had first taken charge of the dragon hand's -when Draconus was mistaken for Dracon - Meridus had killed Jade, his one time tormentor turned lover....she had killed his parents and left him stranded without a home or money...found him captured him, tortured him and recruited him withina month....
"Why in the nine hells do you even remember her Meridus Septimus" Every morning I heard that name mumbled from your lips! Every morning I ponder why you foolish mortals love so powerfully even those whom did you so wrongly....." "You answer yourself fool dragon..." Smiling over to the dragon and patting his snouth. "Because I loved her....she took my sorrow and despair and turned it into anger and pain....they brought me back from the brink of death...then she showed me love, which gave my soul the will to live...and her last gift....the gift of her death? That gave me power......she was an evil person and did wrong yes....but in the end she had my heart, she had my soul...." "Perhaps she still does Meridus....and you simply do not see it...." With that they retired to the cave that was not so far away, a large cavern that housed most of the dragons of the Dragon Hands, infact this entire mountain range at any given time had a hundred heavily armed dragons and a rider for each in their depths! Draconus took his normal cavern and slept there , Meridus retired to his room, the same room Jade had once had, memories of her filled his vision, he saw the past before him, shaking his head he lifted his helmet- having set it down upon entry- and walked out, no.....he would not sleep again this eve...
