Risa would actually be very surprised, given that the tickets were handed out near the booths for voting for Winterfest and she hadn't told Katt where she lived! But 'Santa's elves' and 'Winterfest helpers' by the Frost King & Queen ballot boxes were happy to hand Katt her frosty-blue ticket!

They were very sorry of course, that the Captain's ship couldn't have a ticket and were appropriately apologetic. They even suggested perhaps he could share the winnings.

Mataya

Date: 2011-12-06 05:59 EST
A little time taken out of their shopping day to take a look around the Winterfest preparations had given Mataya something new to laugh about as Juno - her arms full of wrapped packages, only visible as legs, eyes, and bobble hat from the front - bounced along in front of her.

"Can we win the raffer, Matty, can we" Please?"

Chuckling, 'Taya leaned down to rescue her foster-daughter from the piles of packages threatening to spill everywhere. "We can get a ticket," she promised Juno. "But even if we don't win anything, we're still going on holiday."

"And I get my bird," the little girl added confidently.

'Taya groaned quietly; that if really was giving her a lot of bother recently. But Juno didn't notice; heedless of the line of people at the booth, she wriggled her way between them to lay her mittened hands on the table-top and peer up at the ticket-providers, an excited smile on her usually serious face.

"Can I have a ticket so I can win please?"

Iona

Who said you can't anything for free? Iona heard about the ticket so she sprinted to the office and waited. This morning she was first in line. When the ticket window opened, she grinned.

"I'll take one of them tickets please. Oh, if you can rub it on yer belly first and then blow on it for good luck I will be obliged." Imp grin.

She couldn't wait to get her hands on said winning ticket!

There were murmurs of excitement as a few recognized her in line; but maybe because of the holiday, maybe because of the spirit of winterfest, or maybe because they were all in line for the same thing—Caroline was given shy looks or wide smiles or waves, but probably to the relief of her detail: left alone.

The elf at the table near the ballot box was a slim fellow with a kind face—which is hard to do when you are an elf ususually, because cheek bones and all that. He listened with great solemnity to Juno's request and then pulled a ticket from the wheel. He offered it over with reverence.

"One magical Winterfest ticket for m'lady," with a sly, on the side reassuring wink (blink and you almost miss it) toward Juno's mother to reassure the lady the ticket was nothing of the sort. But maybe it would fire the girl's imagination.

Beltik the orc had always loved christmas. Ever since he had been a wee orc lad in the mercenary company, the sparkling lights and pretty decorations had distracted him so much every year that he'd been booted from the group and spent his time freelancing here and there through RhyDin.

Now, he knew he wasn't the brightest stick in the firewood bundle. But he just loved christmas so much—and so with his heart in his hand...Or someone's heart maybe—he had approached a little pink bundle of energy and begged to be an elf.

So it was, cleaned up and scrubbed down until green skin glistened like mistletoe, Beltik, with his little elf-hat with little plastic elf ears (which the real elves were doing their best not to double check to see if those were real elf-ears or fake) blinked slowly at Iona's request—but sure enough, he rubbed it on his belly. And then, best he could around his y ellowed, lower tusks, puckered up his lips to blow on it (without spit. Because Beltik knew spit wasn't very christmassy.)

"Here go, pretty lady. Beltik give you good luck. You win many preddy prizes." He smiled as happy as a puppy with a new chew-bone.

Most of the volunteers were smitten with Lyneth in roughly 2.5 seconds; and upon spotting the slumbering baby began carefully monitoring their enthusiasm.

A nice lady with bright blue skin patterened like fish scales handed over Piper's ticket and whispered, "She's adorrrrable. Happy Winterfest!"

Some of the volunteers that hadn't worked in this realm very long had a hard time not ogling, and the older ones frowned lightly to try and remind them not to be rude. Eventually when the Ghost of Pixie's past and his Lawyer/tailor made it to the front of the line one of the older gents who wore his felt reindeer antlers with a bit too much pride handed the Lawyer/Tailor a ticket. A much younger voice murmured from behind him, "Who ya gonna call? Which got the older gent to round about and glare fire. Everyone ducked their heads and looked elsewhere.

Hey. She was just hanging around 'cause she was weird like that.

"I'll take one if you don't mind." Smile!

Gem came by with a basket of pastries and handed them over. "I will take five. Can I have five tickets" Is that allowed?"

Since she never was one to miss a party, Kate figured she'd get a raffle ticket, so she got in line.

"One please."

The always charming and always pretty Kate was rewarded for her manners by one spiffy blue Winterfest Raffle ticket.

::The Bookish young woman waits nervously in line for her chance to get a ticket Then practically runs away when she has it in hand.::

One of the younger girls, possibly a wizard given the soft christmasy-red and green robes and markings on her face, hands over a single ticket with a beam-y smile. "Here you go, Merrrrrrrrrry—" Eyes wide as the ticket holder bolts." —-Winterfest?"

There were squeals of delight from the children, toddling off with giant rainbow candy canes, while their parents tried not to worry about what that much sugar could do—and even the adults seemed cheered by receiving such things. The volunteers handing out tickets passed over one to Andu, too:

They didn't seem to mind one bit, weird or not. To be truthful, the mix of people Risa had hired to hand out tickets were truly their own special bunch, reflecting on the...uniqueness of RhyDin.

"Here go. You ticket ready," said a towering orgre, dressed in a santa suit so tight and small it was barely decent.

The younger volunteers took exactly four seconds to eye ball the baskets to falling all over them like a pack of kobolds with cake. The older volunteers however, were able to restrain themselves—with much eye rolling and soft, patient sighs.

And older human woman with short, wirey gray hair and a kind open face shook her head softly. "I'm sorry m'dear, it's one per person. But thank you for the generous gifts," as the NOM OUM NOM NOM frenzy continued behind her, the elder pressed a ticket into Gemethyst's hand.

One of the young kids with crumbs all over his face from Gem's briber—err—delivery looked up in time to black-jack slap a ticket into Fio's hand.

Better late than never - or so the mantra went at any rate.

Stopping on his way to Star's End for a training hop with the RASG's VT-81 Sunliners, Matt went to pick up a ticket.

She emerged from the woods and after a few stops along the ways Rekah finally stopped by the raffle booth.

And stared at it for a very long time.

Unblinking as it were.

"I need a ticket."

A long thoughtful pause later.

"And a moose."

"No mooses, Rekah!" A frazzled Fio-elf thrust a ticket and a cupcake at her instead.

Doc swung by on the way home from work. She was bearing a bag of beignets from the "Bon Bon." The Bag was place on the table and she smiled to the elf.

"Can I get a raffle ticket please?"

The bag would be left behind as a thank you.

Ebon Ilnaren

Date: 2011-12-13 22:02 EST
At the head of a small parade that included numerous children—his own son among them—and a beholder, Ebon led them through the city streets until they reached the raffle booth. "I would like a ticket, please!"

Upon receiving his ticket, he turned and regarded his charges with mock sternness. "One at a time, and be polite."

Doran Ilnaren

Date: 2011-12-13 22:05 EST
After letting his fellow kids go ahead of him—largely because he was busy feeding treats to a nearby puppy—Doran looked up and saw that it was his turn. He hurried up to the booth and beamed at the elf. "One, please!"

Tenball

Date: 2011-12-13 22:08 EST
Bringing up the rear of the Ilnaren & Co. parade, Tenball floated up to the booth and flashed a grin. "Can I have a ticket too, please?"
