Part 1: Sigma & Karla Noin

The City of Rhy"Din" Calm and peaceful; its serene mixture of modern and old fashioned buildings stark against a clear ancient blue sky, with the bustle of a midday day crowd rushing below the sloped roofs, all heading towards the Marketplace for the usual few hours of haggling and selling various wares. Each day seems to start off like this, but the tranquillity never lasts for long in this blasted city.

Speaking of blasts" There's an earth shattering KA-BOOOOOOM!

A plume of smoke rocked sky high into the air, sending bits of debris down to earth around the block atop of the cowering screaming men and women rushing away from the injured two-story apartment block, with half of the front side completely torn off by the sudden release of energy. Out from the smoke came the stumbling figure of a man wielding a strange pistol of some description that, could have only come straight out of Stars End" Scampering out dusted in grey he rushes off through the running crowd, pushing and bumping his way out of sight.

"Wh-where" Where is that bastard"!" Screamed a female voice amongst the mist, the anger mostly subsided by the shock of the blast. Next came of series coughing fits, "H-he could have killed us!"

"Your statement is illogical, Karla, I believe it was his intention." Replied another voice, though this one surprisingly calm considering what they had both just been through.

Out from the mist came the black haired woman, dressed in one tight black shirt, jeans " simple white shoes, holstering her own futuristically designed hand held weapon. She too was caked in dust; blinking brown eyes to rid of the grit lingering upon her eyelashes. Slumping down onto her hands and knees Karla tried to catch her breath, craning her neck to the crowd who had scattered to spy any injured among them. Luckily there were not, but they appeared as shaken up as she.

Next Sigma came walking out as calmly as if the bomb never had happened at all, and behind the building succumbed to its fatal wound and collapsed into a recognisable ruin.

Stopping beside her partner she bent down low to place a hand on her shoulder reassuringly. Sigma's buttoned-up, long vintage WWII English RAF trench coat luckily was originally a shade of military grey " her hair too a shade of metallic silver, so she didn't look all that messed up because of the explosion. "Are you damaged?" Sigma asked softly.

"No?" Karla breathed, "Just' Just disorientated" M-my ears are ringing?" Karla reached back a hand to her jeans" back pocket and pulled out a thin square transparent pad. She stole one glance at it, and groaned, "He's" He's heading towards the docks" Go after him, Sigma, I'll catch you up?"

Sigma gave a nod, and narrowed her neon blue eyes to the dispersing crowd, "Leave this area before the Town Watch arrive, Karla. Go rest somewhere out of sight. I'll take care of the target." Standing, she dropped her hand to the hip holster, tapping the contained gun as she pondered her next course of action and how to execute it.

"Don't go shooting him up without me, "kay baby?" Karla forced herself to stand and suck in some air into her lungs to control her breathing, eyes blinking at the fading static in her vision as if to aid its transition.

Sigma reached a hand behind her back and took out the Remington pump-action shotgun from the back holster built into the trench coat itself, loaded it with some red cartridges from one of her front pockets, armed it, and smiled her perfect smile at Karla, "Can't promise that.?

Part 2: Raining Bullets

Sigma had lost her target, she could not quite understand how or why. She had marked him with a special invisible paint that " under her unique visual sensors, would glow like a light bulb. But somehow he had managed to avoid Sigma and Karla's search of the City streets for nearly a full two hours without so much as a peep, and it was already starting to get the girls down.

"He has a safe house nearby," Karla spoke as she expertly walked and gazed into her data-pad, displaying the vital statistics, a picture " with the amount of the bounty just above that, and various other information that could aid in his death or capture, "Kinda strange don't ya think that he'd run to your home town?"

Sigma was too preoccupied scanning the area to really pay attention to her partner's usual ramblings, and so said nothing.

"Sigma," she spoke her name louder, but still Karla didn't get an ounce of a reply. "Are you even listening to me?" She sighed sadly, shaking her head and directing her eyes back down to the data-pad, frowning. "You never listen to me."

"I'm scanning the area for possible points of ambush." The cold calculative reply of Sigma spoke caution, her own face a blanket of emotionless robotic features as she concentrated at the task at hand.

Both turning a corner Karla took off a head and stopped directly in the path of Sigma, with her hands on her hips, suddenly looking strict and annoyed. "Look he's not going to ambush us, so relax! He's probably hiding somewhere waiting to be picked up by transport or something" And his only way off of this planet is Stars End. We got monitors there, so we'll catch him eventually."

The Android shook her head and continued her path forward until both of her arms fed around the other's waist, nuzzling her face into the side of Karla's cheek " planting a kiss there, "That is an incorrect statement. I have monitored the Nexus here previous to our joining. There are portals too many other worlds around this planet, and there are such entries right here in this city. These entrances and exits are scattered, but they form an effective escape route for him to take."

Karla smiled a little. She loved being proved wrong, but she failed to see where this was going, "I don't understand" But I like the sudden affection?" She purred softly, pulling her face back to gaze at the Android's cold fleshed lips and move to kiss her, eyes sliding closed.

Sigma pushed her forehead gently against Karla's to prevent the kiss ever taking root, "I indicate his signature is still within this world, though he is masking his exact location with some kind of device, hence why we could not efficiently track him down before.

"So if there is so many ways out of this place" Then-"

"Therefore there is a reason for him to stay. He won't leave until he has it. We must find him before he does, otherwise we're going to loose him." Sigma pulled back, taking her eyes elsewhere over Karla's shoulder.

"And then we loose our money?" Karla turned sighing, hands on hips and blowing a jet of air upwards to flick some strands from her face. Bringing the pad to her face, she started to type furiously, "I'm going to re-modulate the scanning frequency of your optical sensors, that way you might be able to form an indication or direction to where he is hiding, by the unique masking radiation coming such a device. We're not loosing this one, I've had my eye on that dress back on Chaven XI for months?"

It was Sigma who now used the same purring voice she had copied from Karla moments ago, "I love it when you talk technical."

A dirty smirk formed on Karla's lips, and she turned to Sigma. "There. You should refresh your visuals. You should start to see something any moment now."

Sigma nodded as she lifted to press two fingers to push the silvery hair behind her ear, pressing the tips behind her earlobe, and scanned the area down the road in front of them that spanned towards the dockland area. "I don't see anything."

"Okay?" A few blips later on the pad and she turned back to Sigma, "How about now??

The silvery haired female suddenly twisted her head up to the window immediately to her right, and up to the second floor. Dropping a hand to rip out the ACP-P3 energy automatic pistol from its holster, she turned to tackle Karla towards a shop window directly behind them, shooting the glass before plunging herself should first with her partner in arms to safety before the hail of bullets spewed from above.
