This is a choose your own adventure story I was running for the person I'm basing Gwen of Weifar on. You may know how they go. I wrote the scene and the characters, and at decision points in the story, she chose which option to take.

Part 1 - Meeting Gwen. Your character in this story is a mysterious lady named Gwen. This is her profile page. http://rdi.dragonsmark.com/forums/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=237231

This is when she dresses up.

This is when she dresses casually.

Gwen was on yet another mission sent by the witch Yubaba. Yesterday Gwen had arrived in the city of Montfort, and had stayed at the Red Dragon Inn. The place had a real reputation for wonders and magic, for having many powerful magical protections. And also for their fiery dragon pod poppers.

(This is where I first posted her visit) https://groups.google.com slash forum/m/#!topic/alt.drag ons-inn/g914tFFqkGc

Gwen woke the next morning in one of the inns rooms. The bed was comfortable, so she slept in. What was Yubaba going to do. Anyway' Complain more? She already did that anyway! When she got up, Gwen dressed in her casual clothes.

Gwen woke the next morning in a nice bed. It was in one of the Inn's rooms upstairs. The sun was peeking in slightly around the curtains.

Gwen got up and did her morning routine. She wore jeans, and orange striped shirt, and her most comfortable gray hoodie. Then she went downstairs. The dark aura around her was faint this morning, and the sparks of energy in it were small as she moved.

In the common room, Gwen went to one of the tables for breakfast. Fawn, the ghostly waitress stopped by her table. Gwen could see the people and tables through her. Even though she'd met her the night before, it still took some getting used to.

"What'll you have for breakfast?" Fawn asked her.

"I'll have the Axebeak Omlette," answered Gwen.

Fawn nodded, "good choice!" She said, and headed to the kitchen. Now Axebeaks are taller than an ostrich, and so their eggs are larger. And so the omelette that Hugh made filled an entire plate. It had a delicious aroma of cheeses and meats, and was a feast by itself.

It had a delicate and special aroma that Fawn confirmed is why the axebeak eggs were so valued.

Gwen thanked Fawn and started to enjoy her meal. But she was only able to eat a few delicious bites. The dark aura that surrounded her reached out and teeth made of sparks began to snap at her food.

Gwen rolled her eyes in annoyance. She closed her eyes, laid her hands in her lap, and began deep calming breathing. In her mind she sought for that part of herself that was calm, confident, and capable. Then the dark aura faded and she was able to finish her food. What little was left anyway.

One of the inn's patrons was an old, white haired man dressed in hunting clothes. He had been watching Gwen's dark aura and came over to her table. He raised his eyebrows.

"I've seen a lot, miss...But never something like that. What's your name miss? " Gwen answered him, and he went on.

Looks dangerous. What is it'

"Oh I've started calling that my Shield," said Gwen. " I really don't know what it is. The first thing I remember was waking up in the town of Weifar.

It is really annoying some times, but it does keep me safe."

The Old Hunter reached out to lay a hand on her arm, but snatched it back. The dark aura snapped out teeth, biting for his hand. If the omelette was any indication he would have lost his hand to it.

"Young miss," he said, shaking his head. "I've been to the Dwarven kingdom of Dunekar and back. I've been to Bleiresh-Beyond-The-Sea. I've seen things not meant for mortal eyes. And just between you and me, that ain't no shield."

((OOC Your turn. What would Gwen like to ask the Old Hunter, or tell him about' You don't have to write it like a story. I'll do that. Just reply with a couple questions for him or a couple topics about her that you would like to explore. I'll lead.))

Are you hungry' Care to join me"

Gwen liked having someone reach out to her, even if he couldn't get close. So she said,

"Are you hungry' Care to join me?"

"Don't mind if I do." He replied, sitting down.

Gwen was curious about the giant omelette and where it had come from, and of course, what huge bird it must have come from. Maybe the Old Hunter would know. So she turned to him and said,

"Axebeak eggs" Have you ever seen an axebeak?"

"Ooooh, meanest creatures you ever did see miss. Take your head off as soon as look at ya'. Oh yes, I've seen'em. Down south on the plains of Vailgarden they live. They hunt the ostriches they do. Packs of them follow the running herds and cull the old and sick. Fiercely protective of their nests, o'course. They like to dig out a pit, big as this table, lay their eggs in it. Cover it with rocks. The little critters muscle their way out hungry as starving wild dogs. You ever see a nest, get yourself a stick, and start poking their eyes. One time an axebeak dragged me into its nest, and I spent half a day poking baby axe beak eyes to keep from getting 'et m'self.

You ever see an axebeak face to face, make yourself look big! They won't attack anything bigger than themselves.

Sounds scary! Hunt anything scarier than an Axebeak?

Next, Gwen asked,

" Sounds scary! Hunt anything scarier than an Axebeak?"

"Mmmm," he murmured, nodding. "Razordrakes, up Dead David's pass. Them things hang of the rock crags above, full out of sight. But they can hear you.....Oh can they ever hear you. Best hearing in the world, I reckon. Any time you 'aint lookin' is when they git ya. Swoop down and snatch up a pony they did one time. Another time, lost half the hunting party to a group of three of 'em. We call 'em razordrakes fer the sharp spine on the head and both wings, so sharp it'll cut you just when you look at it too close!."

He went on.

'"Tell you what, you ever find you'self in the mountains, you keep an eye out above you, hear" They only swoop from behind. But I found the secret........."
