Lani was upset! Very upset. The day had not started at all well. Spending the morning locked in ones room sewwing was not her idea of fun! When she finally ventured out of her rooms and to the kitchens for some lunch she happened on Gavilean and some of his friends in the tap room.
The crazy cat lady was refusing to feed them again so Lani volenteered to cook. While in the kitchens she reached up for a loaf of bread on a bakeing tray, and ended up dumping flour all over! When she wandered back out to the tap room Gav had left! without his lunch! Lani claimed a broom went back to the kitchens to sweep up.
While in the kitchens she heard a crash from the front, and peeked out to investigate. A rather sinister looking man had smashed in the top of a table. After some bits of conversation the cloaked figure of one of Gav's friends had used some sort of magic to repair the table, and lani moved back to the kitchens to sweep the last of the flour outside.
When she went to return the broom to the closet the sinister looking man approched her. A very strange tentecle sort of thing with teeth, appearing to be made of chain slipped out from under the sinister mans cloak, to snap hungrily at Lani.
"Tell me where he is...." the man growled.
Lani just blinked at the man in confusion " He who?"
The teeth snapped a few more times and lani began backing away, right into the broom closet. By that time the mans actions had drawn the attention of the man in the cloak, and the lady with the book who was sitting beside him.
"Don't play stupid. You know damned well who I am talking about! WHERE IS HE!" His voice echoes throughout the inn as his anger increases.
Lani stammered something stupid and inane just wanting to be elsewhere now.
"Speak up woman! Tell me where he is now, before my friend here decides to give you two bodies."
"He's not here....whoever the hells He is!" lani snapped back.
"You lie!" with those two words, another chain shot out from the living cloak and smashed into the door of the broom closet, smashing it to pieces.
In the instant that the door shattered something odd happened and Lani was drawn back into the shadows, only to step out somewhere behind the cloaked man.
The man whirled around as the woman disappeared before him "You.....you should know better than to interfere with me.....Dragon."
The cloaked man gave an almost friendly chuckle. "Dragon, is it' my...that is a first," He watched the sinister man calmly from beneath his hood. "as for interfering...it would seem that it was warranted"
The woman with the book, edged around the pair trying to get a better veiw.
The sinister man did not seem too impressed an made to mock the hooded dragon. "You think you can hide in the delicate human form you are in" Just so some wench will sleep with you?" the man gave an evil laugh "You should know when to back off Dragon."
The dragon just laughed again, still sounding friendly and easy going. "ahh...and why would a devoted married man seek the company of another woman in his bed?"
The book lady looked a bit offended at that, maybe she had not known the hooded dragon was wed" She chose not to press the point at the moment though prefering to back towards some sort of safety.
"Where is he Dragon' Tell me where he is, or the wench and everyone else in here will pay for your ignorance!" the woman had not backed away fast enough, as that chain beast had at that moment flashed out and wrapped around her throat, lifting her in the air.
The hooded man reached out a hand and stilled the chain keeping it from lifting the woman higher.
"perhaps you'd care to disclose who 'he' is before actions warrent harsher consequences"
The hellspawn's eyes flashed with red fire "You know damned well who he is. The one who sent me to this god-forsaken place."
The woman was clawing at the chain about her neck and weeping now. Lani edged closer wishing she could help her.
The hooded dragon spoke again a barely perceptable tension in his voice, like he was smiling grimly beneath that cloak, "I'm afraid that my knowldge of who the gentleman is is lacking at the moment. Perhaps you could enlighten us?"
The sinister man stared at the hidden dragon, as if trying to discern the truth from him. "You seem to be sincere in what you say Dragon......If you say you do not know where Skafte can be....I must believe you." with that the chain holding the woman set her down slowly and let go, backing up a little ways to snap hungrily at her face.
Lani moved to the woman and asked "Are you hurt?"
The woman looked shaken when she looked up at Lani "No...I'm...I'm ok"
Lani looked her over still concerned "Are you sure?"
The woman nodded rubbing at her neck where the chain had been and backing towards the wall, eyes never leaveing the sinister man.
The dragon had released the chain when it had released the woman, turning to look at the women still obviously on alert.
As soon as his back was turned the spawn lowered his gaze for a moment, then without warning, four chains came streaking out from beneath his cloak straight at Elisa, each wrapping around a limb and pulling her as quickly back to him. A drop of fire from his eyes drops to the floor and flared up immediately around both of them then dropping back to the floor as quickly, leaving no one where the flame was, only a small note written on a scrap of leather.
The dragon lifted the note and read it looking thoughtful, before turning to Lani and handing her the note. "I believe that your Lord Protector will be needed..."
Lani nodded and turned for the door "I'll go find him"
She didnt have to look far as Gavilean, her so called 'Lord Protector' Was walking in the door at that moment colliding soundly with the elfess.
"Ohhh! I was just looking for you!"
Gav smiled "Lani! Nice to *meet* you."
Lani handed Gav the leather note and babbled an explanation "The guy in the cloak said we need your help....the man with the chains stole the book lady."
Gav looked a bit confused at the eplanation " Huh' Guy in the cloak" Man with the chains" A book lady' What the blazes is a book lady?"
By then Gav was reading the note, raising more questions for him. "Who is ....Skafte?" a pause " And who's the wench?"
Lani explained that the wench was the book lady.
Running his fingers through his hair Gav asked "Is she a pretty wench?"
To which the hodded dragon replied " would it really matter if she was pretty, Lord Protector?" Lani could tell the dragon was just smirking in the shadows under his hood.
